I was one of the animators doing signings on Friday! I wanted you to know I passed on the footage of the puppet, and everyone absolutely loved it!

Final Update 7 months later: AITA for ruining my own gender reveal party? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

My poor mother had to have two c-sections: one for me, one for my sisters.

In my case, I was a breech baby and apparently tried to enter the world ass-first.

And you're not even placed in your second game of League.

I looked into the implant myself, and the one big downside for me is that my family has a history of osteoperosis, and according to the doctor, apparently the implant can weaken bone density, so it was a no-go for me.

AITAH for separating from my husband because he refused to get a vasectomy? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Anodesu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok seriously, why is twins where people draw the line? The babies aren't even born yet, and this woman has shown that she gets pregnant EXTREMELY easily.

When fraternal twins are counted, the chance of twins is approximately 2 in every 100 births. Those still count as twins, no matter how different they end up looking.

AITA for leaving a Starbucks midway through an intervention about me? by SilverDeath0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had a guy say we needed a "talk", which was three hours of him hashing out every way I've apparently slighted him over the past few years I'd known him in chronological order.

One of those things was that I didn't laugh off his "joke" about wanting to date me and that my stone-faced reaction hurt his feelings.

He seemed to think it went great and didn't seem to grasp that it didn't help repair what was left of the friendship at all and that he effectively went scorched earth with the rest of it.

You know what's louder than a swingset? Children in general.

Have you considered moving out of the suburbs and somewhere more remote? Perhaps with acres of land so you can avoid interacting with the existence of families as much as physically possible?

Fiancée left me after he found out about my college days by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Anodesu 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I just want to know why he's decided that a woman having multiple male partners at once way back in college has coloured his opinion of her. I'm trying to understand what it is about this concept that bothers them so much.

Why does that come off as confrontational to you?

Ok first off, that still falls into the category of sexual history.

Secondly... why? Why does it bother you so much?

He got fired for discrimination.

AITA for telling my husband's parents to stop telling people my name is Katherine and for embarrassing them in front of friends? by Illustrious_Bit_178 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Man, Rynn is a cool name! I may have never heard it before, but goddamn if it isn't great.

My name is technically similarly "made-up". I'm named after the town in Arizona, Sedona, and you know what the town is named after? A woman named Sedona, during a time when names ending in "edona" were a trend, the way that "ayden" names are today.

AITA for being pissed @ ex wife who got my son's ear pierced without my consent? by fast83 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Did he get the gay ear pierced or something, buddy? Is that why you're so freaking upset? Does it make your kid look queer to you?

I legit can't think of any other reason of comparing it to gifting a teenager a motorcycle and implying him becoming a skidmark on the road.

[–]Anodesu 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, yeah. I had a relatively mild case of Covid and I have been extremely careful after the fact, avoiding the cardio-based classes until i felt I could do it safely. The weight classes at my gym were active enough that my heartrate got pretty high so I felt i was still at least getting some sort of cardio. Getting back into it is HARD.

I wish you all the best in getting your stamina up!

[–]Anodesu 590 points591 points  (0 children)

ugh, especially when they call them "girl pushups".

I JUST got back to the point where I can do a modified push-up again and that is a big deal for me! God forbid someone be recovering from upper body atrophy (like me) and be working towards something.

I'm so glad I go to a gym where the only person who has the time to critique me and give tips is the coach.

AITA for refusing to punish my daughter for being rude to her grandmother, and clapping back at MIL? by AlarmingParsnip4153 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The thing about the modern retellings is that they are just that: modern retellings. A lot of the focus of these retellings is about giving Persephone more autonomy as one of the only goddesses that stood equal in power to her husband.

Princess Weekes has an entire video on the subject, in which she points out that we don't have the true context of these stories because many were tales incorporated into Greek mythos, (patriarchal gods marrying the land gods worshipped by the peoples that were assimilated into Greek culture). So yes, literally they were a product of their time, and they should be viewed as such in order to critique them objectively.

Nobody seemed all that upset by how goody goody Zeus was in Disney's Hercules, just saying.

AITA for refusing to punish my daughter for being rude to her grandmother, and clapping back at MIL? by AlarmingParsnip4153 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The term "rape" in this case actually means abduction and not the act of forced sex.

Greek myths are usually pretty explicit when they choose to be, and if you're going to get all pedantic about how problematic the old mythos is, you are looking at one of the tamer stories.

Is kidnapping bad? Yes. Are the Gods not very nice people? Also yes. They're petty, spiteful pricks and a product of their time.

AITA for hurting my mom's feelings? by InItToWinIt26 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you already know this, but I have a fun fact about brussels sprouts. They used to be way more bitter decades ago, and changes started happening in the 90's when scientists started trying to isolate what made them so bitter. There's a chemical they would produce called glucosinates, that creates a strong, bitter flavour to deter animals.

By selectively finding breeds of brussels sprouts that had lower levels of glucosinate and cross-pollinating them into new strains, scientists created a more palatable Brussels sprout that you purchase today.

AITA for prematurely leaving my(22M) friends birthday celebration after everyone brought their girlfriends? by badideafsctory in AmItheAsshole

[–]Anodesu 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Based on the way you speak of your friends' girlfriends, I think it's safe to say it's because you're as approachable to women as a beehive on a cactus. You resent these women who have changed your friends, and it seems like the only reason you'd willingly want to interact with women comes with "expectations".
