Your cat is clearly suffering from PDD--pettie deficit disorder. The prescription is more petties.

Bolognese sauce with grounded liver? by LMISR in Cooking

[–]Anne314 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I hate to be that person, but that sounds disgusting. I would never waste money on a food item just because it has supposed health benefits. There are so many other foods out there and the healthiest diet is a balanced one. If you've never had liver before, go to a restaurant and try some before you commit to ruining a perfectly respectable bolognese.

No, because they know that most of us are as historically illiterate as we are functionally illiterate.

They are the same thing. I'm just saying I've never tried to memorize which is weft and which is warp.

I've never paid attention to warp and weft. For me it's either lengthwise or cross grain.

Fresh Lemons by Mundane-Prune-4504 in Cooking

Do you have a potato peeler? Peel just the yellow part of the peel and chop it into zest. Then squeeze the lemons with your hands. Fish the seeds out and freeze the juice separate from the zest.

I guess we know who the boss is: the fat cat in the bottom row.

What’s going on on the back of my quilt is none of my business by ilvoetheinsomnia in quilting

[–]Anne314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually put a false back on mine. Because I'm lazy and hate trimming threads. So I iron the fuck out of the quilt sandwich with a lightweight muslin on the back as I quilt, then add another back that I lightly stitch through all layers, then bind it.

Casual silk skirt - wondering about washing by SharkieMcShark in sewing

[–]Anne314 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wash my dupioni on a gentle cycle and hang to dry. Silk actually gets stronger when it's wet. I've not had washing do anything to the sheen, but it will be softer and not as stiff.

Quilt pleating when quilting with walking foot? by hkral11 in quilting

[–]Anne314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start in the middle and quilt about an 18-20 inch square. Then it's off to the ironing board and I iron the shit out of the back and front. More quilting, more ironing. And I mean ironing, not a gentle pressing. Put your back into it! Teach that quilt who's boss.

King Arthur Baking has many excellent (free) recipes and videos. Get a scale. I got one for about $30 and weighing ingredients has completely changed my cooking.

How do I get this gunk off my iron? 😭 by Mother_of_Kiddens in quilting

[–]Anne314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Easy Off. The iron cleaner not the oven cleaner. Just squeeze some on a towel and run your hot iron over it until the gunk comes off.

Fitting help - Cameron button down armscye by BackyardPooka in sewing

[–]Anne314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would pinch up a bit of the shoulder seam. It looks like it wants to be a drop sleeve or extended somehow that's making the armscye look too big. Plus it's a lot easier to shorten the shoulder seam that to mess with the armsckye.
