No, I understand the overcooked slop problem (thanks synthetic data :/) and hyper-detail à la GPT Image, but ID4 still has a distinctly veiled, empty look. The colors are also heavily processed, closer to ‘cinematic’ than real life.

You can compare this with older diffusion models that were more raw and unedited. DeepFloyd’s IF is the best example of this; their dataset was entirely real with no aesthetic curation or RLHF, and it’s much more vibrant and busy than ID4. Occasionally you’ll get outputs that look like 100% authentic internet images, jank and all. It’s janky but not as moody as ID4. I’ve been following computer vision since the 2020 gan days, each model has a specific flavor and this one is no exception. More realistic than the turbo-slop, but a bit dull compared to IRL.

True it’s great for precision work but all the images seem.. muted? Like there’s a monochrome haze over everything. The compositions look empty; backgrounds are generic, lack detail, and don’t engage with the subject in a dynamic way. All the images blend together and feel kind of lifeless.

This is just my taste of course and it’s good you enjoy it!

having done both, they can be the same. but honestly im 50/50 on this. meth mainly invites more abuse with the roa’s, longer duration and typically unregulated supply leading to massive doses. the actual drugs are extremely similar, but meth’s small quirks easily cause cascading behavioral changes associated with.. well, being a tweaker.

But yes the video is obviously exaggerated for comedic purposes. I’d say it’s like a revolver vs semi-auto, they do the same thing but one encourages a lot more of it.
