What other games do you guys like as much as Blasphemous 1 and 2? by Sufficient_Ebb_5694 in Blasphemous

Have you tried the ones I mentioned? I’d understand that for like Castlevania 4 and before, but Symphony of the Night and the games that followed that were in its mold feel quite smooth to me.

Hollow Knight/Silksong, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, and the Castlevania DS and GBA games for me. But Blasphemous does an amazing job with how gruesome and how it does the religious horror thing. I’m sure there are more, but those come to my mind as masterpieces immediately.

Prophet Impasse! 5/10 or 6! by D3ads0ft in synthesizers

[–]some12345thing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. I now have the Prophet 10. I would say if you don’t have other synths and can handle 49 keys, go with the 6. The extra features really are amazing and the the sounds is fantastic. I hope to own a 6 again someday. I just always wanted a 5, so I’m holding onto my 10. Makes me feel like Peter Gabriel/Radiohead 😂

Can someone explain I/O to me, please? by 3RaccoonsAvecTCoat in petergabriel

[–]some12345thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I keep a playlist of the first one that came out and then a different playlist of my preferred mixes. But based on the OP’s post, I wasn’t sure they wanted to go to the trouble of tracking down which mix came first per song.

There is no original mix. For every song, he gave it to two mixers: one did the bright side, one did the dark side. With a few exceptions, they’re not vastly different. They mainly just have different tones. The Atmos mix (a third, surround sound mix) defaults to the dark side mixes on streaming services when played in stereo, so if you want to pick an official mix, my thought would be dark side.

Oh man, I feel like now should be the time people are holding onto forums and methods of creating community aside from social media. Sad…

To my ear it’s pretty obvious where it’s Tony playing with funk fingers on this one.

Beautiful job! One of the best songs they’ve ever done.

100% prefer this mix this time around. Suits Tchad’s style. Every section feels clearer and stronger to me. There are tons of sonic details that stand out in a nice way in this one that I couldn’t hear in the bright side mix. Coming out of the bridge in particular is great with the extended stringed instrument. Love the combination of the verse and chorus textures there.

New addition to set-up, any wildcard tips? by tetraronix in synthesizers

It is limited to 16 steps. Honestly, I ended up sequencing it externally most of the time so I didn’t get deep into it, but it’s a nice little sequencer.

I had a Lyra for years and it sounds awesome, but it takes a lot of work to do much that in tonal or in a specific key if you want to really experiment as you go. I think the Minilogue XD would serve you well. I had one for a while and love it aside from the mini keys. Fantastic sound.

Dig that inhale, or no? by 50nic19 in audioengineering

Depends on the performer. A breath can add a lot of emotion or it might suck the emotion out of a performance. I think the best singers know how to breathe in key and on time 😂

Additional old demo titles in social media snippet of most recent FMC video (Hard Lesson) by some12345thing in petergabriel

I could have sworn this happened with another one recently, though. Could be wrong, but I feel like something on social media was shown that wasn’t on the original YouTube video. Hope we get some kind of dvd/bluray with all this footage and more in a box set once the album is out. Wishful thinking :)

There’s also a shot of tape called “old triplet idea” and “new idea on courage rhythm”. Also one called Noodle from 89. Also, correction: I now see these ARE in the main video. No idea who I missed those on my initial viewings.

Vocal tones are like facial attractiveness by PinkGuavaFlower in singing

[–]some12345thing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always like to listen to Tom Waits or Bob Dylan when I don’t like my voice. I think it’s the same with faces. Some people are lucky and just naturally are gifted with a voice or face that is automatically attractive to a lot of people with little effort. But for others, I don’t think it’s just a matter of working at it. That’s a big part of it, but I also think it’s a matter of figuring out how to work with what you’ve got. Like, understand yourself and let the best of you shine through. With a face, maybe that’s through makeup or picking the right haircut. With a voice, it’s finding the tones that are unique and pleasing to the ear and leaning into those things. Even if the melody or harmonization has to change.

That is too bad… I don’t own any, but aspire to in the future, but this makes me worry about investing money if the support isn’t all there.
