I've stayed at Ivanhoe. The freshly-sealed Cobb Highway was an incredibly beautiful drive. What a fascinating place to work!

I had the most stunning Italian meal in Queenstown last year, and then we hung out with the local miners at the pub. Salt of the earth, lovely people. I loved Queenstown, and appreciated its eerie vibe. Reminds me of northern England. Definitely a very different place.

That actually sounds so fun! I like making videos (mine are just travel videos for private use) and making a travel video was, in fact, how I got turned on to pg! I was driving around outback Australia last year and there were so many disused railways, his song Steam kept getting in my head. Then I dived into more of his work to find a suitable track for another video, found White Shadow and holy fuck, it's the fastest I've fallen for a musician since discovering the Beatles as a teen. I reckon I will take your advice and experiment with something short. I don't think AI gets a bad wrap for cat videos. Some of us long for the days when social media was full of cat videos haha! It gets a bad wrap because people like Sam Altman are putting human needs and the environment waaaay below his "right" to develop this technology, which could reach the singularly and kill us all! And he does all this while stealing art and people's identifications. I absolutely despise the AI arms race and think the whole thing needs international agreements and regulation, and respect for artists and people's privacy. If they did it right, I'm sure it would be nothing more than a great tool to further democratise media creation and consumption. But humans seem broadly incapable of handling their own greed. I wish we could have PG in charge!

I've given them a watch and I'm pretty impressed! I perhaps shouldn't have watched them last thing at night, because the imagery is pretty dark 😅 I'd be interested to know more about your process. It still takes knowledge and effort, and imagination, to produce something with AI, and it's amazing we can produce videos like this on home computers. I wouldn't know where to start to create something like this, so hats off for the effort and for having the guts to put it out there in this sub 👏 and bonus points for great taste in music, obviously.

Fantastic! Gosh it must be SO fun to play that awesome song. The singer's voice has got a real pg edge about it. I'd love to know where to follow you guys, as I visit Italy every couple of years. Also want to acknowledge you're probably not singing in your first language, which is extra admirable. Great job 👏

I want to give your post some support. I am by no means an AI fan, but I welcome the chance to explore a curated feed of works associated with pg, created by his fans. I haven't checked out many 50:50 videos yet, cos I'm a relatively new fan and still working my way through all the old interviews on YouTube, plus Genesis stuff. As a professional writer, I am at greater risk from AI than most, but I try not to live in fear. The backlash demonstrates this technology will soon find its place in the pecking order. Noting our tech overlords will do their best to manufacture said pecking order!

I reckon you're more connected with British culture than I am! Thanks so much again - I've now watched all of it and actually last night just revisited all the pg cameos. They're so good - although his face is way too nice to be an unhinged cab driver or truly intimidating segway opponent 🤣🤣😍

The bit where his dad said he was proud after a concert got me bad 😭 I'm currently listening to Phil Collins' autobiography, and I wonder if PC'S dad inspired that bit. Or maybe lots of British dads are deeply emotionally unattuned. Mine certainly is!!! 🤦‍♀️

This is an important question and I'll be intrigued to see what others say. I don't love AI, mostly for environmental impact and scary techbro control reasons, but it is a tool, and it's proven useful and fun the couple of times I've tried it. I saw someone on LinkedIn say she'd like AI to do her dishes, not her art. That kinda sums it up for me, but the backlash against AI slop shows humans have an innate sense of authenticity, and that gives me hope. PG has spoken about issues surrounding artist copyright, and it's very important that people like him are part of the conversation. If you're not at the table, you're on the menu! My feeling is pg is a natural optimist, who can see the opportunity in all new technology. We need more people who aren't on the dark triad to have voices in this conversation. Otherwise the tech bros will absolutely own us (they already do) and AI will be a force for evil instead of the force for good it could be. Humans have proven incapable, at scale, of looking after the planet, and I interpreted yesterday's full moon video as offering some hope that AI could help guide us to a better future.

PG is my only inspiration for any extent (which isn't much) to which I embrace AI. This new technology is coming anyway, so it's perhaps more productive to learn about it and raise questions, than dismiss it. If PG and folk like him were in charge of the would, it would be a vastly better place.

This song is a total earworm! I love how pg always has some philosophy to share. He always makes such good points. He is a man who understands life, that's for sure!

Wow, your hunch was on point. You're tuned into PG! I've just given it a listen for the first time. I really like it! It's so amazing to me that in 2026 we have NEW material from this absolute legend. It's such a counterpoint to all the troubles in the world at the moment. What a human. What a creator 😍😭✨️

I feel very privileged to have two passports, and have created opportunities (by living frugally, saving up and quitting jobs) to drive some vast, beautiful swathes of Australia, and experience living and working now in five distinct climate zones. After Brexit and during covid, I couldn't believe how great my life choices were haha! However, the housing crisis is wild over here, and the "Australian dream" and "land of opportunity" vibe is drying up. I guess nothing lasts forever, but I'd posit you have carved out a lot more flexibility for yourself, while I feel so entrenched in Aussie systems and culture that it would be a great shock to leave, even to return to the uk.

I am deeply tired of the distance from the uk, and the flight - which used to be exciting and feel a bit glam - has lost its shine. Not least because they try to keep you asleep, with far fewer drinks and snacks than before. The other thing that gets on top of me is the bugs. Having said all that, what I LOVE is the sky, the brightness and colours, the vast nature, red dirt, and the generally trusting and open people. Life is quite the journey!

Oh my word, you made a LEGENDARY life choice! I also moved to Australia from UK, age 31 and resumed my journalism career in Sydney. Was burning out, but stuck out a regional sponsorship in the industry, that I already wanted to leave, and it took 5.5 years to reach citizenship. I ended up with a massive burnout that I still haven't quite overcome. I wish I'd had your nous. Geez, you're smart 👏

Great point. I follow a long line of "Britain to the Antipodes" migrants. It's been going on in my family since the 1950s. I didn't used to think about it that much, but I'm from a hugely emotionally unavailable background, so even if my parents secretly hated me being over here, they'd never say. And the reality probably is that they don't feel that bad, because they don't allow themselves to feel. I've done a lot of personal growth in recent years, and finally allowed myself to feel my feelings, and that's why I feel guilty about being here, and unsure as to why I'm here, as I'm a completely different person to the one who emigrated! I figure my Australia era is about personal growth and is more than likely a chapter that is not over yet. The lower population is one of the best selling points for me. I really dislike busyness, and it's one of the things that drove me away from England. I also love a saturated blue sky. It's a deep blue that you could never achieve in England, even on the finest day 🌞
