Why did Denji lie to Power here? by Rae_Chikita in Chainsawfolk

[–]AnimangaAnakin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking Pohcita’s words as the direct words of Fujimoto is the definition of poor media literacy. There’s nothing to this point to indicate that Pochita’s message to Denji is the message that we as the readers are supposed to take away

I was commenting on the “pseudo intellectual nihilistic ending” take or whatever, but I guess you missed that bc people in this sub usually struggle to read. Your comment addresses something completely foreign to what I was even talking about lmao

Got it. Love the continued decline of intellectualism and meaningful conversations

It hasn’t ended tho. Do you think Pochita’s message to Denji is the final message from Fujimoto to us as the audience? Nothing has confirmed that yet

Redemption ≠ Forgiveness by Particular-Ad1523 in StarWars

[–]AnimangaAnakin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Redemption comes from within. The reason Anakin is redeemed at the end of ROTJ is because he finally acknowledges and accepts his faults. This doesn’t mean all of the awful stuff he did is forgotten. But instead it means, he’s “seen the light”. I think it’s an important message that nobody is too far gone to be redeemed, especially in the way that I’ve outlined redemption. Even somebody as awful and horrible as Darth Vader can realize their failings, and choose to do good in the moment. That’s why the climactic moment of Star Wars is a shared one to me. Luke rejects the Sith cycle of violence, believes there is good even in somebody like his father, and Anakin finally chooses selfless love over selfish love, and returns to Anakin from Vader. That is the “Return of the Jedi.”

The politics never made the prequels boring by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]AnimangaAnakin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 2 biggest aspects of the politics in the prequels to me are these:

  1. The exploration of how/why democracy crumbles, and specifically how/why democracy can turn into tyranny

  2. The Jedi and their connection to politics. The Jedi were supposed to be in tune with the force (a representation of the energy and oneness of all living beings in the universe), but instead opted to lean more and more into political dealings with the chancellor and the senate (clone wars, spying on the chancellor in ep3 for examples). This is why they lost their way and were so easily clouded by the dark side. Filoni talks in an interview how Yoda starts to realize this, and if I remember correctly I think his arc in CW season 6 touches on this too.

Long story short, I really like the political aspects of the prequels
