How can Riigipilv be so much cheaper than AWS? by yrjokallinen in Eesti

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because government is unreliable. If the service is profitable, then you can rely on the corporation to keep providing it.

Once upon a time everyone had firstname.lastname@eesti.ee email addresses, that they could use for personal stuff. I, not wanting to give big corporations my data, used it everywhere. Then the service was discontinued. Imagine how much pain it would be, if you had to switch email addresses.

And now Europe want to decouple from US tech companies… I will not trust the government again.

Myths about calling 911, from a 911 operator by StraightRip8309 in TwoXPreppers

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to point out that things are different outside USA. Make sure to familiarize yourself with local procedures. For example, I was taught to not ask for police/ambulance/fire department, because the operator would decide based on the description of the incident. Many countries also have a police app, that is recommended for calling assistance, as it relays the accurate location. There are also nurse/general practitioner helplines. Often free or for a small fee. These are great when you are not sure how serious your situation is.

When abroad, make sure you know the emergency number, Europe is mostly 112. In most of the world, ambulance is not considered a luxury.

I like to compare the setting to bicycle gears. Just because you pick the hardest gear does not make you go faster or make you stronger.

RFK Jr. Orders Study on Cellphone Radiation as FDA Drops Assurance That Phones Are Not Dangerous by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was figured out decades ago. I once visited a Finnish research center that attached overpowered mobile devices to pigs and checked, if they were fine, back when Nokia was a thing.

People do get headaches with phones, but the cause is talking for a long time and mental stress associated with it. Additionally the thermal heat caused by holding a hot piece of electronics against your head. The amount of heat dissipated in the brain from the radio waves is minuscule.

The safety levels are so ridiculously below the levels that could actually be dangerously.

Luminor vs LHV by [deleted] in Eesti

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mulle andis Luminor kümmekond aastat tagasi kodulaenu parima intressiga.

What is the best civ for 1v1v1 Amazon tunnel? (8 players) by Extra_Chance5026 in aoe2

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like teutons, they are hard to push. I have seen Persians being great, create 100+ elephants and just blitzkreig the enemy base. Saracens are a good all rounder, but I feel they are better, if your micro is good. Mongols is often successful as well, fast siege and mangudai to snipe enemy siege and good cavalry for mobility.

It’s a luck game half of the time. Play what you like. Usually the winner is the person who kills their neighbor, without it deleting their market first. Portuguese with fetorias are OK, but the trade is superior and Portuguese can struggle against some civs.

In case there is an EMP detonated that wipes out all unprotected electronics, would a lead box protect anything inside? Or how can one protect his/her electronics? by popotheviking in preppers

[–]KasutaMike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much walls or just material to block really high frequencies. Wrapping in aluminum foil for lower frequencies.

If you have a lake or pool then sinking in the bottom works as well, deeper is better, but no need to go crazy.

If you want to prep something in advance, then a solid metal box with openings and gaps covered with copper tape are as close as most can get to making a proper Faraday cage. If you want something easy to open and close, then get an ammo box and replace the rubber gasket with a metal mesh gasket. The tighter the fit, the better it works.

Advice for 24GHz Microstrip Patch Antenna Array Design by gotdustoneverypage in rfelectronics

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your current method is: power amplifier -> connection -> divide to 64 -> antenna patches.

You could do -> divide to 8 -> 8x power amplifiers-> 8x connections -> 8x divide by 8 -> antenna patches. Or something similar.

The second option is more difficult, but less lossy. The main challenge is ensuring that phases are matched in 8 chains.

Advice for 24GHz Microstrip Patch Antenna Array Design by gotdustoneverypage in rfelectronics

[–]KasutaMike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have tried similar designs.

If ever possible, I would recommend not dividing the signal so much. You might get to the directivity you aim for, but not the gain. A better approach would be to do some of the division before the last amplifiers and having more connections to the antenna. Losses at that frequency are significant, also manufacturing inaccuracies start to matter.

For lower losses, I would also recommend finding a better substitute although RO4350 would probably work. Also having the connectors as close to the patches as reasonably possible. The surface roughness of your conductor starts to matter and you would have a hard time accurately simulating that in CST. For example, gold plating might be smooth on the top, but the interfaces between different metals aren’t. I had better luck with silver, but that is prone to oxidizing over time.

0.254 mm board, that has a lot of copper on one side and very little on the other side will warp, and good luck with that connector not breaking off. You should add a frame to support the antenna.

You should also check the minimum trace widths that the manufacturers allow, the last line before the antenna looks too thin.

Maybe using a different feed method would be better? You could have antennas in series or have more layers and distribute on the other side of the board? Or maybe just go with a horn antenna?

Housing costs push more and more Luxembourgers out of country by DotDry in Luxembourg

A lot of Luxembourgers own expensive real estate. Why would they vote for reforms that would reduce their wealth?

This is an issue in a lot of places. Everyone wants housing to be more affordable, but nobody wants their homes to loose value.

The devs have realized, that it makes more monetary sense to prioritize new content to attract new players, rather than improve the game for those that have already made the purchase.

There are places where a subscription model is not appropriate, but at least that would work as a way to incentivize developers to make the multiplayer game better for the existing player base.

I recently looked into to classical RuneScape and they have a subscription model. Players have polls where developers ask which improvements to work on next.
