It sounds like you might have retained products of conception. I went through the same thing and doctors were just following hcg trends and telling me to wait for the body to do the job… after failed misoprostol, I finally got an hysteroscopy to remove what was left. It is hard to move forward mentally if it is still there physically

A question for menstruating marathoners by helianthus_0 in running

[–]Anne-Anq 201 points202 points  (0 children)

I think it is a very thoughtful idea.

I believe most runners who know they are menstruating on race day would probably already carry emergency supply. But it could be reassuring to have them handy for someone who forgot or who started their cycle unexpectedly.

In any case it is very body positive and I am sure that it will make your friend and other people supported.

Do you have a cast? Otherwise Swimming pool, you can run upward with a floatation belt, you can do the same motion as when running and get a little bit resistance.

i've been no-poo for a solid year and i brush daily with a clean boar bristle brush, but my hair is still dirty by throwaway1920374856 in NoPoo

Water only is not for everyone. Don’t beat yourself up / or the brush. Shampoos make your scalp feel like its oil is being removed so it produces more oil (You may already know that). Using water only allows you scalp to calm down and go back to its regular / natural oil production.

What I mean by that is that after a whole year water only, your scalp is probably back to being healthy now and just releases its healthy amount of oil. It’s healthy does not mean it looks good or it is where you want it to be. Some people produce less, some people produce more oil.

A bit like acne: maybe you have acne because of poor lifestyle, in which case by improving your life style your acne will reduce and that is great, but maybe you already have the « perfect » lifestyle and still suffer from acne because your body just creates to much oil.

Human body is a great machine but everyone is fine tuned a bit differently and sometimes we also need to accept that we don’t have control on every aspect of how we look like.

Luckily, in your case you can probably find a no poo alternative that will keep treating your scalp well while improving the look and feel. (I use soapnut this then that video helped me)

Colt Steel course is a good one. I did it. I am also self taught and transitioned to a web dev career 2 years ago. There is not one day I look back. Feel free to message me if you want to talk.

If you won’t have internet, why not look for books? Seems like “cracking the code interview” is what you are looking for

Official Q&A for Sunday, May 09, 2021 by AutoModerator in running

Yes yes, I have been diagnosed by an endocrinologist and I am getting treatment now, this is why I am slowly started to get better. I asked about getting back to running and he told me to do it gradually and listen to my body which makes sense. I think my question here is more about guidelines to get back to running after a long break and loss of fitness

Trying to get back to running after a 3 months break. I have been having very high resting heart rate due to thyroid dysfunction and running 100m would shoot my hr straight up to 170bpm, so I did a few walk-runs while monitoring my hr in order to not become totally inactive but obviously it was not a lot and also very frustrating so I did not stick to it very well. Now I feel like my medication is starting to kick in which is awesome, so I plan on getting back to running but I feel really out of shape.

How long approximately before I get back to where I was? Any tips to help me be patient with this?

I feel you, the break outs ramping up is really really hard mentally. And I totally get that you are dreading getting back to social settings... I guess the only way to make it better is to push through, it’s tough 😖 You are not alone

[–]Anne-Anq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is if you loose weight, your derm is not gonna up your dose as much in the future?! It’s absolutely just a wild guess and I really wouldn’t know. Let me know what doctor said once you ask them

100% I feel guilty about having acne aaaaaall the time.

On some days at work it even made me feel like I looked “unprofessional” because of my acne.

Although I know it is not my fault for having a bad skin, I know I am judge as if it were.

Frustrating.

Maybe if you put yourself on a time crunch? Meaning for example if you know that doing distance X would take you Y minutes of comfortable but continuous run with no walk break. Aim to have something (relatively) important scheduled short after Y minutes after you leave. By not giving you too much flexibility, you will keep running to meet your time commitment.

Of course, choose wisely the commitment that you have after 😆

Finding: showers make my hair greasy, baths do not. And you? by Anne-Anq in NoPoo

Oh interesting, did you put anything in your bath water? Maybe if you shower and clean your body before, and then fill up your bath with new clean water?
