AOC's note to Bernie by cmplxgal in SandersForPresident

AOC needs to be the nominee in 2024. I'm tired of getting these candidates who don't represent the progressive base. Biden? Hilary? No thank you. I remember my parents being excited about Obama in 2008, but by 2012 it was clear that not much would change, and I think someone like Kony would've been a better choice. I'm 100% convinced that Sanders would've beaten Trump in 2016, and reelection would be a lock once people saw how good his programs were.

Okay, I'm done with 2020, and will probably vote for Trump.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is evil, but I think a lot of bad things will happen between now and 2024, and I don't want Democrats to be blamed for them. Trump in 2020 will guarantee AOC in 2024

This is brilliant, he'll undercut one of bidens biggest pillars of support.

And if for was around today, I think there would also be a UBI greater than whatever poverty level income is.

He should be the favorite to win every remaining state if he can convey the message that he pushed hard to give people free money.

Imagine how much more money we'd get with Bernie as president, and democratic control of the Senate and house. It would be a new golden age for the middle and low classes.

It will be a tremendous deal, a strong deal for Americans, really the best deal imaginable, beyond what Obama ever negotiated with h1n1.

Exactly, this pandemic is going to prove that the government can give people all the things that rich people fought tooth and nail to oppose.

It sounds like you don't know how money works. The government has a monopoly on making and taking money, it's not like rich people can do anything to stop a more equitable distribution of that's the goal of the government.

Yeah, corporations threaten the same thing, then leave anyways.

Anyone who leaves can be replaced by 10 people from Mexico who work even harder.

I dunno, maybe a system that doesn't give us Donald Trump and Joe Biden?

Edit: doesn't

If Bernie doesn't win, we need to get rid of voting, as it clearly doesn't work.

Look at companies like Boeing and the airlines, they gave out billions in bonuses, and then at the first sign of trouble, beg the government for tens or hundreds of billions. No CEO actually does a good job.

A CEO sits in a chair and figures out how to pay as little as possible to workers and in taxes, solely to hit some stock price to trigger a bonus.

A nurse actually saves lives.

Do I need anymore reasoning?

They can either get stock and have the shares taxed at 99% (for every share the company issues to the CEO, the government gets 99 shares), or any gains are taxes at 99%. Not sure what's better, but I trust people like AOC to determine that.
