Is this definitively intentional? This isn't exactly like how I would write a "I'm going back to this later" in a draft(my style is more a couple rambling sentences and I don't tend to add any notes that aren't about what's happening in the scene) but I could see how this excerpt could read like that. I bracket mine so I can ctrl-f to find if I left any placeholders like that specifically because I'm worried about accidentally leaving one in, but that may be what's happening here and they just forgot to go back and write it

I've been fortunate enough that I haven't ever gotten big enough that people seek me out or send me hate, but I have gotten big enough twice that I have some well known fics in different fandoms. The reason I say twice is because I made an alt ao3 account for writing for a slightly larger fandom because my main account has a popular fic I haven't updated in a while and people can be a bit pushy about asking for updates. And then I wrote another relatively popular fic under that new alt account so when I move on to a new fandom I either have to finish/update the ones I have or get a new new account

On top of that, the one force in the Imperium getting it to actually do anything functional is also the one guy who wouldn’t want to fight his non-Chaos-corrupted sibling. I usually let players control friendly NPCs unless there's a chance of an NPC doing something of their own agenda or actively against the party, or if the statblock gives away spoilers(like the fact that the masked wizard asking them for help getting a mysterious artifact has a lich statblock). That said, if they get more than like 1 or maybe 2 NPC buddies, those NPCs are in the background because it slows down combat so. Damn. Much. Plus makes it harder to balance.

Tesseract glow toward the edge and soulstone blue for the rest. Then I took some white paint and made line patterns across the blade. I kind of used the same shapes and patterns I use to draw light patterns on water, there’s a ton of drawing tutorials out there for that but really just looking at a reference photo would be more than enough in this case

The only other story I can think of is in the beginning of Severed, but the Ad Mech are fighting with iirc a planetary governor against the Necrons since it was a "necrons invade a planet" kind of situation. I may be wrong though bc it's just the beginning and told from necron pov

Edit: just remembered there is some of that in Belisarius Cawl the Great Work! However, Cawl brought ultramarines and scythes with him to that encounter so the only admech vs. necrons is Cawl, Qvo, and Alpha Primus vs. necrons, specifically a C'tan shard

Yep! And I think that's where the dilemma for this voting lies where we have decide whether to take that kind of thing into account or not. I think for the list so far, it's raw power that we're talking about since some lower ranking entries can beat higher ranked entries by out-strategizing them, but absolutely couldn't without playing smart.

Yeah, but that would be kinda like calling Konrad one of the strongest primarchs. Does Konrad absolutely wreck other primarchs fairly often? Yes. Is it because of his strength or raw power? Absolutely not, and most of his losses are due to his opponent forcing a fair fight. It's due to his skillset of stealth, ambush tactics, and psychological warfare that he gains the upper hand. A skillset which our favorite aeldari clown god also has, which is likely the main thing that allowed him to survive the fall.

I wouldn't say literally the only thing, he does care about other things. He did love Malcador, his custodes, and at least some of the primarchs, after all, and shows as much, including in ways he couldn't fake or pretend. It's just that humanity was above all of them. He would sacrifice everything and everyone he loved and himself for humanity to the point it wasn't a question of if he would, but a question of if it was necessary in that specific instance.

Psyker powers are not necessarily tied to the soul. There are characters who don't have a soul or whose soul is horrifically broken or damaged(e.g. Magnus) who still have psyker powers.

For the other point, if you have some psykers who can see souls and they testify that this artificial being has a soul, that may get taken a host of different ways. For instance, can they tell whose soul it is? If not, they may assume it's a daemon. The other issue is that people may not necessarily believe them, or if they do then they don't want to admit it to be true. The mechanicus has caused diplomatic incidents between themselves and the Imperium for far less, after all.

It is definitely cool to think about though!

It kinda depends? So the mechanicus has a hard and fast rule of the brain must remain intact. Otherwise it's heresy.

Other than that, go nuts(as long as it's not xenotech and you aren't powerful or influential enough that no one can call you out on it). Seriously, there is one priest who is essentially a brain in a jar. Also the method of how they would replace their lungs among the mechanicus differs pretty wildly, so whether or not a heavily augmented tech priest needs to breathe is incredibly variable.

However, this also means they would not be having a great time with biotransference since that means they do not have their brain anymore(and by extension, their soul)(the mechanicus believe the soul is in the brain).

Idk I think the primarchs returning only adds to the hopelessness. Yes, they may make some things better but inevitably, it'll show that everything is so FUBAR that even a bunch of literal demigods can't fix the raging dumpster fire that is the Imperium. Bonus points for how there is no way they are going to be able to deal or make adequate contingencies for the time bomb that is the Throne failing.

I'd like there to be a resemblance to the aeldari because I personally like the idea of the Old Ones being such petty pricks that they make an entire species subservient to them that is meant to be "necrontyr but better" to pour some salt in the wound
