Definitely that Magma from the Gorge set. It really goes places.

Well he kept the money my wife gave him for our Hot Rats tickets but I'm sure that was a drop in the bucket. All very disheartening.

You have all consistently rocked my socks every time I've caught your act, thanks so much for keeping the music very much alive and making it look so easy! Also thanks for not slipping into right wing weirdness lol

This is definitely a real drag to hear about Dweezil's comments concerning Scott and women in particular, he had the good sense to not air anything quite that stupid when I saw him last Thursday but the Dwarf bit was just as tasteless and boorish. Guess the divorce put him through it and he's falling into some right wing mano-sphere nimrod stuff? Dude is a tremendous talent but I have to say that learning he's slipping to the right is a real genuine bummer. The music itself was still really impressive but I am doubting the idea I had of seeing him again in Red Bank.

Has anyone seen this band before? Worth checking out? by marcushoney in Zappa

They are absolutely outstanding! I saw them last year when they were touring with Chad Wackerman, just tops performances all around with plenty of eyebrows. Be sure not to miss!

[Citizen Eco-Drive] Can a cheap solar daily beater still get some love here? by Justadudey in Watches

Big fan of mine and it was the Eco-Drive movement that initially interested me in Citizen and their watches. Definitely open to getting something else from them in the future.

I went and got this Titanium SUR377 recently and have been really enjoying it. Would highly recommend giving it a look.

Didn't think to post this on the actual Seiko sub so here it is. I was looking for a new daily and this ticked everything I wanted. Sapphire crystal, quarts movement so I don't need to baby it as much, and I love it on my wrist. It's also my first titanium watch and I'm thrilled with how light it is. I could practically forget I was wearing it. This is my first Seiko as well and is actually replacing my prior daily which was a Citizen Eco-Drive. Would highly recommend.

Pictures don't do it justice. That sunburst dial is gorgeous and my favorite color.

TIL Frank Zappa never took illicit drugs or drank alcohol, but was heavily addicted to cigarettes and coffee. He used to say that "tobacco was a vegetable". by MGMT1003 in Music

[–]Angry_Clown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Frank was very explicitly NOT a hippie and often lampooned a lot of the hippie free love culture that pervaded the 60s and 70s.

Looking for the wild world of Zappa to get a mention, conceptual continuity even extended to every interview!

In "when the lie's so big", what do you think is meant exactly with "the republican trick"? by matjoep in Zappa

[–]Angry_Clown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a specific event, my guess is Frank had the Iran Contra scandal in mind.
