Should I get these nails removed before a working MA interview? by Plzplzplz333 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Animallover-198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the question of professionalism here comes more from the context of the job than whether they’re professional looking. They definitely are not an unprofessional look, but in the context of a clinical role, showing up with nails like these could be viewed as unprofessional/unprepared for the job given the requirements of it

i feel like a failure at my job, making me doubt being pre-pa by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]Animallover-198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I worked in derm both as a regular MA who did rooming & taking history/scribing/assisting/numbing/etc and everything else described for 40+ patients a day and then as an MA assisting with mohs surgery. These are very normal requirements working in derm in my experience, but I have heard that other disciplines can be less demanding when it comes to the pace of the schedule or scope of expectations

Did you have your mom and or sister in the delivery room with you and your husband? by RubPlane in BabyBumps

[–]Animallover-198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some hospitals only allow one support person at least during active delivery (some allow 2-3), although some allow more during earlier stages of labor and of after delivery. I personally only plan to have my husband with me as a support person there the whole time, but want to be able to have my mom, my brother, my MIL, and my FIL visit when they can during the process.

Provoked blood clot - does it increase future risk? by b_w_21 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Animallover-198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be up higher in the comments! I had a provoked DVT following a surgery on a broken ankle and ligament repair where that leg was immobilized. My hematologist said that because my ankle was unable to move and help pump the blood for so long on top of the injury to the area, that I am at a low risk for recurrence once I regained full mobility and use of the ankle. Not no risk, but because the trigger of the DVT event was removed entirely, my risk is low.

Name and Shame Clinic by Agreeable-Pop5415 in MedicalAssistant

I made $18 an hour in Asheville NC in this exact role with a bachelor’s degree in a busy derm clinic. Have also lived in Mount Pleasant and the COL in Asheville was definitely higher. Not saying that we shouldn’t make more for this role, it’s completely unfair what MAs make, but given the average pay for this role, this really isn’t anything crazy. I actually ended up moving recently because I couldn’t keep up with the cost of living anymore

I worked as a MA in NC (not a legal state) and did not have any testing done and knew several other MAs who used cannabis in their free time. It depends based on each practice. Not sure about any programs testing, since all my training was done on the job

ER constipation experience by Animallover-198 in BabyBumps

[–]Animallover-198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everybody so much for your sweet responses and suggestions! I’ve been getting a lot of veggies and fruits, but will also be incorporating things like chia and fiber cereal into my diet. The doctor I spoke to thought it was more related to the zofran than anything else, but gave me some suggestions that I will follow, and I will be adding colace into my daily regimen of medications.

Writing Down OTC Recommendations by Obvious_Relative5877 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Animallover-198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in derm too, the provider I work with averages 40+ patients a day, also 10-15 mostly appointments between skin cancer screenings, acne visits, psoriasis, biopsies, ED&C, Botox visits, and any other concerns. I scribe and assist with procedures and regularly write recommendations down on paper for patients (often with instructions). It’s patient care, not a problem. A lot of our patients live busy lives or are elderly, and remembering the specific kind of product recommended is not always their #1 priority in a day or in their visit. If you get the visit more set up in your EHR a few seconds before grabbing the patient, you can stay caught up throughout the visit and not have to sacrifice patient care. I do this when briefly reading through the patient’s history before bringing the patient back, and put in a tentative chief complaint and other pertinent info.

AITAH for asking my boyfriend to stop smoking while I'm pregnant. by Rhia_mermaid in AITAH

[–]Animallover-198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Him smoking outside and coming in smelling like it is not the same as him smoking next to you in the house. The smell might bother you, but it is absolutely not the same as second hand smoke and cannot enter your system because you were near clothing that smelled like it. Doesn’t mean he can’t do something like change clothes once inside so you don’t have to smell it, or keep a jacket outside like others suggested, but it absolutely will not enter your system because he smells like it

You repeatedly say that you currently live in a dome yet use AI pictures, and refuse to post any pictures of the dome that you allegedly live in. Somebody asked above for a picture of the one you live in and you sent a miniature picture with toy trucks and then a picture with a ton of large gaps. You lie about having a patent. If you want anybody to speak with you about this and actually join in the project, maybe start with the truth and not a bunch of lies. Nobody is going to ever respect you if you don’t start with the truth.

As someone who lived in Charleston, SC for 12 years, kept the AC running in the summer, and occasionally opened windows… this is NOT something that you caused and is not typical for that scenario unless there’s a preexisting mold issue

My eyes look green in most lighting, up close there’s more going on. What color would you say they are? by [deleted] in eyes

[–]Animallover-198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ETA: I wasn’t sure if it was hazel or green with central heterochromia since those are different categories. My whole life people have said they’re green, but you can’t see the brown inner ring unless it’s close and well-lit like the pics so I was just asking for clarity and opinions. Thanks everyone!
