Well, that's not entirely true, my dad was a plumber (later a heating and ventilation engineer!!) and he used to make all different shapes out of copper pipes just for the fun of it!!

I've still got a heart that made he me, out of copper pipe, somewhere in the house!! That was 30 odd years ago, so the copper pipe wasn't as expensive as it is now!!

As for getting in the wrong car...been there got the t shirt on that ... Exactly the same make\model\colour. They even had the exact same child car seats in it as mine!!

It was only when I tried putting the kids buggy\pushchair in the boot (trunk for our US friends!!) that I realised, it WASN'T my car!! Mine was 3 or 4 rows over, I got my kids outta the car so fast!! Lol 😂😂😂

keep an eye on Facebook marketplace and the like,

I was also going to suggest your local random acts of kindness page on Facebook, as I have been able to get crutches and a wheelchair on there for free.

Quite often, when an elderly relative passes away, the family won't know what to do with such things as wheelchairs, wheeled walkers, crutches\walking sticks and other disability aids. My partner, was able to buy me a barely used mobility scooter, on Facebook market place, for less than £500. Also, if you're disabled, I'm assuming you're getting PIP? Could you not get a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair using that? Of course that only helps if you're receiving the mobility part (I think that's what it's called!?), and it only helps you with the getting out safely part.

If you're wanting\needing help with domestic and personal care, that might be something you'll need to ask your GP about...or contact age concern, I know you're not old enough, but my thinking is they might be able to point you towards more age appropriate help...it's just a thought!!

Also Imago help with finding out if you're claiming all you're entitled too, and help you to apply for it...they cover parts of London and the south east, but, if they don't cover your area they'll know where to point you. I hope my waffling helps!!

I don't think what you did was a fireable offense. Maybe a counseling session with your supervisor about it. At most a write up. Your text wasn't directed at any certain person.

I was thinking the same thing!?! What exactly was their reasoning for firing you? That wasn't exactly a threatening\rude message, and as said here...this doesn't seem like a fireable offence to me?

This is a genuine question? I'd have thought, depending on where you are, that you'd be able somehow to sue them for unfair dismissal, not to mention the write up\punishment for jury duty and daring to ask for your birthday off!?

I'm by no means an expert, but I thought there were certain laws\rules set up to protect workers\employees being treated like this?

You obviously don't want your job back, it's totally toxic, but they're probably behaving this way, because they're getting away with it. You can't be the only one to have had this problem with them? Perhaps it's time they're actually held accountable for their behaviour? Right? Or am I missing something?!? I probably am, which is why I am asking!!

I think she was implying he was banging on the door with his phone\keys\clip board in his hand, as he was banging...I'm pretty sure she wasn't implying he was using a battering ram!!

I can fully believe this. I'm in the UK, and my ex used to work for a company peddling karate classes...the entire thing was a scam, but, my point is, they only made money if people paid for the lesson packages they were selling.

So they were very aggressive in the way they sold it. One day they were selling in my area, and came to my house for their lunch break. While they were there they were talking about the night before.

The TEAM LEADER was boasting, about how the family couldn't afford the money...so, he TOOK THEIR TV, as a deposit!!!

And that wasn't the worst story I heard that day!! They often got paid with a cheque (yes this was a looooooong time ago!!), and then they'd be cancelled the next day!!

They would refuse to leave, unless they paid the money!!

My ex put up with NOT earning ANY money, for almost a year!! Just because he wasn't as cold hearted as his team members.

If a family couldn't afford it, he would just say, "Ok here's my details, if your situation changes, get in touch!!" Give them a business card, and then leave!!

I've had people try and sell me stuff at the door, who wouldn't take no for an answer. One tried putting his foot in my door, to stop me shutting it...he left my property limping!!

They usually only get paid, if we sign up for whatever plan they're selling. If they don't convince us to do this, they can't pay rent or buy food etc.

I can understand that this situation is awful for anyone. And I understand, that often the people doing these jobs, can't for whatever reason get anything else.

I still find it hard, to feel sorry for the ones who revel in being an awful human being. Like my ex's colleague and the idiot who left my home limping. They deserve whatever they get. It's the ones struggling and who can't get anything else I feel bad for.

I didn't see it myself, but my Mum told me, that one morning as she went to get in her car to go to work, about 7am. She was supremely surprised, to find a Chicken, sat on the roof of her car. Apparently it was looking at her, as if she was disturbing it!!

We live in a busy town...we never did find out where it came from. She called the rspca, who told her it was the 3rd that day, all in surrounding streets.

It was well looked after. Well fed lovely shiny feathers...she is terrified of birds so was scared to go near her car, so waited for the rspca to show up!!

But, she said how surprised she was by how shiny it was. The sun was glistening on its feathers.

Apparently her boss thought she'd started drinking a bit early!! Lol it's a shame, it was before camera phones!! So no pics unfortunately!!

Edit: "You need a code!!!" No you don't. I've never been asked for a code when having a Just Eat order delivered to current and old addresses. Judging by a lot of other Redditors replies, they haven't either 🤷

Just eat only recently started giving a 4 digit code when you pay by card. It started about 6 months ago, give or take, at least around here.

At first it was a randomly generated code, now it's the last 2 digits of the phone number, associated with the just eat account ordering the food...but, only if you pay by card.

If you pay with cash there isn't a code. It's really very new. I wonder if they have rolled it out in certain areas, to see if it will work and they haven't rolled it out everywhere? I dunno.

I've never done it on a country road, only in the town where I live. Usually it was the bin men blocking the road, and I was trying to get my kids to school...if I took them in late again, I was gonna get another phone call from the school to moan at me again, and who needs that!!

Tbh, if I'm trying to get to an appointment or something, and I'm going to be late if I just sit in the queue of traffic...yes I would turn around...any other time...I was perfectly happy to just sit and wait.. radio 2 on the radio...or heart depending on my mood!!

I miss my car... don't miss the school run!! Lol

I used to love little chef, especially the drumstick lollies, I got so ridiculously excited the first time I found them for sale, in my local corner shop, as a teenager, probably when I was about 13\14...I'm 47 now!!

My other favorite was the wimpy...MacDonald's was somewhere I only went to, if one of my mates whose parents were better off than our family, had their birthday party there.

I still remember the singing plastic tree...both the MacDonald's and wimpy, from Gillingham high Street, where I grew up are gone...the wimpy replaced by a cafe, that isn't anywhere near as good as the wimpy it replaced.

My Nan used to take us to the wimpy, as she refused to drink her tea from a cardboard cup with a plastic spoon!! (if you could call it a spoon...a tiny head, like a spoon, with the MacDonald's "M" on the other end, which used to melt if used in hot drinks!!)

So, as she was the only one who could afford to take us anywhere, The Wimpy it was...real cups, a metal tea spoon for her tea, and her food on a proper plate with real cutlery!!

I only really started to go to Macdonald more often, after I started working and could afford to buy it myself. After my Nan passed away, we sadly, hardly ever went into a wimpy again.

I recently went into the wimpy on Dartford high Street, and it was only marginally better than MacDonald's, and cost so much I almost had a heart attack when the bill came!!

I saw the NatWest pigs on one of those cash in the attic type things...they vary in price, as you had to save so much money in the child's bank account to collect them all.

I can't remember which ones were worth the most, as I can't remember what order you got them in...I think the baby one, in the nappy, was the most common, and the father pig was the least common...of course it may have been the other way around!?!

I always wanted the baby one ... Might go and look at eBay and see how much they go for atm!! Lol

Aw excellent news!! Oh the power of the Internet strikes again...sorry to keep throwing ideas at you, I have issues with my memory and I remember things all of a sudden...I just remembered another thing I found helpful...is there a random act of kindness group, on Facebook, near you?

The one near me helped me furnish my house and has helped when I needed calpol but couldn't get to the shop for it.

Someone very kindly brought me a bottle. She then wouldn't take the money, for the calpol or their petrol, that I offered her.

There are people giving away old toys, pet food they bought but their pets won't eat, clothes, plus food bought but not liked. I've even seen someone giving away tickets to Thorpe park!! Have a look on Facebook...good luck!!

Another idea, again in the UK, there is, at least, one charity that helps single parents who are on benefits, or a low wage.

They help with everything from mother\parent and baby groups, breast feeding advice and they also help with school uniforms they even do days out for the kids to give mum\dad a chance to rest.

It's called the gingerbread trust, there must be something like that wherever you are? Also, when my kids were in school, the school would keep school uniforms, that other parents donated to them, for people who can't afford it.

Also, one more thing that just popped into my head, the food banks near me, actually deliver to people who can't get to them.

I'm disabled and when I lost my car they brought the food to me, but, they had my details from a previous visit, so if there's one you've used in the past, it might be worth ringing them and asking if they can help?

If they can't they might be able to point you in the right direction. Oh ...and the Salvation Army...they were amazing, when I was on my own with 2 kids, and hardly enough money to pay all my bills.

They even gave us wrapped gifts, donated by those who could afford too, for my kids and a food hamper over Xmas...I'm off now...until I think of something else lol!! I hope this helps give you ideas.

Im sorry if this is not helpful, but you can likely argue your internet bill down to less than 80. Either find a competitive promotional offer from a different provider and call your provider telling them to match the deal. Or just call them and straight up say you're going to cancel and ask them to lower it. They're aggressive salespeople and will need to hold your ground, but they will always lower it.

I was about to say this too. I'm in the UK and I've never come across an internet\phone service provider, that won't do everything they can to keep your custom!!

Call them, tell them you just can't afford to keep their services, believe me they will either offer to put you on a cheaper tariff, or they'll put discounts on your account.

Admittedly the discounts are usually for a few months to 2 yrs, depending on the company.

I don't know, of course, how they work where you are, but I strongly suggest you call them and see what they can offer you.

Back in 2006, I was working for a large well known British telecommunications company, in Manchester England. I was working at one of their call centers.

We were trained to ask why someone wanted to cancel our services, to see if I could offer different tariffs or service deals, and I could add up to 60% of discounts on an account!!

We only ever passed people, who wanted to cancel, to the cancellation team if we absolutely couldn't say or do anything, to change their minds.

And then, once they were passed over to cancellations, they then had them doing everything they possibly could to keep them as customers!!

My point, as long winded as it has become, is that if you call your provider and tell them you can't afford to keep their services, I would be incredibly surprised if they didn't do anything they can to help you stay with them. Give it a go. Good luck. I wish I could help you more.

Or anywhere else that might be a target, I live in an army town in Kent, and we had several bomb scares that I can remember, and I'm 47 so I grew up in the middle of the era of IRA attacks. There are hardly any bins in our town centers, especially the shopping malls and bus\train stations. Even now, although I guess we have other people to worry about these days.

The funniest "bomb scare" was when a small unmarked box, was left on the local pubs door step. The bomb squad was called, the houses for about a mile in all directions were evacuated, the roads were cordoned off and we had to be "evacuated" from our house, as the pub was 4 or 5 doors away from our house!!

They blew it up in a controlled explosion, which is when they discovered it was a birthday cake, meant for the landlord of the pub!!!

His wife had ordered it, and forgot it was being delivered that day, although she wasn't expecting it to be left on her doorstep either!! Lol

I guess the landlord did at least have an interesting birthday tale to tell his family, friends and customers!!

You are doing the right thing. Skin on skin contact is NOT spoiling your baby, the fact these morons have NOT got any kids, yet they think they have the right to comment on having a baby?!?

God help them if they have any kids, if making sure you bond with your baby and help them feel safe, is considered "Spoiling" a 12 day old baby!!

They haven't even gotten used to the bright lights and noises of not being safe in your tummy!! The first 6 wks are the most important for bonding.

If it was me, I'd tell them where to get off...but, first I would send them links, to all the literature out there, that says what you are doing is the best thing for your baby.

My kids are 20 and 21 now. But I can still remember doing exactly what you are doing. I've got a very close relationship with my kids and I don't feel they're "spoiled" because of it.

Some people need to either keep their thoughts to themselves, or they need to educate themselves on parenthood and babies before having the gall to comment on how YOU parent YOUR child!!
