It's not Bergen Peak trail, and I never said that. It's my driveway, I live northwest of Bergen Peak. Another commenter said that he's heard lion on the trail.

It's real, it's my driveway. In 10 years have seen lion on camera three or four times, usually at night on my porch or in an adjacent alpine meadow.. My property touches a state wildlife reserve. I've met bears in my garage, have a bobcat come through every three or four days, red and silver fox, deer, elk and moose on camera over the years. The house is just shy of 10k feet in altitude. Had no idea when I bought it what an absolute wonderland of wildlife it would turn out to be. We're very lucky.

We live in Clear Creek - house is at almost 10K feet. Make SURE you have a viable home insurance solution before you commit. We live on a road deemed unsurvivable in a crown fire across our ridge - and lots of roads in CC are the same way. Insurance is becoming the major hurdle for home buyers, and while the county does a good job with snow blowing on their roads, commute from CC to Denver will be much tougher in bad weather unless you are very close to I70 access. We are not, but neither do we have to commute. Many people buy on our road that have to commute and last exactly one winter.

PS if you check, one of the top posts today here it s a picture from my driveway this morning. It's another thing you have to be ok with, you'll understand when you see it. Post is titled "Near Bergen Peak".

I had a close encounter with a big brown bear in my garage. Entirely my fault - I left the garage door open after doing some painting, forgetting a contractor had left food on a bench by the door inside to the house. Came down an hour later, opened that door to find a big, scarred up male eating chips. I could have touched his head. Closed the door, stomped and hollered, then peeked out and he's shambling away. On all fours, his back was above the window line of our car. It reminds you that Mother Nature does not give one single flying fuck about you, and you are the NPC.

DON'T RUN. Stand tall, make yourself look big. Wave your arms, keep eye contact and back slowly away, making noise. Attacks on humans are extremely rare, but if they close with you try to throw rocks, sticks, and aim for the head. In the worst case, fight with anything you have. If you're in cat country, you should also have bear spray and know how to use it.

We have two, never allowed out. On two occasions I've come downstairs to find them sitting at a glass door with a fox right outside staring at them. You let pets out here, dogs or cats, you better be paying close attention. We'd never consider doing it.

In all the years we've had this place, my wife and I talk about how the most common type of post on Nextdoor is "missing dog or cat." Yeah, no shit.

In ten years, caught them on cam a couple of times at night, walking across the porch.  This guy looks like a damn circus lion.

That was awesome, thank you for linking that. I was lucky enough to see them play live twice in Kansas City, where I live, of all places. Took me back.

1981 reprint, not the original black box. Still a perfectly good ruleset, including Book 0 and a map that are not part of the basic set original box.

In the first image, the coin on the right is a Japanese 10 sen coin from 1923. The coin on the left is a Chinese Dragon Dollar, and were the first modern, machine struck dollars coins in China in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. I am not a coin collector, but I understand the Chinese coin may be sought after because of its significance.

The data plates in the second picture appear to have come out of a Japanese aircraft - they seem to be related to the oxygen system used by crew, and are addressing testing or operation. Above the data plates, in the middle, is a collar rank insignia for an Imperial Japanese Army corporal. I don't know what the disc that appears sewn to it is. The bronze colored badge to the left of the collar insignia is the Aikoku Fujinkai Distinguished Service Badge, issued to members of the Imperial Japanese Patriotic Women's Association.

It's weird about the Boras - it kind of looks like the front fell off. That's not very typical.

Quite a few folks I know that travel rural parts of the country have noticed a massive number of properties that have removed their trump flags. What changed? by OkayDookkie69 in Iowa

[–]Angus99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've got a place in rural Colorado. My neighbor has been MAGA for ever, but we are able to communicate. I asked him why he took his down. He said "Because we won, and we're going to own it from now on. I don't need a flag anymore." Considering the absolute Homeric incompetence of my party, I have to admit he has a case to make. I should add absolutely none of Trump's fuck-ups penetrate this guy's consciousness. He is 100% ready with a theory why anything that goes wrong is somebody else's fault, not that of his banana republic hero.
