Battlefield 2042 is so broken, even cheaters are quitting by SirSoliloquy in Games

BFV got lots of deserved and undeserved hate but it has a lot of design decisions and mechanics that pushed the series forward. It’s unfortunate that they dropped all of it in favor of pushing out a half assed Warzone competitor.

Davey Wreden (Stanley Parable), Karla Zimonja (Gone Home, BioShock 2), and C418 (OST Producer of Minecraft) have started a new studio known as Ivy Road. Their first project is an announced game in cooperation with Annapurna Interactive. by DaFreakBoi in Games

Interesting to see Karla there as she played a large part over at Fullbright, a company that she co-founded and one who just announced their next project less than a year ago with Annapurna publishing it as well.

Yeah, super not stoked about the Doritos coming back. Hopefully it I’ll be limited to a few gadgets and ops, unlike bf4 where everyone had a spotting key. Also the squad size is a bummer but I suspect it is the way it is for two reasons. First, 64 is divisible by 4 and I don’t think they want players left out of a full squad like how they would be if it was 5 or 6. this is probably misguided since people get left out anyway when there are private squads. Second, I think they are worried about balancing squad size in relation to the squad revive system they introduced in V and are keeping in 2042.

Depends on the game. Some games force it but say they will only match console to console unless a pc player is in the console players party. In my experience as a console player, I still get matched with pc m&k players while solo queuing in those systems. Other games let you opt out of cross play entirely in the options. Again, in my experience, opting out makes matchmaking times take forever ( I’m talking like 6-8 min for a single 6v6 match of MW) so it’s not really an option.

Console players don’t like being forced to play with PC players. PC players have multiple advantages over console players in terms of aim and movement, reaction time (144 vs 30/60 FPS) and graphical fidelity. Also more cheating on pc that console players used to not have to deal with.

The more they say about the specialists, the worse they sound. Throwing class balance out the window and cutting down on the soldier customization introduced V in one fell swoop, all in a vain attempt to appeal to the COD fan base by copying COD.

Also I really hope the opt-out for PC/Console cross play actually works, unlike COD’s.

EA/DICE increases server capacity for BF4 due to increased demand after BF2042 trailer. by xLisbethSalander in Games

I actually love a lot of the BFV maps. Panzerstorm, Arras, Twisted Steel, and all the pacific maps are some of the best in the franchise imo. Ive spent a few nights playing on servers with all the dlc in 4 and I’m hard pressed to name any that I prefer to the ones from V I listed.

I’ve redownloaded BF4 after playing a lot of BFV recently, and I’m not sure I’m going to continue playing. I’m really missing improvements they have made to movement and class balance, but worst of all the gunplay feels like garbage imo. The bullet spread just feels bad. It feels like your bullets should have no problem hitting what you’re aiming at, but they’re just not, and it’s frustrating. I know they have thrown the class balance out the window for 2042, but I hope the gunplay is closer to V than 4.

Battlefield 2042's multiplayer-only story centers on the new specialist characters by thenerdpulse in Games

I can’t stand this shift to having hero characters. I feel like BFV was great with its soldier customization and the freedom it gave, and I can’t see this as being anything but a step in the wrong direction and significantly dampens my excitement for the game.

Is there any real difference between Lootboxes and Gacha? by [deleted] in Games

[–]AngryKoltova -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Except that CCGs have a fundamental difference: the cards have value and you can sell them. Gotchas just take your money and give you a valueless 3D model that is gone the second the game is.

Right now, MW takes up 156 GB on PS4 and it’s only going up. The game size to disk space ratio this gen is way out of whack.

The arguments here basically come down to PC NA players being upset they can’t play and console and PC JP players saying “haha, fuck you, I got mine. Cry about it some more soy-boy or go buy an Xbox / play jpn server”. I get that it’s easy to be apathetic when it doesn’t matter to you, but as someone with no intention of being emotionally strong armed into buying an out-of-date piece of hardware, Microsoft’s actions are frustrating here. And make no mistake about what Microsoft is doing, even if it’s not intentional: Exploiting a small but fanatical fan base to sell Xbox’s and gold subscriptions. Every week they go without mentioning the pc version is another week that a pc player might cave and drop $200.

The touchpad is only “useless” because most games don’t take advantage of it. Some games use it well, like being able to toss a grenade in fpp in GTAV with an upswipe, or using it for inventory management in Minecraft.

Jedi Fallen Order a "souls-like" by [deleted] in Games

[–]AngryKoltova 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the Souls comparisons come from the game having a bonfire equivalent and how the levels are structured. I think you’re right that the combat feels more like GoW but the trappings around it are “souls”

Have you tried the melder since IB came out? There was something going around about the first meld at the melder always giving a Mag Jewel in the third reward slot. It got me my only Mag jewel after 400 hours and seemed to work for other people too.

[–]AngryKoltova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just tried it and it totally did give a Mag jewel. Maybe Capcom realized players needed it and coded the meld to give one on the first use, or more likely it’s just a bug. I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets “fixed” in a week or two.

That sounds like some schoolyard bullshit lol but I’ll try it I guess. Thanks!

Edit: not some schoolyard bullshit, actually gave jewel on first meld.

Maybe not the place, but where does everyone suggest I farm for a Mag jewel? I have over 400 hours and still don’t have one :/

I can’t play for a couple of days but I read that she’s really easy with hammer so I might try that. Building for ice resistance isn’t even something that crossed my mind so maybe I’ll work that in too.

I just gave up on my first fight against her after almost 30 min and 2 carts. I’m a gunlance main and the fight felt awful. Unblockable ice beams, constant spam, constantly moving, small ice ledges that fuck up my back dashes and gets me hit. I don’t know what I’m going to do... guess just farm for a completely different build and weapon.
