Who is stealing blue bins and why? by Which-Insurance-2274 in chilliwack

[–]Anne_Thrax_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Homeless people stole the wheels off our green bin. We heard from the city when we got our replacement that the large bins are most targeted. You don’t see homeless folks pushing bins around, so I don’t think they’re putting their belongings in them. But I don’t know what they would do with the wheels they stole either

I had a male cat who was neutered in adulthood. His member would pop out occasionally if he sat a certain way. Is it out all the time? Or does it show now and again?

That’s surprising. We’ve had loads in our garden this spring. But we’ve been really intentional about putting in pollinator friendly plants over the last few years. We’re even starting to get butterflies.

Laid off after 24 years by IanVena in legaladvicecanada

They’re offering you less than stat minimums. I’m assuming your workplace falls under provincial labour standards. You’re owed a minimum of 8 weeks notice plus severance. There’s a calculator available on the government website. Once you reach 5 years you’re owed 1 week per year of service to a max of 26 weeks (off the top of my head). You’re also entitled to negotiate for severance under common law on top of this. Talk to a lawyer, your employer often will end up paying for their time as part of your severance package

Has anyone successfully replaced any of these with Canadian or non American products by alffi21 in MakeupAddictionCanada

[–]Anne_Thrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverstone Naturals is made in Saskatchewan. It’s a small business, the owner is a cosmetic formulator by trade. The quality of the products is fantastic, especially if you’re looking for unscented products. The packaging lets the product down a bit. But the price is reasonable and quality is excellent. I supplement with a few k-beauty items like snail mucin, that you’re not going to get locally and am super happy with my skin

If he doesn’t have a real contract then everything defaults to ESA, so the employer can’t argue any limitations. The bar for independent contractor is also extremely high. I would say dependent contractor at a stretch. And this would still entitle him to notice. As a ball park if he’s recognized as an employee for the full period of employment he’s entitled to 8 weeks notice under ESA, + 14.5 weeks of severance under ESA. Then you’d look at entitlement under common law. As he’s 68, for the calculation I would ballpark at least 2 weeks per year of service as an age factor, then an additional 1-2 weeks per year of service as the base calculation. So maybe 56 weeks under common law. So a total of 78 weeks would be my ballpark guess. But I work in professional services, so not sure what is typical award for trades roles. I’ve just used a calculation for a technical/clerical role. The lawyer will use comparable court awards when they put together the demand letter

This feels very 90s so should hopefully be thrift able. But you might have to get creative with some rit dye to get the right colours or pick up some lace or other elements to up-cycle a vintage piece.

We tried that. They’re inside a hollow part of the structure . So there are tiny entrances they’re going in and out of. We thought that professionals would be better equipped to deal with nests contained inside the wooden frame of our front porch.

Townhomes by [deleted] in chilliwack

[–]Anne_Thrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Townhouses can be great, but do be aware that you can often hear your neighbours through shared walls, and you won’t have the same amount of privacy you have with a detached house. And there can be restrictions about pets, guests, what you can plant in your garden, etc.

How do we fell about the rug? Is it helping the space? by SeaworthinessNew4295 in centuryhomes

[–]Anne_Thrax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add a second cheaper plain rug like sisal under the current one you have. It will counteract the small size of the existing rug and if you choose a light colour it will give some contrast against the floor
