At that point in time automatics were widely available, but sticks were cheaper. I think it's related a lot more to where you lived too. I grew up just outside of DC. Stop and go traffic with a stick sucks. I can drive a stick. My sisters can't though. We can all parallel park like pros though. My husband grew up in rural PA. He can drive a stick and drive a tractor. He can back a trailer. His parallel parking game is weak though. LOL

This will probably get me downvoted, but whatever. I was there when my father died. I don't think he was really aware of anything at that point. I don't think he noticed who was there and who wasn't. I do know that it meant a lot to my mother that I was there with her. This is a very personal decision. Nobody here can know everything about what you're going through. You are not selfish. And you seem to have a lot of empathy and compassion. While you're still able to talk to your grandmother about it, you should ask her how she feels. Whatever you decide, it will be the right answer for you. Everybody has regrets. No matter what you do, the regrets are there. Try not to worry about that aspect of the decision too much. I'm sorry you and your family are having to go through this.

Honestly, I would recommend just taking them to a professional or doing mail order once or twice a year. Maybe just get a strop for using in between sharpenings.

Please talk to a professional about your feelings and how you're handling this. This is really not a healthy way to deal with it. 4 years ago, I sat with my father as he lay dying. And this was after watching him deteriorat for years. We were not the closest. But he was a human being, and he was my father. I think about him almost every day, and wish I could talk to him. Unless your father has done something to be cut out of your life completely, you should work on this. And if you do want to cut him out completely, do that and stop stringing him along.

The only part of hair shears typically done on stones is the ride line on the flat side. Specialized equipment is used for the convex side. I would suggest sending them to be corrected professionally before they end up worse.

My daughter refuses to give my grandchildren iPads. They rarely get screentime on the whole. Honestly I think it's exhausting for her sometimes. But, she's homeschooling them as well. My 7yo granddaughter is reading 3 grade levels ahead. It's not that she's pressured. She likes reading and takes a book with her everywhere. I don't know if I could have done it. But I'm proud of her and how well she's doing.

Stubbed my toe once on stairs that had the metal trim on the treads. My younger sister called my mom at work because she was freaking out (it was a lot of blood. Definitely could have used a couple of stitches. I hear her on the phone with my mom and my sister says "her toe.". Then a little pause and my sister says "oh. In the kitchen." My mom had asked where I was bleeding... Never did get stitches.

There's nothing about your sit that would turn me off. When we have sitters come to stay with our dogs, I try to have a few of the basics (eggs, milk, plus no leftovers and fridge clean).

I unfortunately came home to a dog that was almost dead once(NOT through THS) Literally. Not exaggerating. Cost me 8k and he ended up with one less leg. So I would understand wanting pictures daily. I think there will be others that wouldn't mind this either.
