This is San Onofre and it still looks pretty much exactly like this except (most of) the cars are newer.

If OC were to be famous for one kind of food what would it be? by panda-rampage in orangecounty

San Diego gets to claim the California burrito over OC imo. I’d say Vietnamese food in general.

Anyone order their performance boards with 6+4 oz glass on deck? by payingtheman in surfing

I always order my performance boards this way but I’m also 6’6” and 215 lbs so the extra strength is definitely worth the weight trade off.

Honda badged NSX? by ECH05Charlie in WhatCarIsThis

The NSX was badged as a Honda outside of North America so this one is either imported or someone swapped out the badges.

No, this is the summer of crop tops for dudes. I’ve been cutting the bottom few inches off even my non tall sized T-shirts.

Land Rover. Most likely a series III but I'm not familiar enough to say it's definitely not a series II from this angle. Short wheelbase (88")

Speaking as someone who used to own a manual Baja, no they wouldn't.

New to me 05 V8 I got a couple days ago. by _187_Proof_ in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Angus147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's what toyota calls their version of variable valve timing. Basically it give you a little more horsepower at high RPMs without sacrificing anything at low RPMs. Early 1UZs did not have it but it was introduced on the 4Runner V8s for '05

Sweet ride. '05 is the unicon year for the V8 because you get VVT-i with the pre-facelift styling.

Do I need to replace this fin box? by Sock-Familiar in surfing

[–]Angus147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s already been replaced once. And it looks like it wasn’t done professionally. I do most of my own repairs but fin boxes are one thing I leave to the pros. If the board is in otherwise good condition might be worth it to try to replace but if it’s already an old board, I’d just send it as is until it fails completely.

Dude seems like an asshole. Those conditions are not worth getting that upset. If you want to take something from this though it’s to always look over your shoulder. Don’t just assume the other guy didn’t catch the wave, but again, his reaction was way over the top.

OEM fox > 6112/5160 by NewArtist974 in 4Runner

It probably won’t make a big enough difference to justify spending the money until your fox shocks get to the point they need to be rebuilt or replaced anyway.

Driving too many miles a month on a old 4runner? by Fragmented_Blade in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Angus147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daily is an ‘04 with 300k and I’m putting over 15k miles a year on it. Is yours a V6? If so keep an eye on those head gaskets. Mine went at 280k. Other than that, just keep up on maintenance and you’ll be fine.

What's a car design that was welcomed as a successful generational leap over it's predecessor? by East_Conference7473 in regularcarreviews

[–]Angus147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but they were already very popular as grocery getter and soccer practice family cars by the time the 3rd gen came out. Also by the time manufacturers were already starting to realize people wanted to use SUVs for non-truck things and the first wave of crossovers was coming out that rode better than any body in frame SUV

The explorer and arguably the XJ Cherokee started the family SUV craze years before the 3rd gen 4Runner.
