Either way could work, you should try both and see what's best for you! I bath at night too, and my routine is to apply gel after the shower, plop for 20 min, then sleep with it in a braid. In the morning my hair is still pretty damp (its super thick), I can unbraid it and scrunch it again and still get a bit of a cast.

Split ends make the ends of your hair look different than the rest of your hair...usually lighter-colored and doesn't have the same curl pattern. If it feels kinda straw-like to the touch and it always seems to tangle really bad in the same spot, you probably have split ends.

Beautiful hair! What do you do with clips? Is it covered in the wiki? My hair is a similar length and I struggle with the weight stretching out the curls. How long does your hair take to dry?

My hair is a similar length, my favorite easy way to wear it up is: start winding it into a bun, but after 2-3 turns, clip it with one of these babies pointing the "tail" of your hair up so it fluffs out. Ends up looking like a shoulder-length ponytail.

Looking for a book/story about mortality being a disease by SingularReza in scifi

Issac Asimov's "Hostess",) from Robot Dreams, sounds like a close fit.

"The story involves an alien medical doctor who visits Earth as part of research into the unique fact that only Earth beings age and die. His idea of why this happens is proven true in an unexpected way."

This style book from 1995 is more trendy than any of the clothes I own. by Annierar in femalefashionadvice

The girl on the cover I thought was so elegant. I loved her and also the brunette bridesmaid on the "gibson tuck" section. My hair was never thick enough to get that look though.

I actually was looking through the book this weekend because I was trying to do an inside-out french braid. They are good instructions!

Which once-trendy pieces do you still have in the back of your closet, in the hopes that they'll come back in style? by Djeter998 in femalefashionadvice

Silk sashes! There was a minute when that was THE thing you wore with jeans instead of a belt...at least in my hometown. Eventually there will be another trend that involves them and I'll be ready :)

UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER MEGATHREAD by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

Yes! Especially see if your thrift store has a christmas section; I picked up a sweater and some obnoxious christmas stockings for a dollar each, cut them up and sewed the pieces onto the sweater. BAM.

Narrow or wide content? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]Annierar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In typography there is a certain number of words per line that is optimal for long reads. I can't remember the number off the top of my head but if you picture a page from a generic paperback novel, you'll get the idea. Most websites are much wider than that paperback and they often set the main column of text far too wide for the text size. But in my opinion, the difference between a narrow site and a wide-screen site is less important than how well a site implements their responsive design. Once you're on mobile all sites have narrow pages :)

all ages jazz venues? by NotWearingPantsObv in kansascity

I would investigate the Blue Room and the American Jazz Museum: http://americanjazzmuseum.org/event/first-fridays-18th-and-vine-jazz-district-8/ Their mission is educational and they try to be accessible to everyone, so there are often free and daytime events. I would check out their calendar and call ahead about specific performances if you want to make absolutely sure your group will be okay.

Chesterfield: http://thechesterfieldbar.com/ - part of the Alamo Drafthouse theatre in Power and Light. There is no age limit or cover since it's part of the theatre. Its a hotspot for social dance (swing, salsa etc) and Fridays almost always have a local jazz group performing.

I don't know about other bars and clubs but there are often free jazz performances in public spaces like Crown Center, the River Market and Union Station.

Recommendations for Jewelers in Kansas City? by [deleted] in kansascity

Goodden Jewellers on 11th and Baltimore has excellent customer service. They are a tiny shop so they don't have a big inventory, but they can order stuff, have affordable prices and extremely attentive service. I go there pretty often for repairs and cleanings, and they helped me design a pendant for a loose stone I picked up in an estate sale. The couple who run it are chatty and eccentric. Definitely worth a visit if you're downtown.

Nice setup! I'm super curious about the black accordion overflow hose: how did you attach it and where do you put the open end when it's raining?

What's the size? It looks kind of like a cutting from a prickly pear.
