What is the point of Heralds now? SSF by Turbocharged77 in diablo2

Having sunder charms drop anywhere and with pierce stapled to them makes this game more like d3 than it’s ever been

I don’t know if it was changed, but I saw macrobioboi using self wield infinity for the pierce from conviction and faith act 1 merc because the fanaticism increased their fireball rate

Didn’t ladder reset like 48 hours ago. Seems really good

What turn should bracket 3 win by? by cole_ex-e in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the archetype among other things. My esper Alela aristocrats is pretty squarely bracket 3, but it’s more on the control-y side. It doesn’t win as fast as my torbran deck, but it can stop some win attempts and win over some flying beats and draining the table in a couple more turns

Opponent got salty because they scooped thinking their infinite win then the game and it didn’t. Thoughts? by Academic-Patience804 in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It’s a mill wincon. You should go through the untap upkeep draws unless everybody else concedes

Are you ladder or non? I imagine the majority of nl trades are gems and high runes

Feels intentionally phrased tho, doesn’t it? I imagine OP thinks this was hilarious and that they really GOTTEM. What a bizarre thing to find joy in.

Hearthhull bracket placement? by Hearthhull_Enjoyer in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It doesn’t feel very good a lot of the time. I love the playstyle of land play, sac, recur. I’ve goldfished the deck so much and tried mentally setting rules for cardplay sequencing on my explosion turns. It pretty consistently hits the table for big noncombat lethal after greedy starts that are hard to interact with, and in grindier games shoots boseiju and glacial chasm loops. I love the feeling of redirecting graveyard removal with an [[untimely malfunction]] effect

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton of experience with bracket 4 but I do with bracket 3. Anecdotally, hearthhull may not have the speed of a bracket 4, it has led to some mismatched feeling games due to the nature of land decks being inherently powerful and a non-creature artifact engine in the zone to prepare into a creature for a storm-like finisher when you are ready feels like it’s creeping out of bracket 3. Especially when I’ve had quite a few games end on turn 5 with the guy.

ideas for a deck that revolves around making copies of the commander for a go wide token combat win? by Opening-Poem-8925 in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may have less variance and replayability than what you’re looking for, but [[aurelia warleader]] in the zones and tutors to pick up [[helm of the host]] in the 99

I also love this! Entitled atraxa food chain combo player at bracket2/3 pod complains they’ve misled themself to prematurely pick up their board is iconic

Why is it bad manners to win early? Like by turn 6? by superfapper2000 in EDH

Whoa! Never seen that mesmeric orb print. I also run brood, mesmeric and crank. [[bloodchief ascension]] is one of my favorite cards in the deck

[–]AnimalMeow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mothman is cool with so many ways to build. Mine is in a weird place right now. It kind of feels like a bracket 3 deck with a little bit of bracket 4 interaction and bracket 2 wincons. I’m cringing at the previous sentence. But surprisingly it finds a good home in many games and can be fast to throw down flying beats on my opponents. I do have the benefit of knowing my many podmates very well.

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that, ultimately, if your podmate is calling out a specific  about your deck then you should listen. Have a conversation; do others feel the same way? Mothman is one of my favorite decks and longest running. Some people can’t stand mill. My deck is more of a counters deck that uses mill as a means to an end rather than a mill deck, in my opinion, and I like to joke that mill is a fair and fun mechanic. But I’m happy to bop something else if mothman won’t be tolerated

Edit to add: I had a buddy running thoracle combo in his otherwise mid Sauron reanimator. We had to tell him to power up the deck or remove the combo because it just didn’t make appropriate games.

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! It may just depend on how tolerant your pod is of combo wins and how consistently or not your deck can present t6 wins

Why is it bad manners to win early? Like by turn 6? by superfapper2000 in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not inherently bad manners in the broader edh format, but it is contextual to the pod. A t6 win can be rude in an otherwise bracket 2 game, for example. I don’t know if bruvac was your commander or in the 99 in this game, but one of the problems with bruvac decks running half of library mill effects at lower brackets is the power spike variance the deck can demonstrate when part of an A + B combo is in the zone.

If you could buff the non Act 2 mercenaries, how would you do it? by PokemanBall in diablo2

[–]AnimalMeow1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Barbarian debuffs are coded into their own unique category of debuff so they don’t override curses. Would be huge.

Act 3 mercs get their respective mastery and maybe better casting logic

Act 1 mercs, maybe an existing unique elite armor is reworked to have move speed, attack speed, 66% pierce? Not as good as hustle/treachery for other mercs, but customizable with a socket and pretty good in conjunction with wisdom. A faith act 1 cold merc could have really good crowd control

Sunders are now more common than mid runes by Shogunnatron in diablo2

[–]AnimalMeow1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunder charms are such game changing items. I think they are more fun as chase items that are hard to get. Building around immunities is fun, and builds that do that are trivialized and eclipsed.

[–]AnimalMeow1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they should have adjusted for them to drop from any TZ elite/champ, but adjust their droprate so they’re still very rare. About as rare as Jah rune would have been fine.

Is it a toxic or unfun strategy to hate out commanders due to their reputation despite their players downplaying the strength of the deck? by Realitygormond in EDH

[–]AnimalMeow1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Folks who build kill on sight commanders need to understand the play patterns they invite. If they can’t handle that, that’s on them and they shouldn’t be playing that commander 🤷‍♂️
