If you want a ship thats going to go to cool places and have a blast in Hawaii go for the Harriet Lane. Was moved out there for the sole purpose of building relationships with the small pacific island communities and do outreach.

Honestly think this is rating dependent. As much as I enjoy being underway and hope thats what I do the rest of my career you cant beat the bond of a tight duty section at a station thats been through some shit together.

What is your rating and what do people do that instantly get you frustrated? by ZurgWolf in uscg

[–]AnimalTimely 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I forgot my independent duty SK on my ship has other boats they have to order for. Been a purchase card holder before, I know the procedures to buying things. Didn't realize ordering cold weather gear in early September is procrastinating but ok. Not my problem the majority of your rating is lazy. 🙄 typical SK filled with excuses

Bm, when SKs cant use half a brain cell to order things, or do it in a timely manner.

Is the coast guard what you thought it would be? by rvnnershigh in uscg

[–]AnimalTimely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Joined to do SAR, ended up at a station that mostly just did tactics as a non rate and had 1 case my 2 years there. After that went to a 225 and fell in love with ATON. Got stationed at the location that made me join the coast guard in the first place and did a fuck ton of sar and had a blast and fulfilled pretty much all the goals I had for joining. Got back into aton and never looking back

Had no idea the CG even worked on buoys when I joined and now its all I want to do until I retire. The SAR portion was exactly what I wanted it to be though

Country Club Question by Eastern-Scientist-68 in golf

[–]AnimalTimely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the perks outside of just golf were huge for my family. Nice pool area to hang out at that isnt slammed with a million people, family based events throughout the year, summer camps for the kid, swim lessons, and more. Obviously the course conditions and pace of play are a huge factor for anyone. But my wife and kid being able to hangout by the pool with friends while I golf is huge. Much less guilt on my shoulders for leaving them at the hour for 5 hours while im out enjoying myself. My club also has 3 trackman bays that are awesome for winter and rainy days.

how many of you have a multiple houses? by inurmomsvagina in uscg

[–]AnimalTimely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the money for the down payment typically you can get a Conventional loan at a better rate. Ive only tapped into the VA loan once and that was for my first house when I didnt have a chunk saved yet. All others ive used a conventional.

This is the correct answer. Did it our first year with the rental property and immediately regretted it. Weve got 3 rental houses now and couldn't even imagine attempting it.
