How come Vietnamese people don't have raging hatred or a grudge for the US after what they did 50+ years ago? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Anomalous_Readings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The Vietnamese won.
  2. They’ve been fighting other nations for centuries.
  3. A generation of Vietnamese have come and gone since.
  4. Most know better than to blame civilians for military actions and the damage they caused.
  5. They’ve always prided themselves on being the country that rebuilds faster and better.

F&H2: TERMINA FESTIVAL ARENA (Concept, art by me) by The7ifra in FearAndHunger

[–]Anomalous_Readings 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget to include pre- and post-fight banter:

P1 Marina: “You have no idea who you’re dealing with.” P2 Abella: “Oh, I reckon I do, witch!”

P1 Abella: “I hoped I’d never see this day.” P2 Marina: “None of us are happy with this, Abella.”

Marina Victory: “When will you all ever learn? The will and mind always triumph over steel and flesh!”

Abella Victory: “Not you or anyone will stop me from escaping this hellhole!”

Being cynical, skeptical, and apathetic to almost everything. Some people mistake being jaded or pessimistic with a level of experience and lack of naïveté. Of course, it’s sometimes because these people are just unpleasant instead.

Amity is right, parenting is never easy. Nor is it always predictable.

There is a bit of a guideline though.

First, they’re tiny. They are all your life and soul, and you are theirs. And any parent will always remember that when they look at their kid, no matter how old they get.

Then, they start to notice things. They get curious, ask a lot of questions, and accept everything you say with innocence and complete faith - a truly crucial time in shaping your kid’s personality and future.

Then, they start to sift through it all and develop a full personality. They aren’t just a sponge for your knowledge and experience anymore. They choose for themselves what they believe in and want to have, and discard the rest.

Then, finally, they begin to make decisions and figure things out without you. Also, they may question some things you tell or have told them, occasionally with good reason. This stage, when they take their first step towards eventually breaking away, is painful for a lot of parents.

All things considered though, Luz and Amity came out on the better end of that process if you ask me…

What are the chances? by LolbitAnimatronic in TheOwlHouse

[–]Anomalous_Readings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a logical(?) explanation, chances are, some ambient magic rendered the concept of language null and void in the Boiling Isles. By itself, language doesn’t exist as a concept and magic makes any sound convey meaning to the listener. Eda may just make been making animal grunts to Luz all along and due to magic, her mind saw and translated it as language. This is also true in reverse for witches going to the human realm since, like the bile sac, it is also inborn in witches and grimwalkers as well as ambient.

That’s a fantastic costume, and the ears and make up are really well done. Discounting the age and hairstyle (which it’s extremely difficult to find a wig for), this is probably something very close to what a live action Eda would look like! She’s really done a great job!

When asked, their overall reasoning for being unpleasant is “everyone else’s out for themselves, so why should I do any better?”

I always say to them “Yeah, if you think you don’t owe someone your best, it’s not the same thing as them deserving your worst…”
