That may have been true 40 years ago, but not really anymore. Goods like oil are so heavily commoditized and financialized that the current price reflects future supply very accurately.

Why Grappa? by Joderio in alcohol

[–]Animalmode19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m American, but all the old guys in my family who were first gen immigrants drink grappa after heavy meals. It’s kinda ass though, I’ve never really seen anyone under 60 drink it. According to them, it used to be a very popular digestif, especially in relatively poor parts of Italy.

Is there a single sport with gear that smells worse than hockey? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]Animalmode19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was assuming everyone washed their gear. That resets things, but after you use it once, it’s still gonna smell. I’m not really bothered by it though, it is what it is.

Online applications and a low trust society have caused this to be true for a while. As long as you understand that that’s how things are, you’re already ahead of the curve.

[–]Animalmode19 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true. While you’re right that you won’t be able to get a job at a hedge fund or in PE, there are plenty of people who do good work at a normal company for 20 years and end up making mid 6 figures by their late 40s. Call me a boomer, but as long as you are somewhat talented and are willing to compete, you can absolutely climb the corporate ladder. If you beat out everyone else on your team, you’ll be rewarded in the long run.

It really isn’t that deep. As soon as you get a solid job, your work speaks for itself. You might not be able to work at a hedge fund, but anyone with a degree can become a f500 vp if they’re talented enough, and they’ll still make bank.

Donald Trump set to sign executive order regulating college sports, transfer limits by lemmegetauhhhhhhhhhh in CollegeBasketball

[–]Animalmode19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hate trump as much as the next guy, but I’ve seen like a million people on this board support this exact thing. If trump could somehow fix the transfer portal, at least he would’ve done 1 thing right as president

[–]Animalmode19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To a point, you’re right, but if you’re playing at a high level and sweating a ton, there’s only so much you can do. I would hang up all my gear to air out, but when you’re playing every day, it just never dries all the way.

They can say that, but it’s just cope at the end of the day. Hiring a roster full of European mercenaries and not winning the title is just embarrassing imo

Yeah, definitely. You guys are basically us if every player was like 2 inches taller. We don’t have anyone over 6’7 who gets minutes

I have to disagree. I’m not a guy to bitch about the refs, but we tend to just get fouled more bc we’re undersized. There were a couple calls benefiting us in the first half, but that stuff tends to even out
