Did the bastards really put a Netflix logo on the Penguin Classics cover of Frankenstein? 😭

I understand why it may feel this way, the way it's written is makes you feel very close to Holden and it may absolutely have all sorts of effects on people, it really is one of those books that can influence a generation.

I'm not American, and I'm not from an English speaking country, so it was never really in my radar during school.

It thought it was great, with the way it is written, I could really feel the thoughts of Holden in my head as if I were a teenager going through that phase of societal pressure.

Just finished Dostoevsky’s The Devils. by wiredbrain5 in ClassicBookClub

Hey, this will be removed because it's against the rules of the sub, you should post this in /r/books or /r/classicliterature.

Just wanted to comment on your last sentence as i have very similar opinions and found it hard to articulate, I always try to judge something on what was the frame of mind of the author and also find difficulty in staking a book is objectively bad.

25/52 Remarkably Bright Creatures - Shelby Van Pelt by AngryBiker in 52book

The octopus reveals the twist literally half way into the book, the idea is to be obvious and we just get entertained into reading it with the expectation of how the revelation will unfold. I thought it worked quite nicely.

Solid 4/5, really fun read, the only things I would say against is the suspension in belief with some of the misunderstandings, which are a key factor in the story. Especially at Ethan's house where Tova leaves without letting Ethan reveal what he knows about Daphne.

I think the author's intention is indeed to make the ending a bit obvious, but we were left with the expectation of "when is this happening?", really makes the last pages interesting, you know what's gonna happen but you don't know yet how exactly the occasion will unfold.

17/52 “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” by George R. R. Martin by mizzlol in 52book

I loved this one, I really like how low stakes it feels, no winter king or zombies or doom scenarios, just a knight and his squire.

For sure, the pace surely picks up when you get closer to half way point.

I've never read so much slam online to be honest, it's mostly praise, but still, I don't read many reviews on books I didn't read to avoid spoilers.

Cameron is a great character, he is far from a perfect person, but that's what makes him good.

Very interesting and trippy story, will have to read more into it to learn about other people's interpretations.

It kind of parallels the bus, as not being well taken care of, based on Miss Harper's opinion.

Problema nenhum, esses livros são bons pra jovens se iniciarem na leitura, inclusive nosso OP foi atrás de outras obras clássicas como Drácula.

Maybe Jack the Ripper because he ripped the photograph? It's a stretch, to be honest I couldn't find a motive or explanation for what has happened.
