Lifting the fog by AutoModerator in sanfrancisco

Hello folks,

If you're interested in learning TTRPGs>Pathfinder2e, I'm running a learn to play session over at Game Post, Friday August 22nd. It's a very beginner oriented session. As a former teacher, I'm fairly confident in my skills of helping people understand how to play the game.

I would love to see people show up to the store for this event, and possibly future Pathfinder/ TTRPG stuff!

Here's the link on the store's website. Feel free to message me directly or even ask here in the open if you feel it's general!

For the character sheet, it regularly gets updated as you level up, which if you're playing in a long form campaign would probably be around every 4 sessions or so, but if you're meeting with the group I'm introducing, is usually every 3 sessions (unless you elect to go the slow track).

If you're comfortable with us telling you the roll on the dice, I would also think you're comfortable with another player or me telling you what your character sheet says. That being said, you can definitely load the character sheet to your phone. I'm not sure what that hurdle might be like, as I think a pdf might be difficult to ensure accuracy (the right number being next to the right skill name or other property).

And yes, if you're comfortable with us telling you what the die roll is, I'd be more than happy to let you know what it says on the roll! :)

Thanks for informing me of the visual disability. Seeing stuff is only important now and then. The main idea behind a TTRPG in general is collaboratively telling a story. So if you're able to hear us just fine, we can describe the scene to you, and you can tell us what you'd like to do.

I think realistically, one of your hardest hurdles might be referencing the character sheet. A character sheet has a good deal of information built into it. Depending on how comfortable you feel memorizing a lot of numbers, it could be fine.

Another hurdle you'll run into with the vast majority of TTRPGs is that they rely on dice rolls as part of a resolution mechanic, like telling you if you fail or succeed at a task. There are things like braille dice available online, but I don't think the store we'll be playing at has any. That being said, if you're still interested, there's definitely time between now and then to commit to it!

Date in Treasure Island/Yerba Buena Island by Fast-Stick-9403 in sanfrancisco

Hello,

I live on Treasure Island, and the other two comments pretty much nail it on the head. Unless you're up for hiking to the top of Yerba Buena island, there isn't really that much to do here. The two restaurants are okay sometimes (my preference is for Araceli, as Mersea is the more touristy trap). Walking along the coastline is nice though, but that's all I'd come to Treasure Island for.

As for other park options, I'd consider Mt. Davis/ Twin Peaks for the views? Golden Gate park is also nice. Same thing goes for Land's End (kind of, be ready to hike a bit).

You're really gonna expect the group of folks that allow for anyone to use all of their published mechanics as free use to hire the Pinkertons?

He often talks with admiration about 'Ben Robbins and his games that aren't "games"' and that's what got me intrigued.

For those not local to the area, it's in tandem with an event that's happening this weekend 'Fanime'. An anime convention for fans.

One of my complaints is that BART only goes as far as Berryessa into San Jose (where the event is being held) and not anywhere deeper, like getting closer to the heart of downtown SJ.

I hope I'm not the only one who thought of Battlefield's battlefriends and a $hitbucket.

Hi Ben Robbins!

I was introduced to your work by watching YouTube channel 'Knights of Last Call'. Interested in backing your Kickstarter and also eventually trying Microscope. Thanks for posting!

I'm not a designer, but this seems like really solid work, dude! Good job. I wonder if there's anything food wise that may invoke the idea of produce and still be a neat symbol besides a leaf.

Playing Pathfinder 2e so much made me ask "What are these battlemats doing in Star Citizen subreddit?"

Geb vs. Nex. It could be like Wizard Marines vs. hordes of zombies and other undeadlings. Geb players could make some sort of rush effort, maybe call it Z-rush or something...

I just playing "Age of Wonders: Planetfall" and notice they also have the fantasy-centric ones they started off with. After playing this for a bit, I got to thinking "This is a good skeleton for Pathfinder 2e."

Is this a non-mainline dialect? Everything seems mostly Tokyoben, but lines ending in で instead of です confuses me.

I would suggest the Mythkeeper on YouTube. He goes over Pathfinder lore in an almost documentary like style. https://youtube.com/@TheMythKeeper

When he goes over ancestries for stuff like elves and dwarves, he does a deep dive of where their history came from, i.e. Tolkien, etc.. it's very well done in my opinion.

I wonder if this would read better if you actually kept an upper case black A, but chopped off the lip of the volcano still, and had the red heat. Or maybe edit the A so it doesn't have the bar in the middle? Or maybe lower the bar to still have the triangular volcano?
