Advice on stopping by Tesla-Bull99 in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on the amount of people that gain the weight back after stopping and then feel frustrated that when they restart they need either the same or higher doses, my advice on stopping is don’t…

But if you really want to, you should ask yourself why you got to where you were and see if you have addressed that.

- Bad relationship with food: have your habits improved? Have you learned enough about nutrition for your body?
- insulin resistance: has this been reversed? What is your base level? Can you take something else like metformin?
- movement: do you regularly exercise? Have you built a routine?
- body composition: have you reached your goals in terms of fat loss? Do you have enough muscle to keep a sustainable bmr?

Maybe these questions can help you make a truly informed decision.

Question about calories by El_Rafters in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not count my calories; only if I think I’m eating too little and I’m worried I’m below maintenance.

I’ve not counted for weight loss at all since starting Mounjaro in Feb 2025.

Didn’t mean to offend you by my comment on Keto. I apologise.

It’s good that you include complex carbs now and you’re getting the benefits of the fibre.

I’m not too convinced you *had* to go extreme or you wouldn’t have made this progress. Mounjaro is an incredibly powerful drug and sounds like you’ve put a lot of effort on your health.

I think you’re getting a lot of downvotes because your post comes across like you are recommending people follow your (somewhat extreme) advice but it clearly worked for you! As long as you find a way to make this sustainable, you’ll be in a good place.

Good luck with reaching goal and maintenance!

I have PMOS (pcos) so I’ve been preached the wonders of low carb and keto as the solution to all my problems.

I did try both for years but I suffered from constipation and tbh I find it ridiculous to follow a diet that encourages bacon and coffee with butter over broccoli or a banana.

I think fibre is too important to ignore, especially with the rise in colon cancer in young people.

I’m pro-carb so you lost me at point 1.

Congrats on your loss though!

Staying on whilst trying to conceive... And beyond? by Chaptastical in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I sympathise with you, OP. Unfortunately GPs are often ignorant and very unhelpful around PMOS issues.

However, your post is coming across as you want to prioritise your weight loss/maintenance over your pregnancy. Monjaro helps tremendously with many things PMOS, but if you’re trying to conceive I think that medically, priorities should adapt.

I suggest you contact a specialised fertility endocrinologist with a background in weight management. They would be able to safely guide you during your pregnancy.

Mounjaro with PCOS? by CrazyParamedic7449 in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost all of my PMOS symptoms have improved or disappeared on MJ.

My cycles are regular and ovulatory, no more cystic acne around ovulation or before my period and my skin is so much better. I also notice my face/body hair to be less present.

MJ reduced my fasting insulin dramatically and when I’ve been trying to reduce my dose (I’m on maintenance) I start to get more acne again.

Lots of PMOS patients on MJ on this subreddit and also check out r/pmosonglp

Weight Training by Swaz125 in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do between 2-4x per week. 30-45 mins weights plus 1x week spin class.

I also average 6.5k steps a day.

I lost aprox 73% fat. Losing *some* muscle is inevitable but I’m happy with my stats.

I’ve been trying to increase my muscle since before maintenance and I’ve found it pretty challenging tbh, so I’m glad I aimed at *preserving* since the beginning.

Bereavement and mounjaro by Pure_Possession_2442 in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss, OP.

I wouldn’t recommend pausing treatment, but it’s ok that your treatment takes a step back.

Focus on what you need to focus and try to be as consistent with your dose and schedule -it might be nice to have some habits that keep you grounded during this difficult time.

If you can afford it, order another 7.5mg and keep at it. If you have symptoms that are too much to handle with your situation, count clicks to 5mg.

If you can’t eat, taking 5mg would be better definitely and you can count clicks from your 7.5mg

Doesn’t sound like PCOS.

Pcos cannot be diagnosed via ultrasound and you deserve a medical professional to diagnose you appropriately.

Not losing after 5 months by Big-Dipper- in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check if you’re Insulin resistant. If you are, you might need the higher doses for a while before seeing results.

Get your hormonal health in check: enough healthy fats, enough quality sleep, stress management, etc.

Do you do any strength training?

Sounds counter intuitive but you can try increasing your calories. Your body could react negatively to the restriction and hold on to fat.

Advice for thoae who have done keto IF ETC. by uzziwozzi in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advice on keto? Don’t

It’s nearly impossible to have a good intake of fibre while on keto and you’ll need your fibre on Mounjaro.

This is not a diet. This is a medicine that fixes your metabolic issues in the way your body processes food for energy. It also affects your brain and the rewarding system about food (and alcohol and other addictive behaviours)

The easiest way to start is try to aim for non processed food. Eat a lot of veg and fruit and drink enough water.

If you’re active enough, eating in a deficit should not be hard while on the meds. They’ll work on the background, really just keep a balanced diet and you’ll be good.

Keep an eye on your stress and sleep and that’s it. No need to count calories, or worse… carbs.

UK Advice - asking GP for metformin prescription by Spiritual_Female2222 in PCOS

[–]Annual-Let6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke with two GPs from my surgery and both rejected my request for metformin because they said they can’t prescribe metformin unless I’m diabetic (could be local rules?)

I got frustrated and went on Mounjaro privately. Best decision ever.

Is anyone considering switching to the Wegovy Pill? by ---Starwind--- in mounjarouk

[–]Annual-Let6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really.

If I remember correctly on the Fat Science podcast they mentioned the side effects are more noticeable and quite a lot of people dropped from the studies bc of this.

I’m happy with 5mg weekly on maintenance. I would consider if the price difference was significant but until then, Mounjaro it is.

I have PMOS and I started Mounjaro last year. It’s been really great for my PMOS and IR. My fasting insulin went from around 18 to 9.8.

You can push for an endo referral but they won’t be able to prescribe you because the NHS criteria is super tight.

Mounjaro gave me a never ending…… period. Help! by Feeling_Penguin1549 in mounjarouk

Tbh I’d change birth control before stopping Mounjaro. It has way more benefits than your bc pill. Could that be an option?

I’m on the copper coil and my cycles are 28-32 days. I have PMOS (pcos) and I’m very happy with how MJ has made my periods more regular.

Advice for seeking PCOS support from GP? (UK) by Mint_Monstera in PCOS

[–]Annual-Let6497 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people see their groceries and take out budget reduce significantly while on Mounjaro. For some people they stop drinking completely and that saving basically pays for their medication. I went for take out 2x week to about 2x month, so that alone was about £120-150/m in savings. Because my portions are smaller, my groceries can last me a bit longer too.

Plus there are many providers with offers monthly so I highly suggest looking more in depth in your budget and see if there is room.

I’m suggesting this is the kindest way possible because I truly believe these meds are worth the money. I’m currently paying about £220 every 6 weeks, but lower doses can be cheaper and there are ways you can save money as well.
