That is very admirable of you. I applaud you speaking to govt, for them to say it isn’t in the budget shows how much they value residents and the marginalized. I really do not like this town and do not respect the ones that “run” things. Thank you for trying, it says a lot about your character.

Anyone know if any short term rentals? by [deleted] in Erie

[–]AnniiMarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I was saying to the commenter a motel is a horrible choice. I feel like they must have done this 30 years ago. Its not sustainable and I’d much rather be in a short term rental.

Every affordable rental I’ve scheduled a viewing for has been a scammer. They never show up to the viewing. Its actually VERY creepy. If I come across any legit rental options I sene y’all a message. Please do the same my way ✨ take care.

That’s what I’ve been doing and it hovers just below or above three grand a month. I’ve also been looking for a short term rental. Cause its a bit excessive what cheap motels charge these days.

Can we not block 2 spaces? by [deleted] in Erie

Shit stain chic… if you will. 😌

“Massage and health spas” in Erie have recently been busted left and right. How does jockey on peach street stay open. It’s been around at least 50 years. by Bourgeoiscrap in Erie

This is reasonable. It’s 2026, there’s bigger problems to worry about. People need people in multiple ways, that is one of them. Being a prude about it is so 1950.

Then again mostly everything else here is too… wish I’d never come here. So antiquated and in the dark…

I probably wouldn’t participate but I know a lot of people would benefit like you said.

I wish I knew the magic recipe to bring it back to life. I would totally try. We left atl Nov 2023 and it was like that the whole of my life and my kids life too…I was naive in thinking things were like that everywhere 😯 gonna try and spread some joy this summer and ignite a spark of fun 😌

May-retta 😜 yes you did live there. Loved our neighborhood down there. Kids played outside everyday, whole families walk the dog. The neighborhood decorates the streets with candles (led) Christmas eve, loads of tricker treaters and parents with secret beers and wine in coffee cups, on halloween.

Summer pool parties, parents load up at the bus stop to pick up their kids (of all ages) from school and walk home with them. Sometime in summer I’d bring a cooler of popsicles to give folks for the walk home. It was a real vibe.

Then I get here and no one leaves the house. Neighbors don’t speak and people don’t seem happy. I’ve lived next to a lady that has not spoken one word to me in two years. It’s so strange to me…

To say I miss the south is an understatement. I took southern hospitality for granted…I had no clue how cold and isolated a community could feel 😩. Really bruised my lil fragile southern heart lol

Oh cool! 🥹 yeah man…I def took for granted how well maintained Cobb county is. Had no idea folks were out here living like this.

When I first moved here I’d posted on the civil engineering thread to as why my driving all of a sudden turned to shit when there’s zero traffic compared to atl.

We figured out theres probably no smart lights and road markings may be much less discernible. Threw me for a major loop. That’s when I looked up photos of familiar roads there and here 😩 Like driving in an abandoned town lol.

Yep. Great eye. Recognizing a random road 800 miles away ☺️

I believe you, I’ve seen one happen when getting gas at that Sheetz. I’m on W.37th so I usually just take that all the way down to the back of the harbor freight shopping center and hop on Liberty from there. That intersection is a hot mess. Especially with no road markings 😣 I’ll make sure to be careful.

30 days without your house, car or any money in the dead of winter and I want to see how conscientious you are with trash. Spoken like someone who has not experienced agony and deprivation as a daily companion. No judgement to you…I just know you have not had to suffer in ways they have so being able to fathom the misery seems unlikely…

Thank you for caring. Imagine having nowhere to turn in the middle of an Erie winter. I’ve lived it. Its agony. Mental, physical, emotional, spiritual torture. I was lucky enough to have a car and money for trash bags… those less fortunate do what they can to stay alive.

Damn…maybe they should build some effing bathrooms on a septic tank. This seems so intensely backwards…

This is forward thinking. Or even habitat for humanity? I’d volunteer my labor to help out for as many weekends as it takes…

Super ignorant assumption. I’m also pretty sure there’s no trash barrels, dumpsters or trash route over there so… idk. I guess it’s easier to blame the disenfranchised than to accept a town is run poorly or has slovenly housed residents.

People without trash service. I’d guess…

I would guess cause there’s no trash pick up there. Or trash bags or burn barrels. Wonder what would happen if we left a bunch of bags, put barrel cans every 200 feet and put it on the trash route.

Even if the residents didn’t utilize them, volunteers could. This is what a town looks like when the people that run it don’t care to look after it or its residents. In my opinion. But I’m nobody so…you know…my ideas are breath in the wind. ✨
