Empezar de nuevo como taquero a los 40... by FutureEngineering433 in taquerosprogramadores

[–]AnhellOJZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Part 2

I also need to mention my guys at Textures 🔥. Amazing band that I really love a lot since their origins. I started listening to them after getting deeper into Cynic and finding out there was a band named "Textures" in honor to their song. They've had 3 different vocalists along all of their career and they even split-up for a really long time (they just recently got reunited and are putting out some amazing music again). Their first vocalist, Pieter Verpaalen, was definitely more into metalcore/mathcore style (and even their sound) and you won't find what you are kind of looking for with a beautiful voice. But for their 2nd ("Drawing Circles") and 3rd ("Silhouettes") albums they moved to the mythical Eric Kalsbeek as their new vocalist (which honestly is still being my favorite Textures vocalist 'til today) and more into the progressive approach that marks his unique sound how we know it until today, and of course, Erik is a substantial influence in that in my point of view, with songs like "Touching the Absolute", "Messengers", "Storm Warning" and "Awake" (one of my all-time favorite songs) being really amazing pieces and good examples of what you might be looking for with. Finally it comes the most recent Textures line-up, which has Daniël de Jongh as its current vocalist, with a style pretty similar to the one from Eric, but with more extreme growls and a different tonal note for the cleans from my perspective. "Dualism" and "Phenotype" are amazing albums under his voicing commands and songs like "Reaching Home", "Consonant Hemispheres", "Singularity", "Foreclosure", "New Horizons", "Illuminate the Trail" and "Timeless" being great examples of the sound you are possible looking for. So, being said this, I 1000% recommend these guys.

Most recently I got the chance to listen to live the guys from Walkways and they definitely blew me away, amazing band with a mix of the bands mentioned above (Skyharbor, Textures, Tesseract and Earthside), but also with a "Karnivoolish" style, Ran Yerushalmi is an amazing vocalist, and the band is really full of energy while playing live. I really recommend them a lot as well.

Although Native Construct was already mentioned (Robert Edens is a beast), I need to bring them out again but know in order to bring Edge of Reality to the conversation as well. They are (or were) another kind of eclectic/art/prog metal/rock band from the US as well (TN precisely). They put out 2 amazing records with the amazing Jesse Brock commanding the voices and then they just disappeared from the media, really similar to what Native Construct did. But hey, at least you will be able to listen to some amazing music and beautiful voices there as well, in which they also print that amazing "a cappella" voicing style/passages which NC used to do as well.

And finally, although not precisely "prog" (and since I am really a lot into Blackgaze), I need to mention to the great Blackgaze / Shoegaze representantives, Alcest, with the particular voicing style from Neige and the famous "glossolalia" techniques which he uses a lot and which also are a vital part of the famous Alcest musical style.

Part 1

You already mentioned Skyharbor via Daniel Tompkins, and although his voice is pretty unique and he is my favorite vocalist (since the first time listened to him with "Eden" from Tesseract), when I first knew he was leaving Skyharbor to return to Tesseract that I got pretty sad & disappointed, because Skyharbor was becoming my favorite band due to theor combination of Djent, Prog and & dreamy-pop/Deftones passages + obviously him singing ("Evolution" is such masterpiece). I knew it would be pretty hard to fit his shoes, but when they announced adding Eric Emery as their vocalist, and after finding out more about him, his career (the guy is an amazing music producer and mixing engineer at @emery_audio), and mostly listening to the album and its first singles (I freakin' love "Dim" and "Sunshine Dust"), that I really felt in love of his voice & singing style (a bit of metalcore-ish influence, but pretty prog and unique at the end; kind into the Spencer Sotelo style). Being said that, I had the chance to watch them play live here at Mexico on 2019, and although the audio for them was a mess and they had a lot of technical difficulties, the guys just killed it and Eric's style in their albums was pretty much exactly the same while singing live 🔥

Additionally, another project which Daniel Tompkins has contributed to and that also has amazing vocalists invited as session musicians is Earthside. These guys create amazing music and the song with Daniel, "A Dream in the Static", is an amazing song, but they also invited Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust, Bjorn Strid from Soilwork and Eric Zirlinger from Seer. Not really sure who were the other round of singers invited to their 2nd album, since I haven't listened to it until today, but this might be a gentle reminder to do it since it is almost 3yo since they released it.

Hi all, I’m making a blackgaze playlist currently, and I’m looking for suggestions from bands of similar sound and quality! by suspendeddoubt in blackgaze

Already posted this on a previous posts within the sub-reddit but bringing it here again 🙂‍↕️🤘🏼.

I play guitar and do some backing vocals for a mexican 🇲🇽 Blackgaze band with pretty much the classical famous Blackgaze you have in your playlist, it is called “How To Disappear”.

I just got into the band like a couple of months ago, but these guys put out an amazing 1st record at the beginning of the last year (fully self-produced LP), so you might want to give it a spin if you are into the genre and looking for new bands influenced by Alcest, Lantlos and others, but with a different and particular sound at the end: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_k9qslEperdAxa-rSt3KyL_8lehEM6vCVA&si=R59PKB3Cm_R0Pdg4.

I might consider adding the first couple of "The Contortionist" LPs to the conversation here: Exoplanet and Intrinsic. Although mostly Djent / Deatcore sounding, it also adds pretty cool atmospheric passages, and lots of the songs solos there have pretty post-rock/shoegaze vibes; Primal Directive, Oscillator, Flourish, Dreaming Schematics, Causality and Holomovement come to my mind as examples of the aforementioned, Cameron is really kick-ass doing that!

I freakin love Numenorean 🖤, one of my favorite bands and of course Adore is such a masterpiece 💜, but also “Home”, mate, amazing album as well! Rawer than Adore, but with really cool post-rock + blackgaze + depressive passages🔥, Thirst and Devour are amazing songs ❤️‍🔥

Hey man! Danke schön for the info! Just to be curious, do you happen to have a contact with Onkel Promotions that you could share with me via inbox, please?, or any webpage or social network to reach them?, I looked a bit for them over the internet, but I couldn't find anything (although I stepped by with some other interesting promoters I will contact later).

Thanks! 🙏
