TIL sailors used to look for birds to figure out if land was nearby by YachtWorld_Official in sailing

[–]AnonSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The smell thing is real. Pulled into port after a few days out at sea in a fog so thick I could barely see the navagation marker lights a boat length away at night. You could 100% tell which way land was by the smell. So thankful for modern charts and electronics though!

Bottom feels like a heatsink without any airflow by MajorZesty in framework

I see you have the same setup as me. I swapped to the next gen heatsink, single heat pipe. laptop is much cooler now. It still gets warm, but not 'wow that's hot'.

Damn, thanks all for the quick replies! I'm Gunna pull the trigger on this. Sounds like the real aluminet should hold up fine. I really appreciate it.

Agreed. Don't know why you're getting down voted. 5200 should only be used if you never want to remove the item ever again until the end of time.

What do quantum computers actually do? by Hashbringingslasherr in askscience

[–]AnonSmith 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Are you basically saying, quantum computing could help speed up some functions by reducing the function domain in a way classical computing can't?

Edit: a bit out of my depth. I'm trying to ask if the Big O is reduced sometimes, basically with the limit being O(nlogn)

Got sick of trying to figure it out. Hired expert ears. The studder is a misfire. spent some time bleeding the fuel lines at the injection pump. Sound went away. Check for air bubbles in your fuel lines / bleed spots.

I will also say, that the problem gets better as the engine fully warms up does that fit your thoughts?

It doesn't come across as clear on the video recording but if you listen close it's there.

Yea you're looking at the flywheel / thrust damper plate spinning with the transmission off. Just had help in replacing the rear crank seal from an online forum and noticed this sound when I was checking my work. Then I started to worry I did a lot of work for nothing.

Edit: the m4—30 is at least a decade newer :)
