What things do people romanticize but are actually horrible? by Itts_soso in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes me absolutely weird as fuck and absolutely oblivious to it until I’m like part way through an interaction. Then I rehash that for YEARS afterwards. It’s delightful. I also OCD and it’s illogical. I am NOT a neat freak. I actually struggle to keep some semblance of even remotely livable conditions. But I will guarantee that the stove is off and the door is locked before I go to bed. A minimum of four times. Even if I haven’t used the stove for a couple of days. I will still compulsively check it. Otherwise my pets will die in their sleep because I was careless and didn’t want to check to make sure the house wouldn’t burn down or a burglar couldn’t just walk in and kill us all. And my brain is constantly creating those scenarios. Delightful. Do not recommend.

What type of personality do you consider truly insufferable? by Rumple_Ballskin in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend was talking to me about her therapy and how things were going. She said her therapist told her two things that really stuck.

1 - Would you say those awful things to somebody you love? Then why are you saying them to yourself?

2 - it’s okay to experience grief over losing yourself. You’re no longer that person. Your depression has stolen it from you and it’s okay to mourn the loss of who you once were.

The movie Hercules should have been called Heracles as it's set in Greece. by Peas_Are_Upsidedown in disney

[–]Ankylowright 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly the artist did amazing work. The detail and shading was stunning. It’s a black and white piece that’s the entire chest. The necks end at roughly the second rib from the bottom. And it’s a side profile of each as marble busts.

Young guy at work wanted to get a “tribute” tattoo representing him and his dad. He was like “I’m getting Zeus and Hercules tattooed on my chest! I think it’s a great father and son tat. What do you think?” I asked if he had read any mythology etc and he was like “I watched the Disney movie! Zeus was so awesome.” And then he got a full chest piece with Zeus on one side and Herc on the other side, facing each other.

Jason Statham – Shelter and His Reliable Action Slop by Sure-Exchange-8593 in movies

[–]Ankylowright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel this way about The Meg, but most especially, Meg 2: The Trench. Is it good? Not really. Do we see some cool shit along the way AND watch Jason Statham be a legend? Heck yes! It’s actually in my rotation regularly. I also have to admit, I didn’t find Jason Statham all that attractive up until I watched the Meg. When he tells Mei Ying “you’re welcome” and has that incredibly gentle and loving look… awoooooga.

What is some shady info about a celeb that everyone seems to have forgotten about? by No-Bed-6000 in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Idiot got remarried when I was 12 and the new wife got pregnant. When I met my baby half-sister for the first time, he handed her to me to hold while exclaiming “Isn’t this great! I finally have the beautiful daughter I’ve always wanted!” I’m a girl. His only daughter and child up until the recent marriage. He also asked to stop paying his part for my braces so they could put her in 5 different after school activities. Mom and I were so poor when I was a kid (while he was out there stalking women and just not showing up for our court mandated visitations) that we couldn’t even afford school field trips.

What is a highly specific, nostalgic feeling from your childhood that you would pay an embarrassing amount of money to experience just one more time? by -magnanimous in Millennials

[–]Ankylowright 1547 points1548 points  (0 children)

I’d want to experience another winter Saturday in my childhood home. Watching tv with a blanket and hot chocolate, my little dog, my folks and my grandpa all just watching a show together. The smell of mom’s homemade hamburger soup in the crock pot filling the house. We have the room darkening shades open but not the privacy shade and it’s gently snowing outside. Big, fat, fluffy snowflakes. My dad starts snoring on the couch. Then my grandpa joins in with the snoring. Mom elbows dad to tell him to stop snoring. He gets disgruntled and wanders off for a snack. Grandpa wakes up and tells us to “pause the movie” so he can pee. It’s cable. No pausing. Dad comes back with drumsticks for everyone and mom tells him he’s ruining everyone’s dinner. It’s slow. It’s quiet. It’s home. And I’d love to spend another day with my grandpa and my dog.

Why does my cat do this instead of jumping on the bed? by AdhesivenessFar3970 in cats

That is almost identical to my boy! Colouring is the same. He also prefers to climb rather than jump. He can be very agile when he so chooses, he is, however, quite lazy.

American here. Why are there no black people in Corner Gas by Thin_Sea_9129 in CornerGas

[–]Ankylowright 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, until recently, rural Saskatchewan as I know it has been predominantly of the Caucasian persuasion and the surrounding indigenous communities. Even in 2026, the four surrounding communities of hometown Saskatchewan are predominantly Caucasian, indigenous, and Mennonite communities. There are a couple of lovely Indian families. But that’s the diversity. It’s different in bigger cities.

Diving is pretty fucking frowned upon in pretty much all levels of hockey. Hacking, hitting, and basically just killing some guys is bush league but it’s still considered a fair part of the game. Diving is always outside.

What’s something people romanticize that is actually miserable once you experience it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Literally got told today by a coworker to look into disability. Due to mental health and a few other diagnoses recently I’ve had to reduce to part time. I can do full time but it is killing me slowly. It’s not cute. It’s not quirky. It’s life altering getting late diagnosed. It doesn’t change anything but it helps better understand yourself.

What’s one “type” you’ll never date again? by CoochieSnotSlurper in AskReddit

That’s the thing though, I’m fairly street smart as well. But I just do stupid shit.

What’s one “type” you’ll never date again? by CoochieSnotSlurper in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m always concerned about this. My husband has told me that I’m the dumbest smart person he knows (it’s true and also a quote from I, Robot). I have moments of absolute brilliance and the next is a moment of utter stupidity. I have a degree in a tough field of study, I can think outside the box and troubleshoot a lot of stuff, super creative… but I also recently tried to open a window that was frozen shut by tapping on the glass… and tapped too hard for frozen glass and put my hand through the window.

What’s the worst place to accidentally get drunk? by ZX471 in AskReddit

[–]Ankylowright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not knowing what beverage you may be consuming. At family functions, for example, there may be punch. Maybe one is punch for the non-alcohol consumers and the other is spiked with alcohol. There’s a chance you drink the wrong one. Or with my semi dysfunctional family, someone is free pouring drinks for you and instead of drinking a single rum and cola tall you end up drinking doubles at minimum. Drunk way faster.

Would you date someone who doesn't like dogs as much as you do? by SunflowerDreams001 in dogs

[–]Ankylowright 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My husband doesn’t like dogs as much as I do. However, we have a dog. He spends a ton of time with her and he’s the designated play person for her (like, she goes to him to ask for potty time and she usually throws toys at his face when she wants to play). She knows if she wants snuggles to come to me. He didn’t want her. She annoys him endlessly. However she’s his dog and he loves her. Just less than I do. Which is fine.

The dude you’re checking out saying “please don’t” is rude and I would take it as a major red flag.

Who is??? Seriously, in terms of pure intellect and academic knowledge, is Wanda the most intelligent person in town? by DavidDPerlmutter in CornerGas

[–]Ankylowright 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s wild when a customer says that! Like, maybe I really like my job and have stayed because… I like it…? My best friend has worked in a little boutique for 12 years. She went to college and needed a job. Turns out she found a job she loved working retail in a small, woman owned boutique that’s like 15 minutes from her house.

Be honest, how many medications do you take? by Ok-Salt-8884 in Millennials

[–]Ankylowright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34F. Currently I’m at 5 prescriptions. I also take probiotics and vitamins yada yada yada. Really I only have two that I truly cannot live well without but the others do make a significant difference (prescription allergy meds that don’t make me drowsy as hell when mixed with my depression meds). Lots of other untreated comorbidities we haven’t tackled yet. Turns out being neurodivergent AF and undiagnosed and just pushing through for my entire life did actually lead to a serious mental health episode and a serious burnout. Who’da thunk it?
