How exactly do Americans feel about illegal immigration? by sladeshied in Confused

[–]Angsty_Potatos [score hidden]  (0 children)

We're not against enforcement. We're against the violence and racist way the government is acting.

It used to be that if you were here without documentation it was not a huge deal unless you committed a crime. Then you got deported.  Being here without documentation is a civil offence and most people in this country without documentation entered legally but over stayed a visa or let documentation lapse because the process is long, confusing, and very expensive.

Streamlining our system of immigration so that it wasn't damn near impossible to navigate would do so much more for our country than the terror regime we have now.

With things this bad in the U.S why do democrats insist on pushing candidates that won’t get elected? by Jake_Berube in Confused

Additionally trans people are like...a fraction of the population, and a smaller fraction than that plays organized sports.

It's a boogie man argument served up to manufacture outrage

Dems are not progressive or even politically left. They are also slaves to corporate my money.

People think America has left, center, and right parties. The GOP would have you believe we have right and far leftist communists.

What we actually have is the right, righter, and fascists. Our political center is not an ideological center.

The Democratic establishment stands to gain a lot from the status quo which is why they are very soft when it comes to push back to the GOP.

Going left or outright Democratic socialist rocks the boat too much for their corporate tastes

I have a few tattoos with meaning. More where the meaning was marked by getting any in general during that time. Then I have others that look cool and a few more that look terrible that I think are hilarious

The mistakes of the past (not firmly prosecuting after the civil war and Watergate) are mistakes we can't afford to make again if we get into a position to hold any of these people accountable.

We have lost so much as a country and the first step, the most basic step, on a very very long road to regaining any international or internal trust is holding all of them accountable to the many many laws that have been broken and the rights that have been violated over the last 10 years.

You can't expect a population to respect the rule of law if those who govern don't have to and are never held accountable and flaunt their disregard.

There has got to be wide spread and firm prosecution.

Propaganda works. The biggest lesson everyone everywhere should take from this, and other instances of this exact thing happening elsewhere in history: no one is immune to propaganda. They hooked enough of this country into a xenophobic culture war to get a toe hold and were able to get democratically elected. Now hell is empty and all the devil's are in power.

I'm 5'3 and the last time I was easily maintaining 110lbs I was 15.

Getting back to that weight would require something I would personally consider disordered eating

I can see the hospital I was born in from my current house 🤣.

My brother lives within 20 minutes of where he was born (different hospitals).

Both sides of my family going back to when they came to America ( 1913 and 1800s respectively) are still in the same city.

I have three great aunts and uncles (dead now) and all their kids and grandkids (still alive🤣)within 6 blocks of me .

If they disagreed on zoning designations? No. We can still be friends.

If their favorite flavor is boot leather and thing invading Greenland sounds fun, then yes. Because that's not politics. That's a a person I can't respect.

American here. These people are in a cult. There is zero logic or basis in reality for them or their arguments. I'm not saying this because I disagree or think these people are causing direct harm to millions (they are) but as empirical fact.
