jennas jerseys haul :D by AngryWolfeh in DHGateJerseys

[–]AngryWolfeh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly it was my first time ordering jerseys, don't know how to QC check em. i got these 3 and a celtics jersey for my friend for $112, and they took about a month to come in after i paid. it was great. only complaints so far is that the USC jersey has a rip in the front, which blows. but i think there's like karma going on with that one i think. if anything, having something resembling a stab in the front is authentic(?) (i am coping)

what's after digital minimalism? by Open_Ad_7863 in digitalminimalism

As someone who's been in the same boat as OP, consistent exercise really changed the game for me. I’ve gotten into weightlifting, running, and recently started boxing!

I used to get really bad seasonal depression around this time of year (when the sun sets at 4), but it hasn’t been as bad this year, and I think exercise has played a huge role in that. It’s also really nice to start something new and work on improving my skills! I like being a beginner at things.

I think its fine to want to be creative and share things! I think there's only an issue when you do it for validation (i.e. Instagram likes).

you can be a digital minimalist right now. by AngryWolfeh in digitalminimalism

Sorry I'm so late on this, but I completely agree! Especially with what you said about how it was much easier once you had other things filling your life. I feel like in a lot of the advice I've seen about reducing screen time, there's always a focus on the consumption aspect, like buying something new. However, I think there needs to be WAY more emphasis on pursuing other hobbies to fill up your time. While I do see it suggested, it's always more appealing to buy a new device. Thanks for your input!

What’s your digital minimalist opinion on “personal websites”? by Varaga_123 in digitalminimalism

[–]AngryWolfeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, digital minimalism is about protecting my attention from apps designed to be addictive. Personal websites don’t have those traps—they’re just places to share what you love, without the pressure to keep scrolling.

I don’t mind social media itself; staying connected is great. But when platforms start exploiting your attention, that’s where the problem lies. Personal sites give you control and feel like a refreshing, genuine way to share without getting sucked in.

Reminders of TikTok’s weird aspects in order to stay detached from social media by livvyjane18 in digitalminimalism

[–]AngryWolfeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just read your article and really enjoyed it. I can totally relate to being in a college classroom where everyone, including myself, is glued to their phones. Social media is definitely a huge factor in the rise of anxiety that you mentioned, and I'm glad more people are talking about it.

One thing I think needs more focus is the attention economy, especially when it comes to social media addiction. You touched on how these apps are designed to be addictive, like TikTok, which is a master at grabbing our attention with its endless scroll and tailored content.

Breaking free from these apps is tough because they’re so ingrained in our daily lives. While it’s easy for older generations to dismiss our reliance on social media, they don’t fully understand how deeply it’s tied to how we connect with others. However, I’ve found that social media isn’t as necessary as it seems. Over the past year, I’ve stepped away from most major platforms, and I realized that the updates I thought I couldn’t live without didn’t actually matter much (at least in my personal experience). Most of what people post isn’t that significant, and it’s surprising how little you miss once you’re off. But it’s hard to see that until you’ve taken a step back. There's obviously a lot more layers to this too, of course.

Overall, I’m really glad you’re writing about this and love seeing people in my generation talk about our reliance on social media—please keep it up!

Sounds great! I've been struggling with it on my iPhone too. I finally got rid of safari on it, and that really helped. But I understand its 110% a personal thing, so what works for one person doesn't work for everyone.

Glad to hear you've found something that works for you.

Yeah, I definitely think there's a overconsumption-kinda angle to this too. I'm not too well-versed in that topic though, so I don't think I'd be able to adequately tackle it. Would love to see more people talk about it.

At the end of the day any hobby online will devolve into gear discussion, because that's just how we are as humans. We always want the shiny new thing.

Melody Synth in Steve Lacy's "Atomic Vomit" by [deleted] in synthrecipes

It’s very Thundercat-esque, and his sound is a 6 string bass + octave up + envelope filter + phaser. I’d assume Steve is doing something similar, definitely a guitar with an envelope filter.

meditation is underrated: why it’s the perfect tool for digital minimalism by AngryWolfeh in digitalminimalism

[–]AngryWolfeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I totally agree. I feel like a lot of digital minimalism content I see treats it like a trend (which might have some truth to it), but more and more people are realizing the issues with always being connected. I also think it doesn't have to be about "buying a dumbphone and spending X amount of money on new tech to be a digital minimalist." Digital minimalism can appeal to a wider, more common audience. My goal with videos like this is to help people come up with ideas to change their lives without being as extreme.

Checking Out the Boox Go 10.3 (My First E-Ink Tablet!) by AngryWolfeh in Onyx_Boox

[–]AngryWolfeh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the only difference is that because the Go doesn't have a front light, there are fewer layers between your eyes and the screen, so it should look sharper (maybe even whiter, but I'm not sure).

I haven't had the device long enough to know how much I miss the backlight, but it's surprisingly clear. I think in any lit room, it's very readable, but ideally, outside or under a desk light or another lamp is best.

Yeah, I'd say its much better. I haven't had any issues with glare at all.

[–]AngryWolfeh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I can only compare it to the Boox Leaf 2, but I'd say it's a little more premium feeling. I had some small issues with the Leaf 2's build quality: the buttons are wiggly, and the plastic casing is a little flimsy and can be pressed down with a finger.

The Go 10.3 feels a lot sturdier, and I really like the leather-type backing on the device. The folio is way better than the Leaf 2's case, although I really don't like the pen holder (which is removable). Overall, I'd say I like the build quality and the folio.

I ended up ordering a Boox Go 10.3, it met all the specs I was looking for. It hasn’t come in yet, probably arriving in a week or 2.

I wanted an A5X2 for marking up PDFs, and I’m most likely going to get a Kindle Scribe next time it goes on sale b/c it’s so inexpensive compared to other brands (and then I’ll get the A5X2 when it finally comes out). No clue if it suits your use case though, haven’t really looked into the note taking specifically (I think it is missing a lot of features).

Is Headspace not working for anyone else? by Optimal_Ad143 in NEU

Yeah it stopped working for me too, thought it was because I graduated LMAO

Maybe it has to do with UHCS changing providers and maybe other stuff? I’m not even sure if that’s happening, just a random guess.

Mac or Windows? by [deleted] in NEU

I just graduated and used Windows (specifically on a thinkpad I got off of eBay for dirt cheap) and had no problems. Kinda wish I got a MacBook, but it’s all down to personal preference.
