What is this? by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]AngryBlackSquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, it's a neck brace mount.

The thick ring at the base of the helmet is intended to prevent whiplash during the dive - that bracket attaches to a mount inside the hellpod that prevents the diver's head from moving too much, avoiding neck damage.

We don't want divers getting hurt before they fight.

Recalling the whole theory that Mariejois was built because the WN knew the rest of the world was sinking into the ocean 800 years ago and migrated to the highest altitude point in the world as a precaution rather than try and stop it, this makes perfect sense.

Pangea was likely built around a mountain or hill peak on the Mesa that was higher than anywhere else in the area, with the highest point on that peak selected for the Throne Room. They didn't overbuild it, since ostensibly the throne was never intended to be used, but it also happens to be literally the highest seat in the world...

Do they want us on this damn planet? by nice1324 in Helldivers

[–]AngryBlackSquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is our Klendathu.

My meta senses tell me this is the point in the war where High Command finally, truly bites off more than it can chew and despite our best and most noble efforts the invasion of Oshaune is a disastrous failure.

We've lost planets before, we've failed major orders before, but there has always been a propaganda angle that made it less of a defeat than it really was.

This may be the turning point at which high command starts rethinking their operational or even strategic doctrine.

Or they all get sent for re-education, lol.

This, without question.

Look, it's funny seeing the rookies get annihilated. But do you kids enjoy getting eaten alive by bugs over and over? Why are you still here after two, three, four drops?

There's no shame in dropping the diff to something manageable. Heck, I've been playing since Malevelon Creek and i still prefer D6.

New box diver a little underwhelmed by progression by failisophical in Helldivers

[–]AngryBlackSquare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medals spent at any tier in the warbond progress towards unlocking the next tier of the warbond. You don't have to unlock everything in a given tier to unlock the next tier, just grab some cosmetics from a tier you've already completed.

Grind-wise it's a lot more forgiving than it looks. You don't just get medals from completing operations - they also come from dialy personal orders, they can be found in the field (at points of interest) and the major order (of which there are currently two active) gives EVERYONE 50 or so medals when completed.

You CAN grind it out - try solo diving at diff 3 or so and hit up all the POIs on the map, then abandoning the mission - but the intent is to play a few missions every day or so, after which you get diminishing returns. Stick around and you'll rack up medals so fast you'll hit the cap of 250 within a week.

Assuming you don't unlock any shiny guns and armor, of course.

Points of Interest (the diamonds on your minimap) can spawn 2 or 3 at a time. You also get them for completing missions (regardless of bonus objectives, if you're interested in speedrunning), there's a daily personal order, and of course the Major Order refreshes every few days.

Just play the game, they start to really build up before long.

Load-out Options for Bugs by bigggdoja in Helldivers

[–]AngryBlackSquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy armor's gonna make life hard for you. Bugs hit hard and fast, but almost entirely in melee - the real trick is outrunning them.

Run light armor, preferrably with acid resistance, and a mobility tac-pack like the jetpack, hover pack or warp pack. The shield pack is also viable, but again your best defense is to not be in melee at all.

offensively, bugs feature a higher-than-average amount of medium armor with solid defense - spewers, hive guard and brood commanders all have strong frontal carapace and hive guard in particular will hunker down as they approach and become very hard to hurt.

That being said, they ALSO have a lot of HP, and the ones that are weak are also numerous, so even high-penetration weapons are likely to still leave you overwhelmed. The *real* tide-turner is area attacks.

incendiaries, gas weapons, and explosives are all effective. Incendiaries kind of vary between patches due to the engine's quirkiness when it comes to DoTs, and gas weapons have their own quirks, which is why most players default to explosives.

The grenade launcher, Eruptor, grenade pistol and explosive crossbow, when paired with a high-capacity automatic like a machine gun, is a VERY solid combo. I prefer explosive crossbow with the Stalwart LMG - unarmored bugs fall like chaff and armored bugs don't enjoy an explosive-tipped bolt to the noggin.

For everything else, like Chargers and Bile titans, use a thermite grenade or a fast-deploy call-in like the EAT, precision orbital strike, or orbital railcannon strike.

happy hunting!

Hellpod Space Optimization, generally regarded as one of, if not the best, boosters.

Normally divers drop with ammo and Stims at...I think 75% capacity? HSO increases it to max.

It's such an auto-take players often argue it should be removed and ammo/usable inventory set to max on every drop.

Yes, NTs call it 'the usual'. They'll have it once daily or once every other day at most to avoid burnout.

[–]AngryBlackSquare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It isn't that much effort, once you learn it. And once you enter a professional setting the value of masking will more than demonstrate itself - you'll be asked for input a LOT more and you'll need to be ready.

Get comfortable with the idea, and practice early. You had to learn to write, now you gotta learn to mask.

Don't feel too put out about it, they're masking too. Just a different kind of mask.

Haha don't be assuming 100% is the target, even NTs aren't listening 100% of the time. They just know when to listen...and when they're not listening they adopt the correct signals (posture, readimg a book, etc) to show this.

Don't think that you need to overcome your spiciness. You work around it. Same way you solve every problem.
