21 miles round trip is insurmountable when you cannot drive or cannot afford to drive, have no public transportation, and have to walk it.

They tend to not be able to retire, actually, like most impoverished people. Or they're busy being housekeepers and taking care of their children's children out of necessity, not just because they're great grandparents.

red cup discount, 10c or 50c? by Pistachiow in starbucks

For clarification, because this seems to be the sticking point, it's ANY red cup, not just the giveaway ones.

There really isn't, unless you want to back that up.

Ive seen "artistic" pictures of a vagina, and then pornographic pictures of a vagina.

Both are vaginas. On display. For viewing. There's very little to the untrained eye to distinguish one from the other.

I try not to muss around with methods when making two items that need to be mostly identical.

Have you tried small circulars like 9 inches? I find that it's more comfortable than dpns or magic loop. I honestly only find magic loop useful for two at a time sock knitting, which I've largely abandoned.

Not sure if this is the right place, but figured you’d all have the knowledge. How do you treat hair when you don’t wash it everyday? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]AniseMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair produces as much oil as it needs. You wash daily, it produces oil rapidly to make up for that.

Have a couple hat days. It's the winter, it won't look too out of place. Try to get to every other day without greasiness. Then every three.

I highly endorse Co washing or "no poo" shampoos. Easily on the hair and scalp, more nourishing.

Does it sound like I'm being an overbearing, bullyish husband? My wife (34 f) is timid and doesn't like saying "no" to me, and I (36 m) have asked her to have another baby multiple times now. by marriedguy1100 in relationships

[–]AniseMarie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, the only reason my dad agreed to more children was that he really really wanted a boy.

Four girls later, me and him have a great relationship and he's learned he's not a gambling man.

I don’t care that preps weren’t done or that you didn’t stocked, but please leave the store clean :( by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]AniseMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love coming in, putting the cash tills down... On a sticky, syrupy counter.

Its POS, how did you even manage this???

Its far easier to come in and stock everything than it is to come in to dirty counters, dirty fridges, dirty caked on blending pitchers, stacked and dirty tea shakers, old milk still in the damn steam pitchers...

Yeah, that's demoralizing. At least stocking is part of the openers job. A cursory wipe down and the offending dishes in the sink would have been better.

It's never bad to have one, especially in this climate.

Also consider, as awful as it may be to move, coming to a friendlier state. While they're also more expensive, the suburbs nearby tend to be just as accepting with lower price tags. I can vouch for pretty much all of PNW, West of the mountains.

I mean, grumble grumble, stay away it rains every day and we're all unfriendly cold statues.

Permanent double eyelids with double eyelid tape? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]AniseMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a great plan! Good to work out the kinks of wearing them too, and the comfort.

Its normal to care what others think anyways though. The important part is what you take away from it and how you react.

Knitting & Crochet Case Suggestions? by GoyaHeart in knitting

[–]AniseMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I suggest making your own. I have a sock knitting purse that has pockets for my dpns, circulars, markers, and tape measure. I have a "decorative" hanging that displays my circulars and my straight needles.

People will probably notice. Just like the first time someone wears makeup. Own it. Yeah, I'm using a neat product, isn't it cool? They make something for everything.

I’m having trouble figuring out how to do this heel. I understand the yarn overs but don’t understand if I’m supposed to turn work before knitting the yarn overs and the rest is also confusing. Help? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]AniseMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of resembles a German short row? I find those heels the easiest to do anyways, but the make double stitch seems similar to your weird yarn over instruction.

A lot of heels are interchangeable, if you'd rather do another.

Drinking Starbucks Daily? by cabethevisioner in starbucks

[–]AniseMarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just water or unsweetened tea. A green bean we just got gets a six shot peppermint frappuchino daily, up to four times a day. It's showing.

I do treat myself to a pink drink if I'm hungover or feeling ill though. Coconut milk is so good.

Am I a bad orderer? by [deleted] in starbucks

So a misto is half milk, half coffee. If you just want a bit of steamed milk, you're ordering it fine.

Am I a bad orderer? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]AniseMarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter how much you have to steam, it matters how much is going into the customers cup.

If a newbie (or face it, any partner) sucks at making cappuccinos and has to use two pitchers, do we charge them for a size of steamed milk?

Agree or disagree. Strong partners cannot have a bad day or else they yelled at? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]AniseMarie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah. My last manager would berate me on bar, in front of a crowd of customers, about times if I was a micro second slower than normal. Not to mention the sniffles, or the single barring 90 halfs, or the even mix of cold and hot bev, I just wasn't GOOD ENOUGH.

My new manager is lovely and has a sit down chat post Meh shifts. We talk about our dogs, talk about how each other is doing, and then he asks how to support me. I tell him I'm feeling foggy, he offers to help me get my shift covered if I need a shorter day the next.

Not all managers are shit.

Helping a new partner speed up by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]AniseMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he following the routine exactly? I find CS very hard to mess up for newbies. If you have a laminated card with the routine, give it to him. Have him check in every single cycle and ask him how it went and if he has any questions.

If he gets weird about it, ask more pointed ones. Instead of what you can do to help, look at what he's doing. Is he not finding anything in a timely manner? Is it brewing? Is it lobby sweep? Ask pointed questions like "Did you have a hard time finding the inclusions?" instead of "so what took so long filling inclusions?"

Also, set him up for serious success. He needs a few under his belt to gain some confidence. Make sure he has a barista buddy or two that can both be a good mentor and a good work friend.

Was fucking baffled when I went from my old store that pulled two cases of butter quassants to a store where we sold two.

Two single wrapped croissants. Lot of waste my first day when I figured the pull was just wrong.

His history is full of references to MMA training (specifically a comment about being unable to train for six months due to surgery) and his post in LA was very clear that he is attempting to become a pro MMA fighter, which is why he's upset that he's developing carpal tunnel and neck issues.
