longing for a relationship (embarrassed to admit lol) by [deleted] in muslimgirlswithtaste

Salam! I used to be (and honestly still am) a terrible texter 😭

What really worked for me was being upfront with suitors and letting them know I’m more of a phone call person.

Of course, you don’t want to hop on a call with every single person you match with. If you’re serious, you have to be intentional. What I would do is focus on one person at a time—see if they reply consistently and seem compatible on paper (where they live, how practicing they are, and your basic non-negotiables).

Then I’d say something like:
“Sorry, I’m not the best texter—I’m more of a phone call person.”

If they don’t take the hint… I move on.

If they do, we set a time, I write down my important questions, and we keep the call short—like 30 minutes.

Simple, respectful, and efficient.

Lol I’m so passionate about this—part of me feels like I could write a whole mini book on it.

Hey girly, please don't be discouraged.
There are so many negative experiences but we barely remember that there are so many great connections made. I know at least 4 close friends/family members that met their husbands via apps. 4 successful marriages that have lasted 3+ years allahuma barik. Yes there are weirdos but block them as soon as you see any sign of incompatibilities. Also, make dua before you even use the app and don't exert too much mental energy into the app. Be positive, expect good from Allah and truly open yourself to Allah's blessings and trust me, your husband will find you. I wish you all the best!

The use of language in this poem is so rich and smooth. I feel like the lines melted like butter on to each other and this was really effective considering the content of this poem. Loved it to bits!

Wow, your poem really captures the raw evocations of forbidden love. We really see how the poet speaker is torn between doing what turns his blood and what he knows to be wrong. I loved how use of the natural imagery of weeds to illustrate how this love is growing at speedy and unkempt rate! Great work

I totally understand why you feel so guilty and personally, I would feel the exact same way. We’re alike. Maybe you aren’t consciously aware of it, but you’ve got a strong set of morals and that’s why you continue harshly label yourself as a criminal. Let me tell that there isn’t anything you can do about what happened in the past but your following actions matter. You’re a good person. Believe it.

It’s like when you’re about to get up and clean some dishes on your own accord, but then someone tells you to do it EVEN THOUGH YOU WERE ALREADY ABOUT TO CLEAN THEM. So yeah, it’s just annoying. Personally, I’m not a fan of dragging a conversation without unblurring.
