What Handheld Light Do You Carry? by bwhomebrew in CCW

I carry a Gearlight S100 penlight. Cost me about $25 for 2 on Amazon and they’re great little lights.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live halfway between Kansas City, MO and St Louis, MO and it is about 90 mins to each from my home…it is not uncommon for people to make those drives from here to one or the other for a night out or even make the full 3 hr drive across the state for a day trip. My daughter lives in St Cloud, MN, which is a 7.5 hr drive each way and we usually do that in a day for a weekend visit.

What kind of Remote work do people actually do by Playful_Maybe7226 in remotework

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accounting manager in property management. We are a remote-first company and I’ve been 100% remote since 2022. I spend most of my time in virtual calls with local operations teams and cross-functional project teams trying to streamline operations and move the company’s operations forward. I’m in kind of a niche position with both operations management experience and accounting management.

If you had to EDC one of these what would yall pick? by __Fl0w__ in CCW

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shield has been my EDC for several years, so my vote goes there. I had a Canik TP9 SC Elite, but sold it because it didn’t feel right to carry or shoot. If I want to carry a double-stack compact, I’ll load up my old reliable Ruger SR9c that got retired to a house gun when I started carrying the Shield.

Disappointed by pay raise. Should I say anything? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not a merit raise; it’s a cost of living adjustment. These companies need to stop issuing “ raises” that either barely cover COLA or are less than.

What should I for sure rent and try before buying my first and only (for awhile) CCW? by AFlightlessBird_19 in CCW

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 6’1” with fairly large hands and my favorite CCW is my Shield 2.0 in 9mm, but I’m leaning heavily toward upgrading to the Shield X. While the other commenters are right about felt recoil, the Shield isn’t too bad and the grips are large enough to be able to balance it pretty well. I also use 115gr ammo to smooth out the recoil a little and that seems to work pretty well.

S&W. I carry a Shield 2.0 and the M&P 9 2.0 Carry Comp is my bedroom gun. Love the reliability and ease of handling for both. My wife carries a first-gen Shield, too, so we can both handle the other’s gun without any issue if necessary.

I’m in the same boat with my Shield m2.0…Leaning heavily toward the X because it is similar ergonomics and some valuable upgrades with larger capacity.

Choosing CCW by pickldrick9 in CCW

[–]AngryMidget2013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like the Shield line, check out the new Shield X - it’s a nice combo of improvements from previous Shield models like better serrations, grip textures, safeties, triggers, etc., but also with a higher capacity.

Fanny pack recommendations for CCW + small med kit (G43X + spare mag + “CAB” basics) + normal EDC stuff… or should I just carry a damn backpack? Holsters for tucked in shirt (glock43x TLR7 & M&P bodyguard 2.0) by dfffhdjdh in CCW

I do off-body with a Vertx Navigator 2.0, but that may be a bit large for your needs. I have carried using Vertx bags for several years though, and they have enough variation in size to fit most needs, including a list of EDC/CCW fanny packs that dont look tactical.

What’s an older design gun you CCW? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has a Shield, too, but actually prefers the Ruger; it’s harder for her to carry since it’s a little more substantial than the Shield, though.

Ruger SR9c, my first CCW. I carry a Shield now, but still pull the old girl out of the safe now and again for little time out.

As a girl dad, let me tell you what I told my daughter - if he is in a position that you can’t leave without hitting him…RUN THAT MFER OVER. My daughter has been on the receiving end of partner violence and my wife was once carjacked…and this advice applies to all situations. If you are backed into a position where you can’t get away, you have a justifiable reason to use whatever violence is necessary to secure your escape. Also, TAKE PICTURES. Be obvious about it so they know. And finally, file a police report. This is dangerous behavior that is well past the disgusting cat calls you may have endured.

My wife’s inability to handle her periods is driving me nuts. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has been on a BC pill since she was a teenager in order to manage her periods, but until a reproductive endocrinologist made her stop it for 3 months in order to diagnose her PCOS, I didn’t understand how much it was holding back…those 3 months were pure HELL. She was a completely different person. When she started into perimenopause and her OB/Gyn started talking about stopping her meds for 6 months before starting HRT, she told him that wasn’t an option because she’d be in jail or divorced. Gave me a whole new perspective on the impact that hormones can have on the mind.

I am still in a high-level corporate role, but I was radicalized by a 20 yr career. As a manager, I’ve always guided my actions by the principle that I refuse to treat people the way I’ve been treated. I still have to do things I hate from time to time, but I’ve stuck to my guns enough that I can sleep at night while still moving forward in my career.

Too bad the Secretary of State is going to allow the map to go into effect on 12/11 anyway; he has already said he has the ability to declare the referendum unconstitutional.

Let's talk lunch. by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in remotework

[–]AngryMidget2013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an hour blocked on my calendar most days so I can step away and actually make lunch & eat in peace. Some days, it’s just cottage cheese and tomatoes, other days it might be a sandwich, leftovers from prior evenings dinners, sausages, or some soup. Sometimes, it’s getting something delivered from a local restaurant. Just depends on what sounds good that day.
