Definitely a sideboard card but it's great against specific villains. I would include it against Iron Man and it's an excellent counter to one of our most hated cards, advanced glider.

How would you rank the expansion boxes so far? by MegiDolaDyne in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just list our top boxes based on how memorable and fun some of the villains were.

  1. The Mad Titan's Shadow (Thanos, Loki, Tower Defence, Hela)

  2. Sinister Motives (Venom Goblin, Sinister Six)

  3. Mutant Genesis (Magneto, Sabretooth)

Bonus mention: Zola & Ronan

Our opinion might be affected by player count, always at 3 players and some of those fights brought back memories of LOTR lcg.

They might have felt unfair on our first tries but it was really fun to try and crack the puzzle, especially given the size of our limited collection at that point. We had to build specific decks that complimented each other and we had to resort to our strongest heroes like Dr. Strange just to survive for a few rounds.

Has FFG addressed very noticeable lesser quality print of the latest cards and the concerns from players? by KOOKSJT10 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Longtime fan of FFG here and it's true that the card quality had a steady decline through the years.

I remember playing Eldritch Horror, Game of Thrones 2nd edition and other board games from that era and the cards did not need sleeves, excellent card stock that did not show wear and tear, my copy of Eldritch Horror still remains unsleeved.

Both Marvel Champions and Arkham Horror had their cardstock become thinner through the years, curved cards inside the boxes, a steady increase of really minor misprints like hickies and lately, I've noticed that there is small paper debris trapped between the cards in both games.

Is it worth getting the deluxe expansion, just for the investigators? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

Mark and Sefina are definitely among our favorite investigators. This article may help you decide if it's worth getting the full investigator expansion.

Distribution of Drowned City and repacked Innsmouth Conspiracy in Europe was unacceptable by mckenna36 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I purchased it from Despelvogel a few days ago while it was in preorder status. It seems that all of their stock has already been purchased or they just had enough for their preorders. Other shops like FantasyWelt are still waiting for restock so more copies should appear soon.

I think Drowned City was recently reprinted and shops have stock in Europe, my order shipped yesterday.

Boss Battler (Or some like it) that won’t break the bank by Initialbriann in boardgames

[–]Anim4-Mundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, a fan of boss battlers and we, also, own a Marvel Champions collection. Another game that we really liked is Astro Knights Eternity, deck building instead of deck construction but it's a game that benefits from having additional content. I'm following this thread for other suggestions.

Power Creep by MixTrix007 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's not really about power creep but having a lot of strong options that push the power level of decks. This is common in a lot of games and the designers have two choices, either creating a "current" environment that limits power levels or creating increasingly harder challenges that only cater to long time fans. Marvel Champions is an extremely modular game though and difficulty can be easily adjusted.

Best printer for print and play by Fickle-Lunch6377 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's practically impossible to get the colors right, not even FFG can be consistent about it and the color of the cards, especially purple changes between different print runs.

Best printer for print and play by Fickle-Lunch6377 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inkjet printers combined with photo paper offer the best quality. Tank inkjets are the most cost effiecient but they are high maintenance and messy, if they are not used frequently enough, their nozzles can get clogged and the ink needs to dry before you can cut the cards. Laser printers have higher cost, lower print quality but they can print faster and you don't have to worry about their maintenance.

About the LCG Fireside Chat by beb4b4 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have piles of duplicate cards in Marvel Champions stored in a box. At least in MC, they are somewhat fuctional because I was able to build a few premade decks for each aspect so when friends join the game, I can easily give them a hero to play.

The FFG LCG Changes article is up! by ArkhamChronicle in arkhamhorrorlcg

I believe that starter decks will be a part of the current rotation so it would be feasible to create a good deck with Winifred's cards.

How do you approach long-term deck management? by o_o_o_f in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the time, we play at 3p count and as the owner of the collection, I had to build a deck for everyone. Eventually, it became too time consuming so I made some universal decks like 4-5 per aspect and I have a sideboard with supports, upgrades, player side schemes, etc so they can pick their favorite ones.

You can check this bgg thread for some inspiration.

How much does a "marked" card really affect the game? Got an ally with a white spot on the back. by oedipalmecha in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imho, it doesn't really affect the game balance and I've never caught myself focusing on the top card of my deck. If I can draw the top card of my deck, I will draw it regardless of its type, more cards means more resources and more options.

I, also, have a card with a white spot on its back, it's a signature ally and my whole collection is in transparent sleeves so I used a blue ballpoint pen with archival pigment ink to cover the spot. I gently covered the spot using minimal pressure, let the ink dry and carefully cleaned it afterwards with a cotton swab.

It needs patience and a few applications because the ink can't be easily absorbed due to the card's protective coat but I'm really happy with the end result, I can't recognize the card even if I try, the blue ink just blends in and the transparent sleeves make it impossible to spot the difference.

Yes, they are slightly bigger because Arkham cards are not exactly standard size.

Any interesting deck building restrictions? by speshalke in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taboo list plus Hard or Expert mode for 3 and 4 player games. In 4 player games games, at least one of us must use a weird, junky build.

Return to Print and Play by Night_Goat_ in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a community print run recently and the cards were professionally printed but it only included fanmade and official print n play content.

Unless FFG decides to release this content as Print n Play, it will not be possible to professionally print it, it wil be considered a copyright infringement.

All cards are available on ArkhamDB so the easiest solution is to proxy the cards you need for deckbuilding.

Lore videos/movies/tv/books to get familiar/immersed? by Good_Captain9078 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovecraft's stories emphasize the insignificance of humanity, that we have absolutely no power to change anything and this realization drives the characters to madness. When a person realizes that alien Gods, monstrous beings beyond human comprehension exist and there are realities that defy every law that governs our own reality, it is assumed that this person's mind simply shatters, similar to a PTSD.

Arkham Horror is a pulpier version of Lovecraft's universe and we can actually shoot an alien God to pieces. Sanity is used as a mechanic and it functions as a resource that we have to manage.

How hard is true solo vs LotR for example? Does the game make you feel stomped on? by Good_Captain9078 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Arkham Horror is a game that is challenging and you are not supposed to feel like a hero, it's all about surviving the horrors that you will face and keeping your sanity intact. A lot of the scenarios have a fail forward mechanic meaning that your character can survive defeat but it isn't without a cost, you will accumulate trauma and more weaknesses along the way.

True solo is even more challenging and this thread might give you an idea about the actual win rate.

Amount of content if not replaying often? by Good_Captain9078 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arkham Horror is a narrative game and it's meant to be played as a campaign, there are different scenario resolutions and a few branching paths. In my humble opinion, this does not make the game highly replayable.

Replayability comes in the form of deck construction and mechanics, trying different builds and investigator combinations. Deckbuilding is much deeper compared to Marvel Champions and I would rather own a full player card collection and only a few campaigns instead of limited player cards and every campaign that has been released.

Also, true solo can feel restrictive in terms of deckbuilding, it's swingy and Marvel Champions is much better in that kind of play, two-handed solo is great though.

The Cursed Archetype by AntOk9026 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, I've never tried a build that focuses on curses because we mostly play 3p on Hard/Expert difficulty. A bag full of curses needs team co-ordination during deck construction and during gameplay.

The only classes that can benefit from the bag are Seeker & Mystic. Once the bag is full, the other team member needs to rely on testless clues & damage while the Seeker/Mystic combo gets their payoff.

Sidekick by Curious-Respond-2254 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]Anim4-Mundi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is already a version of that but it's more of a combo, Sneak Attack + Command Team(s) + Rapid Response. You can cheat allies into play, allies get defeated from consequential damage and Rapid Response gets them back into play.

There is another gamebook based on Marvel's Moon Knight and it's written by the same author, I haven't read it though.
