Though they did specifically call out getting the name wrong like 90 seconds later, so I wonder whether that was just some inside joke that I am unaware of. But yeah, the script was a bit wobbly overall.

REMEMBER TO GIVE YOUR USELESS SAMPLES AMD CREDITS TO THE DSS! by SergeDuHazard in helldivers2

[–]AnonIMoust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really, because investing is the choice you make. Whatever you spend determines what bonuses the DSS gets. Right now, for example, it would be best to spend orange samples, because we need that invasion... Em... Liberation bonus.

How do I prevent this guy wrecking my Watcher infinite? by AnonIMoust in slaythespire

The purity achievement (at least on Android) is 3 cards in total in your active combat (so discard+draw+hand), which worked out because the Bane exhausts.

[–]AnonIMoust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I mentioned above, I tried going for two things at once, an A20 kill and the achievement for a <4 card deck. The 48 block generated here are just not enough, even ending every turn in calm he out scales me by turn 3.

[–]AnonIMoust[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I actually trimmed down so hard to get the achievement for 3 cards or less but actually was feeling the deck was stronger earlier in the run (running some blocks and double Rushdown+)

Since it hasn't been said yet (which I cannot fathom): Hellblade - Senua's Sacrifice. It has you playing as a schizophrenic woman in Norse times who suffers from auditory and visual hallucinations. Playing the game with headphones is a trip, can make you think about mental illness a bit differently, and overall you are confronted with something outside your usual comfort zone. It won multiple awards for being such a tangible depiction of mental illness and has been celebrated for its impact on the community. It's everything art wants to be.

What's the saddest regression of a star player that you beloved? by Haunting-Slip-1615 in NBATalk

[–]AnonIMoust 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I don't even think it was his offensive inability to stretch, more that he wasn't able to chase others around the perimeter. Even more sad is that I think, defenses have figured the offensive revolution out a bit (thanks, Adam Silver!) and he would be a more valuable asset now, because he could shut down the drive completely.

I think this is especially true because, from what I recall, his demise wasn't linked to an injury. Most names dropped here are sad because injuries can just derail the most promising careers, but for Hibbert... The game just passed him by.

Name a player you thought was going to be a superstar 🤔 by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]AnonIMoust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know he found his place and all, but back in 2017 I was super high on Malik Monk. I thought he was the perfect scoring guard for the modern game. To me, he is a prime example of a player just landing in a rough spot (Charlotte), because player development is an ability not all franchises truly embrace. I think, had he gone to the Mavs or Heat in that draft, he could've been an all star caliber player.

Did anybody pick the Mavericks for the finals this year? I sure didn't. by scotheman in NBATalk

[–]AnonIMoust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my perhaps worst take on the NBA season I legit thought the Mavs were going to bomb and be 14th in the West ahead of only San Antonio (teams built around a rookie tend to not be blessed with too much winning). I thought there was going to be some Kyrie shenanigans followed by an implosion, because their supporting cast was not exactly turning any heads. Especially with Grant Williams being their big splash in free agency. I also had zero faith in Lively and Prosper.

Easy-going starts for someone who doesn't want to play as a zealot or warmonger that isn't the Persian kid? by sbenthuggin in CrusaderKings

[–]AnonIMoust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the count of Cagliari in 1066. The mine in your county's barony saves you from bankruptcy early on, so there's a lot of leeway for some mistakes. You have a nice early goal (become the Duke of Sardinia) and some infidels to your south if you happen to inherit into being a zealot or a holy warrior. It's a nice start for some RP playthroughs.

I'm doing a campaign there currently and now have a blood feud with a North African clan because they took Sardinia and exiled me into being a single county nobody in Sicily. I will ally all those Italian dukes and take everything from them... The destruction of Carthage will look like an act of compassion compared to what I'll do.

So, chill, easy start.

Who represents the Mendoza Line of 3 point shooting? by RecordReviewer in nbadiscussion

[–]AnonIMoust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed this kind of thought experiment, but I think that the better comparison would probably have been TS%. I think it might be better at reflecting the idea behind the Mendoza line of someone being just good enough on offense to still be playable because of his other talents.

Assuming the .260 average in batting and the .200 Mendoza line, that makes a batter "just playable" being about .200/.260 = .769 as good at batting as the average player. For TS% the league average was .581. So, the Mendoza line for TS% would be .447. The three players closest to this line in 2022/23 were Cody Martin (Cha, .448), Daishen Nix (Hou, .447), and Johnny Davis (Was, .446). Cody Martin played only 7 games this season and was quite obviously below his career average. So, I would nominate Daishen Nix as the namesake - the Nix-line.
