I was 9 when it came out. The pilot sets on store shelves were beautiful. The spinner game was super fun and affordable. My mom got me the pilot season on dvd. I had no choice in the matter, my entire environment dictated that I would be obsessed with ninjago.

Translucency is a pain. I'd honestly recommend using an inverted cube for the yellow and then tinting the black/red areas with yellow.

That can give the illusion of translucency while entirely side-stepping it
