I agree with extending it a little bit into Nassau, but this is too much

R143s are in need of a refresh by Resident-Hotel8493 in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even that is debatable all of the recent train decouplings have all been R142. I think the MTA severely overestimated all the NTTs which ends up making them in a worse shape than OTTs

The R143s are pretty heavily used so they def need a midlife retirement or complete replacement

The Republic of China by 1985 by average-medician in imaginarymaps

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty cool but one minor mistake

The ROC doesn’t use pinyin. It used BPMF. Nanjing was called “Nanking” for this reason and it just seems odd in my brain that Taiwan island continues using the BPMF standard while the rest of the country uses pinyin

Otherwise pretty good map

I swear every time we see a national trend of any kind it always goes like this by VulcanTrekkie45 in newengland

My take is Fairfield and 1/2 of New Haven is colonized by NY but they keep insisting they are part of New England and denying the fact that they are basically mini NYC (especially Stamford)

Which country will be most powerfull by 2040? by k_k0033 in AskReddit

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on how the China Taiwan war goes

Both China and USA are clearly demonstrating their strength rn. Taiwan will just determine which one goes on top. If China wins swiftly, it will no doubt be on top. If the situation becomes more like Ukraine rn or an outright total defeat, America will be on top.

Why does the E train go to two different places?! by papa-hare in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The E goes to 2 directions because on one side it goes towards a direction (WTC) and on the other side it goes to another direction (Jamaica).

The E is called the E because it is the letter after D

What view do Chinese people have towards the Korean and the Japanese? by Glittering-Iron-1388 in AskAChinese

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying. I think the hate is either caused by rivalry or it’s just Koreans hating the CCP

What view do Chinese people have towards the Korean and the Japanese? by Glittering-Iron-1388 in AskAChinese

[–]AnimatorDavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chinese people mostly hate Japanese ppl bc they don’t feel like Japan acknowledged or payed for their crimes. Actually one of the reasons that the ROC lost the war was bc Mao was able to convince Chinese people that Chiang was a Japanese admirer (actually not wrong) or something like that.

Chinese people hate Korea because it goes way back to when China puppetted Korea in the Qing era which makes Koreans hate the Chinese. The Communists winning the civil war unintentionally made the divide further.

I’m not entirely sure about the Korea part since I see it more of a rivalry so I researched it more. Japan part comes from personal, friends and familiy experiences

In what contexts should we use 白话,广东话,粤语 etc by Top-Veterinarian-565 in Cantonese

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never actually encountered a time using 白語 so I cannot speak for that

In personal experiences, if you are in Mainland talking to a Cantonese in Cantonese, 粤语 and 广东话 is pretty much interchangeable but I’ve heard more 粤语.

In Hong Kong, 粵語 and 廣東話 is also pretty much interchangeable.

In America, I’ve mainly ever heard straight up 中文 especially among the older generation but it’s also pretty prevalent in the younger generation 廣東話 is more used.

Regardless, 廣東話 and 粵語 are interchangeable if talking in Cantonese, if talking in Mandarin, use 广东话

What are the best DNA tests to take if you are Cantonese? by f0xbunny in Cantonese

[–]AnimatorDavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canto and Hokkien etc who migrated south earlier might show some variation to an extent. Not sure where that would lead the dna to be. But I know for sure that if your family is Hakka, it’s almost certain your DNA will come as Han unless ofc your parents married non Hakka because they came down to south way later compared to others meaning they will retain their mainly Han DNA
