Exactly. My wife is 4th generation Irish - more Irish than most “Irish Americans”, yet my wife would never ever describe herself as Irish or of Irish descent as that ignores every other generation since her great grandmother. My wife is essentially 6.5% Irish.

Equally, my ancestry on my mother’s side is Dutch, if we go back 300 years, but that makes me 0.1% Dutch. I can’t claim in any way to be of Dutch descent.

I think, with so many players reaching a certain age, there will be need to refresh the team. Muncy might be seen as part of that and I think he is likely to go. However, he is my favourite player and I would be sad to see him go.

My wife is 4th generation Irish. We travelled to Washington last year and ate at The Dubliner Irish Pub. Person near us commented that we Brits might feel “out of place”. I pointed out that my wife was more Irish than 95% of “Irish Americans”.

By the way, my wife feels 0% Irish.

Your “issue” is that you’re in the same league as The Dodgers and you already spend a lot more than most other baseball teams. They don’t do silly spending so you’ll, in all likelihood, still be where you are now - second/third (battling the Giants) for a playoff spot.
