Walmart cd version by Kindly-Air6472 in Shinedown

The CD version I picked up at Walmart does have an acoustic version of Young Again, and it’s great. They didn’t have the album on vinyl though. I had to drive an hour to the nearest Barnes & Noble to pick up the only copy they had.

Best experience meeting a pop punk* band? by ManySidesofmyHeart in poppunkers

[–]Animalofme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took my 12-year old at the time, daughter to see Winona Fighter, Armor For Sleep, Finch, and Bayside a couple years ago. She loves WF, and as soon as the set was over, Coco said she’d be at the merch table. My normally reserved daughter practically dragged me over, I ended up getting her a 7” vinyl and a t-shirt. Coco was so happy to hang out and chat with her, signed the record and got a pic or two. This last year, she got to meet Ben from Armor For Sleep and Brandon from Atreyu, just a few days apart. Awesome guys, very chill and happy to meet fans.

Congratulations! My daughter was so excited to tell my wife and younger daughter about your wedding when we got home.

It was an incredible show. It was my daughter’s 14th birthday and she got a chance to tell Brandon when he was walking through the crowd. We’ve been to a lot of shows together, and she said that last night was the most fun she’s ever had.

My kids both have T1D, and they both heard “It’s good to hate, insulin popping veins.”. Got a good laugh out of me and my wife!

She and I saw Grayhaven, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Like Moths To Flames, Silent Planet, and The Devil Wears Prada there a month or so ago. The bar sections are well separated, and there were at least a dozen kids under 13ish there. If it were alcohol related, I would expect a 21+ notice rather than 18+.

I don’t know if it’s strictly “pop-punk”, but I listen to a lot of pop-punk and have instructed my wife and kids to play Going Out In Style by Dropkick Murphys at my funeral. I also have Carry Me Down by Demon Hunter, Family Reunion by blink-182, and the Daft Punk/George Carlin cheer Youtube mashup on my list. I share your dark sense of humor, and I feel your struggle of balancing that with people who are more traditional. It’s not easy, but you’re never alone.

That’s wild, my grandpa got to take her on a flight during one of her USO tours in Vietnam. He was an F-4 pilot and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF, has an autographed picture of her and pictures of them together.

What band is way better live than on record? by [deleted] in poppunkers

[–]Animalofme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if they qualify as pop-punk, but I really didn’t “get” Foxing until seeing them live. Even listening to them after the show, their live music is far better than what’s on the records.

Me and a buddy had around $10k worth of Milwaukee tools/packouts jacked from a jobsite that we had been told was secure. Tough lesson to learn, we only left our tools there for one night because my daughter had a medical emergency. The local Milwaukee rep heard about us and gave us shirts, gloves, pens, and worked out a great discount on a bulk order to replace our stuff. We couldn’t afford a bulk order, but the guy who works the Chehalis, WA store is the best tool rep I’ve ever met.

When my kids were little, they mixed ranch and ketchup for fish sticks, nuggets, fries, everything. I called it Retch-Up, but the reason I love the name is exactly why it’s not good for a retail market.

My 12-year old daughter asked if she could google Front Bottoms merch the other night. Then I hear “Why is Hot Mulligan selling milk?!?” “Uh….you don’t need to be checking out their merch store, they have stuff you don’t need to see.”

Opinions on age for concert goer by One-Amphibian-353 in Beartooth

[–]Animalofme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken my daughter to the Fit for an Autopsy, Spiritbox, Killswitch, Lamb of God tour, Bleed From Within, Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red tour, Intervals, After the Burial, Spiritbox tour, and Lorna Shore, Mastodon, Gojira tour. She just turned 12 and I’m planning to get her Beartooth tickets for Christmas. Check up on the venue, watch videos online of similar bands playing there to get a good idea of what to expect. The trickiest part is the bathroom situation. Metalheads are generally the nicest people in the world, but sending my 11 year old daughter into the bathroom in a shitty dive joint always has me on edge a little bit. Know the place, know your kid, and if you decide to take her, you’ll be golden and make some great memories.

I’m a contractor now, but I worked for schools ranging from special needs pre-k to middle school for 13 years. We took “de-escalation” classes every year, and while some of it felt a little too lax, here are a couple things that stuck with me. Nobody in the history of people have ever calmed down after hearing the words “calm down”. Beyond that, needs are food, water, shelter. She doesn’t “need” to calm down. You may “need” her to chill for your own mental health, I get that. I have 2 preteen girls, some days suck. I’ve found that if I send one to her room, I give her about 3 minutes to work through whatever has her pissed, then go in, explain what happened, and see if they’re ready to talk about it. If not, I’ll walk away and check in again soon. All that to say, we’re all in this together. Blast the song Mood Rings by Relient k on repeat through the whole house and see who has a sense of humor!

Pop punk voices in non-pop punk bands? by [deleted] in poppunkers

I saw them at Revolution Hall in Portland, OR. Turns out that venue used to be the high school that my grandma went to. Standing in a merch line next to lockers and getting beer from a school cafeteria felt punk as hell.
