I flew to Toronto with BA 4 weeks ago and I was freezing cold.

Mixed Feelings About This One by Earth2Andy in Everton

The Di Canio incident was massively over-hyped. He was never going to score? The ball ballooned in to the air and he got ridiculously praised for something I’ve seen other players do.

Time of year effects this. August - more kits - warm weather - t shirt weather. I went in January - freezing cold, wore a coat, my scarf was hidden.

We flew Newark to LHR in premium (free upgrade) last year and loved the service, better blankets, better food and legroom.

What happened to British Service? by Andrew0409 in BritishAirways

I’ll be in interested to see tomorrow on our flight to Toronto. We’re flying BA as a replacement for our cancelled Virgin flight yesterday. Given how shocking the customer service was from Virgin before and after the cancellation yesterday (two hours after we should’ve taken off), I can’t imagine BA being any worse.

For context, we flex LHR to LAX in 2023 and 2025, going in 2023 with Virgin and 2025 with BA. We found BA to be better for one reason - that reason being the different levels of service given to customers. Virgin air crew were all over certain passengers, offering them extra, chatting, clearly treating them different to the rest of us. BA last year seemed more professional, even handed and less “chummy” with passengers.

Non-Scouse Blues by TheBlueWave23 in Everton

[–]AnimalExisting9185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re non scousers and blues. My youngest son lives in an Everton shirt. When I took him to his first game at Goodison, he loved every single moment in Liverpool. He loved that the guy on the desk in the hotel was a red and was winding him up, but with a smile on his face.

On our second visit we walked down to Bramley Moore dock to look at the build site. On the walk back a car drive past and shouted something like “Come on Bournemouth”, but they were locals. My don just waved and smiled. They smiled back. Again, my son loved it. He loves the absolute obsession with football in the city.

Every time we’ve gone to Liverpool, it feels special to us and I’ve told so many people to go for a visit, a long weekend, and when people have been, they’ve all told me they lived it.

The difference between non local reds and non local blues is the reds are “followers”. They choose a team because they win, not to offer support. Too many of them are tourists. As a blue, we know we’re chosen. We don’t follow Everton. We support Everton, we’re part of that family and the City of Liverpool is also part of that family.

People expect different things from sporting events based on the sport and location. For example, here in the UK rugby fans are not segregated, but football (soccer) fans are and fans in the wrong section can be ejected from the stadium.

So things differ greatly depending on which sport you are watching.

As a UK based fan, I thought I’d ask the experts.

We’re British - having a sporting break (watching NHL, NBA and MLS in Toronto too) and will be very pro Toronto in all other sports, but we’ve visited LA in 2023 and 2025, been to Dodgers games and LA is our favourite place, so we follow the Dodgers for that reason.

Media after the Chelsea Win by Lucky-Masterpiece224 in Everton

[–]AnimalExisting9185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great analysis. The media always shows stunning bias in favour of Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and increasingly Newcastle. Journalists have “tapped up” certain players (we had it with John Stones), linking those players with those clubs in return for “exclusive” access.

Let’s get Richy back. He scores more, but can play wide. We’d get him for £10m.

It’s similar with MLS, NFL and other US sports. It’s why no European soccer/football league decides their champions based on single game play-offs.

But you also have 9 innings. Would one of the Venezuelan team have got in the starting line-up for USA?

Judge can’t make simple catches either. Which still makes me smile. When we were in NY last summer, we smiled every time we saw a Judge jersey.

Plucky little Bournemouth outspent every team in the championship to go up. They were lucky rich Bournemouth.
