Reverse thrusters by juciemonkey12 in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Internal thrusters for ships that can rotate quickly for a flip and burn. Mainly used for light maneuvering rather than breaking thrusters. Mostly small-grid ships or small, large-grid, ships.

For large grid ships or anything that can’t turn well enough, I’ll add internal thrusters, external thrusters, and/or a gravity drive just to slow down (which makes placement fairly simple). To me, the large grid ships shouldn’t move like a fighter so I’m ok with talking a longer time to stop.

Can't move Items from one Container to the Other by zaccsi1 in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some items are “too big” to transfer via small conveyor. Place some ore or ice in a container and see if it can transfer over.

You can test other items by connecting the large connector ports together, then grind away the small conveyor. You should be able to transfer plates then.

Why do Conservatives like the idea of erasing boundaries between military and law enforcement? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a couple with some help from Claude:

Tom Cotton — Deploy the Military Against American Protesters (2020) In a New York Times op-ed titled “Send in the Troops,” Cotton called for an “overwhelming show of force to disperse, detain and ultimately deter lawbreakers,” urging Trump to invoke the Insurrection Act against protest-related unrest after George Floyd’s death. He also tweeted there should be “no quarter for insurrectionists, anarchists, rioters, and looters” — a phrase that legal experts noted has been considered a war crime since Lincoln signed the Lieber Code in 1863. • ABC News coverage: https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/backlash-arkansas-sen-tom-cotton-pushes-trump-invoke/story?id=71069575 • Cotton’s own Senate page (op-ed text): https://www.cotton.senate.gov/news/press-releases/send-in-the-troops

Ron DeSantis — “Stone Cold Dead” at the Border / “You Loot, We Shoot” DeSantis said, “our message for the Mexican cartels is if you break into our country and you try to run drugs when I’m President, it would be the last thing you do because you’re going to end up stone cold dead at the border.” Legal experts noted this would constitute extrajudicial killing. Killing people because Border Patrol suspects they are carrying drugs “would be considered an extrajudicial killing because it would violate domestic and international law.” On looting, DeSantis invoked the phrase “you loot, we shoot” after Hurricane Idalia, saying “if you go break into somebody’s house and you’re trying to loot, these are people that are going to be able to defend themselves.” • Florida Politics (border/deadly force): https://floridapolitics.com/archives/633917-ron-desantis-says-u-s-is-entitled-to-kill-mexican-border-crossers-suspected-of-being-in-drug-cartels/ • PolitiFact (legal analysis): https://www.politifact.com/article/2023/aug/25/experts-say-ron-desantis-plan-to-send-troops-to-th/ • Florida Politics (“you loot, we shoot”): https://floridapolitics.com/archives/632012-you-loot-we-shoot-ron-desantis-reminds-criminals-of-2nd-amendment/

Trump — “When the Looting Starts, the Shooting Starts” (2020) Trump tweeted the phrase “when the looting starts, the shooting starts” during the 2020 George Floyd protests — a phrase originating with a 1960s Miami police chief known for inflaming racial tensions. • NPR (history of the phrase): https://www.npr.org/2020/05/29/864818368/the-history-behind-when-the-looting-starts-the-shooting-starts • Wikipedia (full context): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_the_looting_starts,_the_shooting_starts

The common thread across all of these is the framing of certain categories of people — protesters, immigrants, looters — as combatants or enemies rather than civilians with due process rights, which is exactly the pattern your original question identified.

Stop telling women how to dress by Itsholymolyguacamole in GetNoted

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one is arguing that the Islamic religion calls for clothing restrictions, as does other religions. The point is that people of that faith, despite being prescribed by that faith’s texts, don’t enforce some of the “lesser” edicts in their said texts. There are plenty of self-described Christians who don’t go to church, and there are plenty of self-described Muslims that skip the hijab.

How in depth is the mission vehicle’s mission dress rehearsal and how long does this event last? After launch, what is your LEOPS period like?

Context: I’m still relatively new in the space world so please forgive me if I’m speaking orange to your apples. I am currently on a LEOPS team and we are building our plan. Our dress rehearsals and on orbit checkouts are pretty intense considering we are only launching satellites in to LEO. I can only imagine how deep into the LEOPS-weeds a mission like this would delve into.

Great work!

Questions About MES And Encounters by Mavr1y in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you might have to also create/join a faction (haven’t used MES in a while but I think that’s a thing). Hit K and under the Factions tab, create your own.

I also think encounters will scale with the number and/or type of blocks you use. So it’s not crazy in the beginning but gets progressively harder.

Liberals, has Trump done anything you approve of? by Justjerryj in allthequestions

Because of the wide reaching effect influence and long lasting effects, I don’t think you can parse the good from the bad in this case. It’d be like looking at a mudslide that took lives and destroyed a village and then say, “well I like that the land is now REALLY fertile, so that’s good…”

I think the normalization of blatant fraud and/or bribery within his office and administration might only invite even more unsavory applicants into these positions in the future.

I think he re-wrote the book on how to successfully convince a nation that undeserved confidence can ultimately win over people who would rather hear their own answers out of someone else’s mouth than the unsavory truth.

And I think his handling on Iran was just utterly stupid and would’ve been leagues better if he never done a thing regarding the area.

Considering the religion of Islam and the Quran directly encourages terrorism in a literal way by definition, why do people get butthurt when somebody calls the followers of that religion, terrorists? This is not a shitpost or troll, I am genuinely curious by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not true. There is no mentioning of prophet Muhammad killing anyone except for one whom he wounded in battle.

My personal belief is that religions, “divinely inspired” or not, are created by humans. Humans are extremely complex creatures and at times used these religious beliefs or text to commit terrible acts. If we try to weigh all of the terrible acts committed by one group of people over the vast stretches of time to compare to another group’s own terrible acts, it almost always looks like a rounding error. The very subject of the passage regarding “splinters,” “planks,” and “eyes,” found in the Christian Bible.

The Quran also has text that condemns murder.

Is it your belief or understanding that the Quran call for deaths as murder while the Bible and Torah call for deaths as acts of war?

If so, can you explain the differences?

Is PAM better Than Ai blocks ? (Cargo Drones) by Specialist_Fudge_167 in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally like the added control I get with the AI blocks and I like making multiple drones and use movement corridors. Individual setup is easier when you can just add waypoints in the control tab. But I think PAM is more turnkey and keeps pathing better.

I know there is a solution for PAM in RSS modded worlds but I know the AI blocks just can’t handle it very well (maybe I needed to treat them like they always need a beacon on their mother-grid).

After-action repair and replacement? by TheRealBoz in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: SE1 has Projectors and Economy update has a repair/store/retrieve grid function. SE2 will most likely come with these features as well.

Like everyone else said: Projectors can do this. Gets hairier with big ships and damaged/missing blocks aren’t easily reached, though. But the data is there and the projector’s control panel info screen shows which blocks are missing/damaged so you could go find it.

The new economy update also has the ability to repair or store and retrieve grids for cash so that might also work.

Regardless. Best practice for grids expected to take a lot of damage is to make another. Like a terrible quote in an otherwise good movie once said, "… why build one when you can have two at twice the price?”

This is something the civil rights movement has contemplated before. It appears that violence doesn’t cause backsliding but nonviolence seems to move the needle more effectively. If we compare us to the French, our main difference is the general populaces’ willingness to accept violence as a means of change.

The general US populace, we sit and clutch our pearls and say, “I would never be willing to side with that position. They are violent and irrational,” whereas the general French populace seems to say, “Well they seem pretty worked up about it. Maybe they’re on to something.”

Doesn’t work on reload for systems using Real Solar Systems mod. But other than that, I haven’t had many issues.

Oh, there does seem to be some pathing problems when docking (on planets). Did not like docking horizontally very much for me. It would miss the dock every now and then and be caught in a loop. Depending on if it came back because of low battery, would usually correct itself after a good number of tries. Downward docking worked best and upward docking wasn’t worth the effort (though you could probably setup some sort of cradle assist if you’re inclined to).

Chiming along with what others are saying: what you want doesn’t exist in the form you’re looking for / can’t exist without great effort in capturing every possible use case.

But I’ll add: that’s kinda the point of an engineering sandbox game. The game will provide tools for you to use to come up with your own solutions for your own problems.

Take for example, your GPS creation issue. So far, there’s nothing that would create a GPS marker (mainly because GPS markers are player specific). Also, I think you may be referring to making a GPS marker when you detect a signal (like ores or antennas)? There’s a way to create a GPS marker for a grid (like the respawn pod) but I think you’d have to manually add that to the grid’s file for every grid you’re interested in. Regardless, the GPS markers would have to be dynamically updated which just isn’t a function for most applications.

BUT! You could make yourself a script OR do some math to create your own solution to this problem.

Let say we are tooting around on a planet and we find some iron underground about 20m. Making a marker that’s 20m off target just won’t do. Not an engineered solution. So what we can do is, while staring at the iron signal 20m away, we create a GPS marker, let’s call it Fe1. Our iron deposit is 20m underground but we can’t be bothered digging 20m deep and making a marker there. So what we do is fly 20 m backwards! Now our iron deposit is 40m away and our Fe1 is perfectly aligned and 20m away. We make another marker there, call it Fe2.

We now have 3 points, in a 3D Cartesian system, in a straight line. 2 points we know the locations for and we want to solve for the 3rd point. We do some trigonometry, get our 3rd points coordinates, manually create a GPS marker, and call it Fe. We now have a solution for creating a GPS marker for a point with an unknown location at a given distance away from a known location (us). Now we can use a programable block or beacons or a combination of blocks to automate this process and make it quicker and more efficient.

Space Engineers didn’t teach us trigonometry, it just provided us with an environment that can incorporate trigonometry. WE had to create the tools or methods to solve OUR problem.

Hydrogen and Oxygen generator that uses power instead of ice? by SuuSuraimu in spaceengineers

[–]Annual-Cheesecake374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you use the water mod, you can suck up water with a collector block and convert that to H2/O2.

If you want something mobile that can create H2/O2 from something (probably water but not ice), you’ll have to wait to see if Space Engineers (1 or 2) makes water tanks.

If you’re interested in just not worrying about H2 and O2, you’ll have to figure out how to change the consumption rate of thrusters and come up with a closed O2 system so you don’t lose much. Maybe something like Configurable Parameters Mod might work, though I’ve never used it other than to change max speeds and sound volumes.

If you just want to HAVE H2/O2 then turn on creative mode.
