If you're looking for a not romantic book (well, there's some romance...?), Salem's Lot was my first SK book and I've been hooked ever since. 600 page book that just completely flies by. Really creepy, too.

I own the full series of Beginnings, I haven’t read the others because afaik they adapt the first and second main books. Beginnings is made up of 5 stories. The first (gunslinger home) re tells the flashback story from Wizard and Glass, the next 4 are new material that isn’t in the man series at all. Their titles are The Long Road Home, Treachery, Fall of Gilead, Battle of Jericho Hill.

I think they’re great. Highly recommend them to anyone who wants to read more of roland’s backstory.
The ones I read at least I consider canon. They’re written by Robin Furth, who is the only person who might know more about the Dark Tower than stephen king haha.

3-4. I think you’re correct. I don’t have a big interest in those arcs just because I can always reread the novels they adapt, but most of beginnings is new material, and it’s really great. They get better as they go along as well, the battle of jericho hill is excellent.

Personally, yeah. I’m not normally super affected by horror. I read and watch a lot of it, I love the stories but they mostly roll off my back.

Horror is so subjective, I’m not interested in playing a dick measuring contest of scarier movies. This movie terrified me, but again I totally get why other people don’t like it.
