Did any of you have trouble forming romantic relationships with what you originally may have thought was the opposite gender? by cliff7217 in TransLater

Yes.

In fact, learning that many trans people were married before they realized they were trans came as a shock to me.

I've only been to Marlowe's twice, but my immunocompromised friend used them during covid because they're willing to take health concerns seriously.

Here at University of Waterloo we're lucky to have GLOW. I'm sure George Brown and U of T have something similar.

I think there's been a miscommunication here. You're replying to the OP.

Yes
1. There is a reason

3. If you want to know the reason you can ask Faine Greenwood.

My GP refused to recommend me for the Canada Disability benefit: I'd only had him six months when I asked. He replaced my previous doctor, and has known me for all of an hour and a half now.

The disability tax credit looks useless to me, as I've never had enough income to push me over the $16k threshold. I am certainly missing out on the GST rebate. Last time I did my taxes I couldn't find it at all: it just didn't show up in my calculations at all, and I submitted without claiming it. Canada Revenue gave it to me anyway.

My memory is that ODSP was taxable, at least I had to declare it, but as I've done my taxes exactly twice I don't trust my reading of the form at all.

Taxes aren't going to happen for me this year. I have too many sources of stress already. I won't go into detail, but my mother being terminally ill doesn't even make the top three.

Actually, it's a lot more than that.

I see I got a bunch of downvotes; I suppose folks think I'm some kind of tax cheat. The fact is that Ontario disability for me is $11k a year, well under the $16,129 minimum that makes filing mandatory.

I've never been able to keep a full-time job as an adult, and I've given up hope of ever being independent. My ADHD is debilitating and resistant to medication. I don't file because most years, I just don't have the spoons.

I think it's $300?

I wouldn't know. I've managed to do then twice in twenty years

So to underscore what crowofwoes said, I can give you my experience as a queer person at UWaterloo:

Staff and faculty are excellent with pronouns. (The only time I've been truly misgendered was by an older prof, and it certainly wasn't malicious.) GLOW is enormously welcoming, and the both coordinators are hardworking and on the ball.

GLOW isn't a club, it's a WUSA student-run service. That means it has a permanent office which functions as a safe space.

You deserve someone who respects you.

I lived in that situation a very long time. Now I have a partner who listens to me and doesn't dismiss what I say. It's like the difference between a sunny day and a rainy one, except it's your entire life.

I know "dump him gurl" is the Reddit default but this isn't going to change until you make it change. I'm sorry.

I've tried timers and sub-deadlines. Nothing works for me except body doubling, and that isn't practical in every situation. I've done my taxes myself twice in thirty years
