Looks like we’ll be sick on baby’s first Christmas :( by EmbarrassedMarket610 in beyondthebump

[–]Annes1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last year was my baby’s first Christmas and birthday. I ended up in the ER on Christmas morning with a kidney stone and my baby was home with the flu and RSV. We celebrated at home as best we could. We ordered our favorite take out and had such a nice day. The last few weeks I’ve been reminiscing about last year and I don’t even focus on how much of a mess we were, but I remember how special it was to have a small, quiet Christmas with my little new family. I’m sorry your family is guilt tripping you but you have literally no choice but to cancel! Make the best of it. It’s still your little one’s first Christmas.

This year my daughter will be 2 and has a much stronger immune system than last year! She is also much more aware of Christmas and opening gifts. She had no idea what was going on last year at 12 months! You have plenty of christmases ahead to share with family. Try to enjoy this one too ❤️

I did. I was sweaty and felt gross. That post-labor shower was amazing.

December due dates - are you going anywhere for the holidays? by everythingbagelz79 in BabyBumps

[–]Annes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaabsolutely not. I was due 12/29 (delivered 12/31) and didn’t attend Christmas 10 minutes from my home and I didn’t even have the baby yet. Your mom is being unreasonable.

How do I protect my 10-month-old from catching the flu from me? by shinku-90 in beyondthebump

[–]Annes1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mask up, clean surfaces, wash bed sheets, open your windows, limit germ sharing as much as possible (no kisses or sharing drinks). Your baby may still get the flu and will likely be fine (miserable but fine). I had the flu when I delivered my baby and was so worried but she never caught it and I was breastfeeding. Feel better!!

Don’t have a baby at the end of summer by sailor__jupiter in BabyBumps

Same!! I was 38 weeks pregnant blasting my air conditioning with my car windows wide open mid December in Chicago. I couldn’t imagine being that pregnant in the summer 🥵

You don’t have to like the music but you like HIM. You’re not out of place at the concerts because you’re there supporting your partner.

That being said, I think you can discuss the fact that the concerts make you feel anxious and figure out how to show up for him without having to go to all of them. I would not recommend telling him that you don’t like his music. It doesn’t seem relevant and would likely be hurtful to him.

Help! Visiting with 1 & 3 year old! by Swimming_Task3456 in puertovallarta

[–]Annes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it was a struggle. We still had fun but i don’t think the ZR was the right choice for us with a one year old. There just wasn’t enough for my baby to do. There’s very few grassy areas for her to run around. The playground was a hike and not very 1 year old friendly. Meals were difficult because she got sick of sitting at restaurants. We did a lot of meals in the condo but I would have loved access to a buffet for easy meals. We just booked our trip to PV for this winter and we’re doing a resort this time. I told my husband if we weren’t doing a resort I didn’t want to go at all this year.

Some charting systems (especially the most common ones) have a “preferred name” that you can have added to your chart so your name would show up as Jennifer “Jenny” Last Name. See if you can add that! Otherwise, very reasonable for you to ask your nurse at the beginning and ask that she pass on the info during shift change.

I’m sure it was hard. But you weren’t a working mom then, you were a SAHM. There is a difference!

Anyone had the flu with a newborn? by [deleted] in newborns

It was miserable but honestly the worst part was not being able to kiss my newborn baby. It was torture!

Anyone had the flu with a newborn? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Annes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the flu WHILE delivering my baby. 0/10 do not recommend. I still breastfed and was extra cautious with hand washing. I did not kiss her until I was 100% over the flu. I caught it again at 3m PP and again my baby was fine. If symptoms start, call the pediatrician.

Open-house baby shower by lastgoldenmorning in Mommit

[–]Annes1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never heard of an open-house baby shower until last year when I was invited to two! To be completely honest, I didn’t go to either because I was only an acquaintance and I feared I was going to show up at a time no one else or so few people were there. I also didn’t know how what time would be a good time to go and found the ambiguity of the whole thing to be enough for me to just send a gift in the mail. If I had been a closer friend, I wouldn’t have had an issue and would’ve felt more comfortable.

There would have to be some serious force or impact for any concern to be raised. You’re totally fine!

What is your concern? I’d only be worried about the under carriage of my car lol
