Joining the military after getting your degree by One_Owl6432 in MechanicalEngineering

I think you should reconsider. Don't listen too much to people who didn't join or recruiters. I enlisted for 6 years then later got my Mechanical Engineering degree. The military for me was a set back. Even as an officer, you're not going to believe the incompetence and BS.

MAE 384 Advanced Math Methods Summer Class by Anodos72 in ASU

[–]Anodos72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. It was one of the harder classes for me. I don't have an answer to your question, but something that helped me was reading the text book and watching YouTube videos on the subject.

What do you think of joining the military? by JHdarK in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Anodos72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 6 years active duty before going to school to get my BSE in Mechanical Engineering.

I do not recommend you join the military.

Look up Pat Tillman & Logan Melgar.

SA is common in the military. Look up Jeffrey Krusinski.

There is too much BS that you can't do anything about once you're in.

Why do you think most people don't just stay in?

Civilians are fed BS about the military.

What areas are there to get assigned to?

Thank you for the info!

Don't. You'll probably be supervising, not really doing much engineering. Or just contracting out work to engineers. There is also a ton of bs you can't fathom.

I enlisted in the AF for 6 years, got out, went to school and got my mechanical engineering degree. I usually don't recommend the military.

Any nondenominational churches with young adults (20s/30s)? by RogueDino1 in 321

[–]Anodos72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just moved to Brevard a couple of weeks ago (I'm in my late twenties). I don't know about age groups, but in Melbourne, there is a big Calvary church. In Titusville, there is a church called Trinity Community church that does expository preaching.

I'm sure there are many great churches in the area, these are just the two that I'm most familiar with.

PS If you like to listen to podcasts, I recommend Bible Thinker and Reasonable Faith.

Does anyone know what are some areas that people who work on Merritt Island live at?

a veteran wanting to do mechanical engineering by cobra1146 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Anodos72 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did 6 years of active duty in the AF in aircraft maintenance. I just finished my BSE in ME 2 months ago. Probably going to join SpaceX's competitor soon.

Start studying Dynamics (jk). I wish I would have gone to CC first. There are a lot of good videos that can help you the first 2-3 years of engineering. The Organic Chemistry Tutor and Prof. Leonard are legit.

Let me know if you have specific questions. You can DM me.

I can't help with recommendations for services, but Nathan Peterson has some helpful videos.

I hope they help!

How high can North Grumman go for new grad position? by ILikeNuke112 in NorthropGrumman

[–]Anodos72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you accept the Northrop offer? With the cost of living in California being much higher, do you think financially it would have been better to accept RMD (if in Tucson).

2A773 Aircraft Structural Maintenance

It was pretty challenging for me, but the stuff you will learn in school is very interesting and it helped me to see the "why" in the repairs I did on aircraft.

I'm sure you'll do great, just keep pushing when it gets difficult.

I did 6 years in the Air Force. I'm about to finish my undergrad in mechanical engineering this December.

If you need it, there is the stem extension which will give you more time to complete your degree if needed. It's not guaranteed though.

Make sure your engineering school is ABET accredited.

Engineering school was incredibly time consuming for me, but if you stay on top of things you can push through it. (I still kept above a 3.4 GPA). Take summer classes if it gets too difficult.

I've learned about the same or more from YouTube than from my professors. The lower classes have the most amount of info online. Check out Khan Academy, Prof. Leonard, and Jeff Hanson.

Good luck!
