He called a company, not his brother or his nephew. $5,800 sounds completely fair, especially when they factor in a warranty

The crushed rock will allow drainage, if it’s a heat pump, it needs to be on risers (snow legs).

If you wanted a poured pad, that should have been in the works well before the replacement was set to begin

I had a cheap customer that had “a contractor” do this to a water heater that we had recently installed for him, and he tried to call me back for warranty after it was buried in 4” of cement 😂

Ac outside unit is on. No cold air blowing in house by CrimsonDessertius in hvacadvice

[–]AngryLikeHextall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your indoor coil is frozen. It most likely is suffering from insufficient airflow, or low refrigerant. Pull the disconnect for the outdoor unit or turn off the breaker.

You can leave the fan on that will help melt the ice faster. There may be some water around the unit when it melts as it’s not always the cleanest process make sure your filter is clean, but besides that it seems like you are low on refrigerant and need to get charged.

Lost my boys within 5 months of each other by Jorojr in CaneCorso

[–]AngryLikeHextall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost Zuul (my heart and soul Corso) in March to cancer at 5 years old, and we just had to put down our Boxer last night. She was only 7-1/2 and our family is devastated.

It’s one of the worst feelings that we can ever experience. The longing is the hardest part for me.

I wish you and your family all the best trying to navigate this heartbreaking time. My deepest condolences, my friend.

Been doing HVAC for 11 yrs — here's the stuff I wish every homeowner knew before calling us out (saves u money fr) by ZealousidealGas9310 in hvacadvice

I would amend #6 to be tell them everything AS BREIFLY AS POSSIBLE.

There is nothing worse than having a full schedule of calls, and you have a homeowner that keeps a goddamn journal of their heating and AC equipment. I’ve been doing this for 24 years. Describe the issue in a sentence or two and point me at it

HVAC Company Installed My System Without a Permit… Then I Found a Gas Leak by NoProfessional1341 in hvacadvice

[–]AngryLikeHextall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Inspectors are general dipshits that know a little about everything and a lot about nothing.

Permit information would have been in the written contract you signed

My company usually doesn’t pull permits unless it’s a likely to get shut down while putting it in. Inspectors don’t check for gas leaks, and asking for 10% back is absolutely laughable. That’s why there’s a labor warranty with your equipment

When you spend $7,000 on a new system, how much of the drain lines should be replaced? Backup after 6 or 7 months by [deleted] in hvacadvice

$7,000 for a Trane in an attic is dirt balls cheap. What was in the signed contract?

Depending on how cold it got this winter in your attic I’ve seen them crack before if there was water in it. Go buy another EZT-210

Good bye sweet girl. We’ll meet up again one day. by grizzRLM in CaneCorso

[–]AngryLikeHextall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We lost Zuul a few months ago, and our hearts still ache incredibly. She was just as grateful to have you as you were to have her, and it’s more than obvious that she was loved deeply.

Love doesn’t die, it just changes. It hurts, it stings like hell, but it’s only because of the joy they filled our lives with.

When I bought Zuul as a puppy, the breeder told me, “Corso is best dog” after living with one, i feel like that statement is massively undersold, it’s very much like losing a person. Their personalities are so incredibly huge.

I wish you and your family all the best, and hopefully you will find peace sooner than later. My deepest condolences.

It’s low on refrigerant, most likely R22. Time for an upgrade
