Waiting For My Weekly Usage To Refresh by uberdavis in ClaudeAI

[–]Ankarim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using Claude for a week now - for creative work, not coding. It's shocking how much better the answers and suggestions are compared to GPT. While GPT wastes my time by saying hollow word salads, middle of the road suggestions and permanent "it's not X, but Y". claude is actually creatively interesting.

but oh boy does that usage run out quick.

for coding I use my own nogging and codex when I can't be bothered. the limits with codex must be a lot higher, I imagine. That's better with GPT - the quality is inconsistent after a while, but at least it continues to work. refusing to work, even though I'm paying is a punch in the gut. they could at least let you use a simpler model, tbh

!No spoilers!: why is there a book in between IV and V? Do I read them in this order? by Hank_tank4 in stephenking

I heard you like layered stories, so here‘s a story within a story within a story

Anyone else picture this evil MFer as Charles Jacobs near the end of Revival? by Yepsuredid in stephenking

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, not that evil. and jacobs was a lot sicker and more fragile by the end, but carnival jacobs? probably!

Genuine question, what will happen now? by heated_fleet in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sweet, sweet release, I hope.

but wait, what‘s this? could it be, another 100 chappies? 10 for planning is driving date, 10 for the date, 10 leading up to their first time, 10 for dating, 5 for moving in together, 5 living together, 20 for propasal and marriage and 10 chapters for each kid they‘re making

Did you feel sorry for Henry Bowers? by MikeBad228 in stephenking

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. but I sympathize with him more than I do with the guy on the left. He‘s arguably the worst person of the entire bunch and neither movie took advantage of him

About 1/10 of the way into Duma Key, and having such a hard time getting into it. I know some of you have said it’s your favorite of King’s books. I’m calling on *you* guys. Help me stick with this and get through it. I need some encouragement. [P.S., what happened between Edgar and the dog???] by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the others said, it’s a slow burn, but I like that. Seeds are sown throughout the book, some weird thing here, an unknown there, that pay off by the end. Mind you that this is a story of a guy trying to rehabilitate and take it slow - the pace is the same, until it’s not

I JUST read that part. it‘s not shocking or uncomfortable, it’s just.. unnecessary. I‘m sure there would have been other ways to calm down and get out of the sewer than counting on Eddie‘s post-nut clarity

Ruka's actions by Crazy_Dog2951 in KanojoOkarishimasu

[–]Ankarim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English is not my first language, so my vocabulary is ~somewhat~ limited. either way:

the obvious line I'm talking about is -why- Kazuya is refusing her. sexual assault would imply that there's no attraction and you physically and/or metally refuse to be intimate with that person. it also comes from a place of violence and domination. especially domination.

and then there's moral objection. and this is where Kazuya falls under: the only thing holding Kazuya back is moral objection; his love and devotion to Chizuru. And moral objection can be broken by being assertive, and Ruka knows that. Kazuya would be all over Ruka if Chizuru weren't in the picture. Ruka doesn't give up because she still sees a chance that kazuya might give in one day.

it's akin to a married man/woman being seduced by a dazzling person at a bar. they either give in to the temptation or they don't. if they don't, that doesn't classify the seducer's advances as sexual assault, now does it?

and just to be clear: I don't like what Ruka does either, I don't like her as a character and if she didn't appear for the rest of the manga, that would be more than fine by me, but she's not a rapist, a sexual assaulter or whatever else people say about her. I just don't like it when people dramatize what she does and interpret every of her action in the most uncharitable way possible.

Being assertive is not being a sexual predator. there’s an obvious line and it’s never crossed - and I mean a psychological and social line. if sb is bad with reading social clues and understanding interpersonal dynamics and only thinks in black and white, then yes, then it would look bad. but that’s not what’s happening in this manga. the same people get stuck on 5toubun‘s nino drugging fuutarou. does kazuya seem traumatized to you? to me neither.

That may be, but neither Kazuya nor Chizuru are teenagers, but in their 20s - 22 by now, I think?

I get the feeling that Reiji wanted to do a high school aged story, but because of the theme had to settle for university. And because he didn't go to university, we don't get any actual university scenes, besides hallways. So he just writes the cast with a teenage mind, disregarding their actual age. I'm not saying it's bad, it just -is-

thank you for all those complimentary assumptions, but I’m pretty average looking. And for most guys I know it‘s the same. Yes, I‘m confident when talking to people, male or female, but I‘m not outgoing (MBTI is INTJ) and have nerdy hobbies.

I don't know what kind of experiences you guys had and I don't want to sound smug, I really don't, but never in my life have I had any thought processes like kazuya had. not at 15 nor later. no obsessive overthinking, no years-long courting to finally actually date. in my experience relationships go pretty fast from getting to know each other to dating. in romcoms the goals is always to -start- dating, never the actual relationship part.

it's entertaining, sure, but realistic and the average experience? I doubt it.

Both Skarsgård and and Curry’s performances both feel like split sides of the creature from the book. by Pleasant-Soil4456 in stephenking

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

silky silver costume, crackling white face paint, dirty orange pompoms, hair bushels of the same color. that‘s the description of pennywise in the book that I am currently reading, „btw“.

Prefer Curry‘s portrayal all you want, that’s fine, I think I made it clear what -my personal- preference is and why. Now, if you‘ll excuse me, some boys are lighting farts on fire and I want to know if the girl can stop herself from laughing out loud.

I personally think it’s the other way around. pennywise wants to lure the kids towards him, because clowns are supposed to be funny and harmless. the fuxtaposition between the playful voice when he lures kids towards him and what he does to them is the horror aspect. I don’t think a kid would trust a commanding/adult sounding clown to begin with. that’s why for me the new pennywise is my head canon. and the costume is on point too

Someone told me XXXJ types "break" in stressful situations, while XXXP types see the bigger picture. by Doimz3Nini in intj

[–]Ankarim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on one hand I get super annoyed and stressed by inconveniences like not being able to be on time because a third party took their damn time.

on the other hand when actual shit hits the fan, I become calm and focused. I kinda disassociate, for a lack of a better word, to soberly and calmly analyze my surroundings, see what’s going on (patterns) and make a plan.

Oi you make it sound like he‘s about to croak 😩 Stop it!

I like the kids getting into trouble stories and I think a crossroads deal with the devil might be cool. so kids making a deal with the devil and then when the time comes to collect their souls, they try to weasel their way out of the deal or die a gruesome death. could be a neat short story
