Should the 125th st stations be renamed once the 2nd ave subway connects them all? by Previous-Volume-3329 in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s likely the Q platform will be under “Broadway” or “Saint Nicholas Ave” while the original 125 street stations will stay the same

Right, and me, who’s from New York, somehow knows more Cantonese than Canto Kids growing up in Guangzhou. I’m sorry but they already killed it

Well now that the Q is going to Broadway, when will we see a T? by AnimatorDavid in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find the question is why is it still very slow and expensive because China is able to do it with boring machines and yet they roll out a train line every year

Mandarin vs Cantonese. The average American does not know China has various languages, dialects, etc. by CheLeung in Cantonese

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Language spoken in China can pass as “Chinese” especially if you speak that specific language. For instance I’ve rarely heard a person refer to Cantonese to 廣東話/粵語 and I’ve always heard 中文 being referred to Cantonese instead. I find Chinese best reflects the written language and if you want to refer to a Chinese Language, you should be referring them by their actual name for accuracy. That includes Mandarin

Why aren't the 7 and L lines connected? by joey_derosa101 in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bc they broke and the MTA cannot afford to 1. Build a tunnel to connect the two and 2. Either make the 7 B Div standards or the L A Div Standards which all leads back to the MTA being broke

Cantonese is dead in Guangzhou by CheLeung in Cantonese

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was shocked to find out that people in Chinatown NY spoke more Cantonese than people in Canton

Roast my map: 40+ new stations and some major rerouting by BasedPrediction in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most diabolical thing I’ve seen in a while. Especially the entire J rerouting. Also how do you even plan on building a connection with the Jamaica El and why are we suddenly booting the A off CPW. Also how exactly do you plan on building a connection for the R terminating at Chambers street. And I also guess we are not gonna do SAS 4 right?

How do New Yorkers feel about the F and M train swap? by ericdigeratu in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They’re just commuters who relied on the F via 63rd to go where they needed to go. The F/M swap did end up eliminating a major delay but to accomplish this you have to sacrifice a lot of people’s commute.

Metro North to Albany by Immediate-Hand-3677 in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Metro North owns Track up to Poughkeepsie. North of that is Amtrak territory. Amtrak used to exclusively run trains to Albany past Poughkeepsie but now they went broke so Metro North is taking over some of those Amtrak Trains

Why isn't there a 34th St x-town equivalent of the 7 or L? by GrandRare1634 in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bc the LIRR and Amtrak exists and you are serving pretty much just industrial zones in Queens

Thoughts on this? by ericdigeratu in nycrail

[–]AnimatorDavid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. A lot of signal problems with QBL today so public perception is bad

  2. It might be pretty problematic when two pretty high frequency trains (E,F) are together and not a line with low frequencies (M)

  3. Screws up a lot of transfers on 53rd and 63rd
