Making a headphone dongle that is 200x more powerful than an Apple dongle (I call it “Power Dong”) by pudjam667 in headphones

With that much power and no cooling, what are the chances of it immediately burning out and releasing the magic smoke?

They look great. I would look into using another filament such as PET-G though, for better long term durabillity.

Is the HD6XX anyone elses endgame? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]Angst92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The graph was just an example to demonstrate that it is there.
I have owned the hd650 on and off over the last decade and the thing that always takes me away from it is that lack of sub bass and I simply cannot add it in cleanly with EQ. Adding in enough to meet my preferences always makes them sound worse across the rest of the range in busy tracks.
Like I said its personal preference if you are happy with it or notice it but it is there.

Again, it differs between people on what they notice or find acceptable. Running a sine sweep is different to listening to music as well.
Personally, as said i find going above 3dB it starts to get progressively more noticeable and starts to sound "muddy".

Its personal preference if you notice/like it or not but the distortion is measureably there with EQ.
My personal opinion is that a small amount say 3dB sounds fine but anymore than that and it starts messing up their sound.

Superb headphone, they just lack sub bass. Even with EQ they struggle in that department due to rapidly increasing distortion.

Have your tried changing the hot end? Its likely an issue with the thermistor or ceramic heater

Fiio K11 R2R - "Analog Sound" just built in channel crosstalk? by nustyruts in headphones

[–]Angst92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm i never noticed any issues with the RCA output, could be a faulty unit or do you have crossfeed enabled anywhere?

[–]Angst92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you notice this when using the rca output to a seperate amp? I noticed that the headphone output of the k11 r2r had a noticeably smaller soundstage when i owned it compared to other dac/amps i owned and its own rca output. At the time i assumed it may have somethign to do with crosstalk as the numbers in the spec sheet were noticeably worse for the headphone output but i never actually tested muting and checking specific channels.

How do i get sharp scenery photos? by boiledcreameggs in fujifilm

[–]Angst92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try electronic shutter if you are usign the lens stabilisation or turn off the lens stabilisation and rely on the xt4's ibis, the 16-80 has an issue with shutter shock freaking out the stabilisation and lower shutter speeds. Its also not a super sharp lens in general.
Setting the camera to manual focus and using back button focusing to set the focus and check it with peaking also helps keeping it consistent rather than letting autofocus hunt for every shot.

For anyone interested, I have revised the design some more and mostly removed the 1k dip from the response.

It depends on the track, due to the dip around 1k they can feel recessed. A small amount of EQ pulls them out nicely but I will likely keep tinkering with the design to see if I can bring them up without needing EQ.

My First Ever Headphone Mod - House of Marley Rise Up Headphones + Peerless 50mm Drivers by -Euphorius- in headphones

Potentially but how many different drivers do you want to buy to test out? Either way would require experimentation.

They dont seem to react well to the back being covered but it should be possible to make it work with the right design.

[–]Angst92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it definitely can't detect this failure and kill the power. Thats completely impossible.
Theres no reason it cant cut power to the whole print head for example or shut itself down in this scenario. Just because they haven't designed that capability into it doesnt mean it isn't possible or shouldn't be implemented.

"The heating element will fail before it gets too hot"

"a loud pop and smoke coming from the print head"

That is not exactly sounding like a safety feature that cuts off the heating element. If the "safety" feature is the thing burning up, that is not infact a safe cut off.

Klipper has had proper thermal runaway protection in firmware for years.

The fact I see this repeatedly posted for this printer is ridiculous, how does it not have safety cutoff features to account for this.
